Fire brigade removes burning hay from barn with shovel during major fire 

Ravenswoud (Netherlands) - A fire broke out in hay in a large barn on the Compagnonsweg. The fire brigade quickly scaled up to a major fire. The Smilde, Appelscha and Oosterwolde fire brigade were called in with the Assen aerial platform and the large water transport from Vries. It is not known how the fire could have started in the hay, but heating may have been a cause. The fire brigade was given a shovel and was able to use it to remove the burning hay from the barn. Outside it was extinguished and taken apart. The barn was severely damaged. The fire brigade spent hours extinguishing the fire and removing all the burning hay from the barn.
