@@SegaDisneyUniverse Grodus isn't that hard, it's probably more so because Bowser happens in the same sequence. I would always make sure I leveled up after fighting Grodus. But yeah, now we know that you can basically beat him super easily.
To point out also: If you decide to attack Grodus's staff, this does not count towards his total HP. So you yourself are forgoing a round to make him forgo that same turn.
For real, I had this game for almost 20 years and just now learned that you can burn out his staff with Fire Drive! I could've saved myself so many deaths if I knew that trick as a kid!
This is goddamn wild. I never knew you could do that. I didn’t use fire drive much as a kid, but then again, I sucked at this game xD I want to replay it now that I’m learning so much more about it
Owned this game for nearly all of my life and I never knew you could hit the scepter. I love this title. Edit: And a rock can fall from the ceiling, too?! A Shy Guy somewhere needs to be fired.
Isn't Fire Drive's base damage like 5 anyways? So considering Grodus's 1 defense, you only need +1 attack to stunlock Grodus like this, while base damage still nearly guarantees a lost turn.
I honest to God think that the scepter + fire drive interaction is a leftover from development that was accidentally left in. AFAIK, no other attacks/items in the game can target or hit the scepter, making this a ridiculously obscure interaction. You can't manually target the scepter, and no other spread attacks hit it.
This is amazing I've been playing this game for forever and never knew about this...Would you be open to a new challenge run idea? I'm currently going through a 99 DEF run for all enemies and I want to see how you can optimize it. It's been really fun so far! Wasn't even trying. I tend to hit Poison Bingos all the time without trying, but no one ever gets to see them because I don't typically show failed attempts.
I said this in another video but I'm going to say it again, the fact that this exploit is a thing really is stupid and really makes question how policed this game really is.
