Jean is a literal child who we recruited into war. I am a filthy casual, but I want to play another save file with classic mechanics. I want to permadeath him, just for the sole fact of making everyone feel terrible.
i was too scared to try maddening as this is only my second fire emblem game, but i’m on hard + classic so i’ll think of this comment when i inevitably get him killed 😭
side note: i was not paying attention and got framme killed in literally the first chapter, so jean wouldn’t even be the first kid who’s blood is on my hands 🥲
Also, if you recruit Anna, use a second seal to switch her into mage ASAP. She starts off as an axe fighter, but she has the highest magic growth in the game. So it's definitely worth switching her over to mage as soon as possible, and then use a master seal to promote her to sage when she hits mage level 10. Aside from the magic growth, her personal skill gives you a Luck % chance to earn 500 gold from killing enemies. I'm chapter 14 right now and have been running her with Tiki's bracelet and inherited luck bonuses, and I'm at 35% chance. I'm sure by the end of the game I'll have it over 50%. Gold is hard to come by in this game so its worth it.
I did not know that, Ig that fact that she is so good with the Radiant bow as a sniper makes sense lmao. Tho I did make Yunaka a mage, Just kinda thought that would be fun.
thanks for the video! Three houses was my first game and I’ve been loving engage but it takes some getting used to the new things and the skills and such
@@FetchQuestsYT after the 3ds fe alwas changing some systems always fun though in 3h kinda failin a bit in gameplay aspect bcs u can mke a team of flyers and just rekt the enemies easily even on maddeninf
If you ever get a 3DS emulator, you owe it to yourself to try awakening. It's the one that really boosted fire emblem's popularity in the US. Fates is also really dope since it has a pokemon style 2 versions thing going on.
I've been watching several review/tips/gameplay/highlights/etc videos and yours was the first to mention "Jean". I will be getting the game soon, but haven't yet, so thanks for the tip. He doesn't look like a character that would be important. Can't wait to play this game! So glad the triangle battle is back!
I actually really like that this entries "zero to hero" character is a healer. In the past, they had a tendency to grow into a far superior unit to a lot of your team, but this way Jean can still shine without outshining, if that makes sense. Also, staying in.
Yes, good tip CaptVenom! In my video I was demonstrating how Louis doesn’t inflict Break when it’s the Enemy Phase, even though he has a Lance against a Sword
Good point, but he was talking about Louis breaking the foe's guard, not the other way around. Regarding the effect of initiating combat versus waiting.
For Jean, second seal into Thief, pair with Leif, level to 21 and master seal into Warrior, inherit the bow+1 range skill from S-rank Claude. His passive doubles the added stat growths from classes, and Warrior has great growths. I personally love the character conflict of the little boy aspiring to be a doctor, who reluctantly brutalizes and murders entire armies on auto skip.
@FetchQuestsYT Yeah, I think the tutorial right before that quest makes you think you have to talk to him, so I tried with multiple characters and none even had the option. Just didn't try it with Alear lol
Three Houses technically just altered weapon triangle, it didn't get rid of it. You had to equip "-breaker" skills (swordbreaker, axebreaker, lancebreaker), and these skills would provide a large bonus to hit and avo against the right weapons. So the game basically hid the mechanic behind a kind of skill wall. Better that they brought it back in its original form, though.
Jean's skill also works different from previous Aptitude. Aptitude would give a flat boost of 10-20%. Expertise, and I believe Starsphere as well, rolls your stats twice and you get to keep the best of both worlds.
Where do you use your Bond Fragments the most? I do make bond rings for all my characters, but I've mostly been using bong fragments in the Arena to increase Bond with emblems so that I can inherit skills faster. It's been quite helpful.
I do the same! I have enough bond rings so my units can equip one but mostly I’m in the arena spending Bond Fragments to level up their ranking with the Emblem Rings
I started playing 3 houses a week ago and then bought this....I have not gone back cause I'm enjoying this so much. Hopefully this game gets some dlc post game content
Well I hope if you do ever think about going back three houses still has a lot to offer. Engage is very different and Fire emblem is a game that is very replayable. Plus they have a ton of characters to know and love
Good question, Kaliane! I’ve read his personal skill doesn’t automatically grant and extra 20% to growths (like Aptitude did previously) so I’m not sure about how useful he is in maddening. With proper leveling and care, I’m sure he’d be useful! But yeah, that level 1 start is tough
@@FetchQuestsYT By what I read online Jean is only good on RNG leveling since Maddening is Fixed growth so I'm not sure if the dev team took Jean skill into a factor so he might be more normal than top tier in Maddening.
Jean's skill actually doubles class growths. Unlike previous games, class growths are quite significant. i.e. If he has a 30% in a certain stat and the class gives 15%, he gets an additional 15% for a 60% growth. With this, his total growths should be slightly above average, but always leaning towards his class, which is great. (i.e. little focus on speed as a knight, with his growths leaning more towards knight-boosted growths)
Any tips on maddening classic? I have been playing maddening till chapter 9 and it's just way too difficult, but Hard is just way too easy. What ridiculous about maddening is how the enemies boss when initiated they will have reinforcement and chase after u and man those maddening boss basically can one shot must of my character beside Louis and vandar. Not to mention they are mostly axe user tat can throw attack and support I think they should have retain save function to make it at least more playable.
I think he’s pretty versatile! Due to being a healer at the start, mine has higher magic stat than strength. But his strength still isn’t bad! Maybe I try one of the wolf classes.
An extra tip I'd like to add on Breaking. When you break someone, their counterattacks are disabled FOR THE REST OF YOUR TURN. So say you have an Axe guy and a Lance guy vs a Sword guy. If you first attack with the Lance guy to break the Sword guy, then next when you attack with the Axe guy, he also won't get countered.
That's not quite true, they will only be broken through the next attack on that turn so if you attack them twice after breaking them then they will counterattack
There's 12 emblem rings. You have more than 12 characters at your disposal. You won't have all 12 rings until the end of the game(presumably). But yeah you're right, free stat buffs is pointless bullshit. Turning Chloe into an insane dodge tank is a waste of time. Smh I'll never understand why some people say the most random and incorrect shit. Is it just ignorance?
For those not starting or just starting, beware, normal difficulty is just about as bad as Phoenix mode, due to way too many time turner charges. It almost makes me want to restart at a higher difficulty.
@rello2fine Sure. Echoes and 3 houses have options that shield you from failures by allowing you to turn back time. This is typically usable 3 times per combat, and allowing you to earn more uses. Engage let's you do it 10 times on the hard difficulties, and infinite times on normal.
