Download link: www.megaupload.... The old video seems to be gone from RU-vid so I decided to make a high-quality version of my own for me and you to enjoy. That and I've been using the same low-quality rip for almost four years now.
Old comment, but his PoR and RD voice actor is Jason Adkins. He also voiced Ike in Fates. However, in Heroes, Greg Chun took over the role, and he also voiced Ike in SSBU, but Adkins voiced Ike in SSBB and SSB4.
I came for the voice acting. Seriously though, with the voices and the animation it reminds no of those Barbie movies from the early 2000's like the Swan Lake one...
So Greil's name is actually Gawain was given the sword Ragnall (in authorian legend was Gawain's Wife's name), Greil was then stabbed by Black Knight who wielded the Alondite (which was the sword of Lancelot that killed Gawain, and as a side note Lancelot in most modern things has been given the title of Black knight for the most part). Well that is interesting.
He cut his tendons which crippled his ability to fight with a sword. I believe it was an act of guilt after his madness from Lehran's Medallion drove him to kill his wife, i think it's explained in Radiant Dawn
@@emilymatthews2990 no it was explained in path of radiance by the assassin who asked you for a huge amount of money to deliver the last message of ike's father
if you actually play the game, Griel was the best swordsman in all of the continent of Tellius. One day, he touched a medallion which houses a dark god and because of it, he went beserk killing everyone in his way using his sword arm. His wife tried to stop him and when she did, Griel killed her on accident because of the medallion's influence. Because of what happened, he tore the tendons on his sword hand to prevent him from ever drawing a blade again and has been using axes since then.
Apart from the final cutscene, Ike's voice acting was somewhat questionable. I will admit that I kinda chuckled when he cried out for Greil. But in that last cutscene, he sounded quite genuine for the most part.
Yeah. It wasn't... the worst. Just watch a Bang Zoom production. Ike's voice had a lot of room for improvement but it wasn't the worst one. (Though I do like the new voice)
Tbh, I kinda like Ike's scream when he calls out to his father. Sure its awful, but I think it captures the visceral nature of the scene well. Even if he does sound like a whiney 12 year old, lets face it that's because Ike is a whiney 12 year old at that point lol
1,000,000 Lumens Awakening and Echoes had better voice acting, especially the latter, since Echoes was the first Fire Emblem game to feature full voice acting outside the FMV cutscenes.
I know this comment’s super old, but I don’t think that the Black Knight had any lines in Radiant Dawn, at least in his costume. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Dude, have you SEEN the fucking stats on Urvan? Fucking thing's got 22 mt and 110 hit! Weapon Triangle don't mean SHIT to him. (the unused PoR stats for it are a lie. Shush.)
When the Black Knight tossed Ragnell to Greil, it was actually meant as an attack. If Awakening is any indication, the proper way to use Ragnell is to throw it.
But in Awakening Ragnell has a cracked and dull appearance, implying that the spell wore off, or whatever it is. I think they have it as a throwable weapon just for range's sake.
Uh... No. He threw Greil the sword as an act of charity. If you played Radiant Dawn you would know this. Damned Awakening newcomers pretend to know everything about the series.
Mist’s name was actually changed to Alja in the German version, due to her name being the word for “crap/shit” in German. On that note, I cannot properly convey how hilarious it is, as a German, to watch Greil see his daughter approaching and effectively say “Oh, shit!”
I like the Black Knight having a softer and sort of musical voice in theory but CAN HE SPEAK UP?? I'm sure he said something really cool but I can't hear him over the music fml
I like Mist's voice actress. She sounds very not anime esque to me if that makes sense. In fact, no one here sounds like most anime dub actors. I think that's why I can forgive the awkward moments of their performances, and really they aren't THAT bad.
Christopher Stanley Bad anime voices tend to be over-the-top or trope-y. Most of these lines are barely acted out, so that's probably why they sometimes end up sounding more normal than anime voices.
+startmirca Well, we hold voice acting to a higher standard now. The 14th game in the franchise is expected to blow the 9th game out of the water in every way.
+misstaxi I know, but I don't see how the 14th game's voice acting is bad at all. Except for Effie's, her English voice is horrible, as if the only bad English voice from Fates.
startmirca Haha, I was about to mention Effie before I clicked the 'Read More', you beat me to it. Yeah, her voice is truly the worst in Fates. It sucks because Marisha Roy (her VA) also did Oboro, and was good at that. I think whoever the voice-over director was pushed her to use a gorilla-ish "ME HUNGRY" voice for Effie that just killed her character. There are other voices I'm unhappy with as well, but I'm not here to write an essay xD Plenty of voices that I liked, though!
I gotta say, the tough and rough Ike we all know and love who made numerous smash appearances and everything actually has quite the backstory. Being saddened and everything. It shows, underneath that brute exterior we got a soft and sensitive boy who has love for others and can get scared and sad.
I miss Jason Adkins, I really like his performance, he did his best and was amazing in Brawl, he was also really good in Code Name Steam. I think greg chun will never charm me like Jason Adkins did, though I do like Greg Chun the problem is that every time I hear his voice I hear either Lukas or Ephraim. Sir Adkins you will always be our Ike :)
Matthew Halbur Well, even then, back in the day it's not like Nintendo was hiring high budget actors. I think it had more to do with them hiring more local actors and not any of the talented actors, and the fact that voice heavy games were still a new concept to Nintendo altogether, as NES, SNES, and N64 weren't all that known for carrying enough sound to have too many voices, or in this case, full animated CGI with sound. Not to mention that Nintendo of America doesn't have a high a budget, themselves, either. But I think what with the amount of voice heavy games, nowadays, their popularity, and the money they have, mostly from the Wii's sales, they probably had more of the potential budget to hire better voice actors for Kid Icarus, Xenoblade, and, of course, Fire Emblem and such... especially for localization and translations.
Plus there's the struggle of syncing voice with the lips. They'd have to entirely redo the lip animation just for the english release. Some of the VA's are actually bad as well, but considering that they had to sync with the prerendered mouth animation, there's not much they can do about it sometimes.
Stocking Anarchy The Tellius games and Fates had the worst voice acting. Awakening and Echoes did a better job with dubbing, especially the latter, considering that Echoes was the first FE game to feature full voice acting outside the FMVs.
@alextingle I did the voice of mist, it was a fun character to play, even though a small part, i was only 15 when i did the voice of her. great experience.
seriously. they are so funking unique too compared to the bland over the top cringey 'perfectionist' performance every voice actor nowadays has. they literally all sound the exact same and have the over the top delivery and seriousness and its just such cringe. the people that defend it are ones who never leave their computer screen and just watch tv 24/7 with no lives
I love this game, they need to make an HBO show about this. The story itself is so rich, the characters were all so developed in the gameplay and dialogue. Ike is a strong lead, HBO MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
I personally loved the voice acting in this game pertically Ike's final scene there was only one voice actor that actually bothered me at all in this game and thats... mist.. well in the serenes forest cutscene other then that i loved this game and the cutscenes however i think she is mostly fine outside of that one scene she also has a good character aswell
For all of you complaining about the voice acting and lip syncing, I'd just like to point out the fact that this game was made in the very early 2000, at least before 2007. The tech probably wasn't that good and I believe that the voice actors at that time were fairly young not to mention that the transition from Japanese to English was still kind of new.
I know this was a year ago, but the game was released in 2005. And honestly, I thought the cutscenes were great. Yeah, the voice acting isn't the best, but like you said it came out at a time where Nintendo didn't exactly need too many voice actors. I think people need to realize that the technology we have today isn't what they had during the making of this game.
Assassin San i think it’s very very passable for its time, and Ike does actually sound good in that last cutscene, he just could’ve done a bit better for when Greil died. Honestly it’d be cool if this game could get a remaster because even the cutscenes quality doesn’t age super well
The 1st cutscene where Ike gets knocked down while training with his dad makes me laugh a little Ike had a lot to learn when it came to the sword and he did only after he was forced to grow up and protect the people close to him the scene is also kinda sad if you know what happens later because one minute he's a kid being trained by his dad in a time of peace the next he's having to grow up quickly and be a man in a leadership position while protecting the people he cares about during a war he thankfully rose to the task with the help of his group
Why did they not do a game about Griel? I loved him. They built him up perfectly! He is my favourite character in the FE series. He's cool, enigmatic, powerful, brave, tragic - just a brilliant hero and role model for Ike, plus his backstory is brilliant! He used to work for the Mad King!? Best swordsman in all of Tellius!? Killed *spoilers* while possessed by *spoilers*!? Fuck... at least make him DLC for Fates Nintendo? Please?
+Tonyair When Weaboos care more about the removal of a petting mini game instead of Fates being split or the quality of it, you can just tell that they're retards. Nintendo fans are nothing but a joke and they only care about their "waifu" in games instead of the quality of it.
+SeriousMcnegative They really should add more to the Tellius series. Path of Radiance is one of my favorite games in the FE series (Sacred Stones and Radiant Dawn are pretty close runner ups though). Maybe we might get something on the NX that acts as an enhanced version of PoR & Radiant Dawn (like how Mystery of the Emblem was both a remake and a sequel to Shadow Dragons and the Sword of Light).
The One Who Wrote This Maybe they can include Memory Prisms that help tell some of the backstories of some of the characters, similar to what they did in Echoes, maybe one of them could be on Greil.
DominationSoldier They're known as Laguz in the Radiant series. There are some sort of shapeshifters in most FE games. Sadly, the Radiant series is about $200+ now, but they're the best imo. Totally worth it though, if you at all enjoyed Awakening.
You should also know that you get (In case you get these games) 3 Beast Laguz in por and 4 if you choose a character in the endgame 3 brid Laguzs, there are 5 bird Laguzs but you can have 4 at most And only 1 dragon but there are 2 dragons in the game but in order to get the other dragon you must have the first dragon die In radiant dawn there are 9 beast Laguzs 8 bird Laguzs And 5 Dragon Laguzs If I remember correctly there are 50+ You can have in the game
Lyrics to Galdr of Rebirth: path of radiance in English. Endless grief and sorrow Hearts slumbering again Stars frozen in their place Darkness envelops the land
Hmm.... *Turns on Wii* *Plays a round as Ike when brother isn't around* ...HOLY COW. ASDFGHJKL; SO STRONG!!!! ....Well, I won't be playing as Pikachu anytime soon... XD
The tricky tick Lol a million dollars is literally nothing to Nintendo. I agree that it would be a huge money maker(much more than only a million :P) if they brought back the games(on wii u and 3ds this time), but with some different voice actors for some of the Fire Emblem games. They could even sell them for near their original price, because I've found it nearly impossible to get ahold of any past FE games or melee, so I'd take original price for the games new over the $200 new copies are going for at this point.
