Fire & Fertility Festival. Ancient Pagan, Druid Rituals in Ireland | Making Modern Magick ep. 4 

I experienced Beltane in Texas for the first time. After a magical night of dancing around a powerful bonfire that raged for hours, the drummers beating their drums, and fire twirlers, fire breathers performed…. I laid to rest in awe of it all. The weather forecast was supposed to be calm and mild temperatures. As I drifted off to sleep, I could still hear the drumming the background. The drummers started to beat a very low and slow growl. I heard a few women let out a visceral scream of release…. out of nowhere, a raging lightning storm popped up right on top of our evening. If you don’t believe in magik…. you’ve never experienced something like this before. At first, I was frightened of the storm, laying in my tent by myself, but then I just realized it’s almost like a cleansing. Mother nature was showing us who is the boss. She was also showing us who is in charge and then I realized I was laughing. It just brought me that much joy.

Its an amazing thing to see people keeping the old magicks alive. Another step toward a brighter age. Thankyou Mia for sharing this with everybody who will see it.

I am so craving this kind of community and ritual. In my part of Northern germany people are still coming together and lighting fires in the beginning of may, but there's no intention behind it. It's an empty Ritual and people are just getting mindlessly drunk.

I was watching this video and at the 5:51 minute mark I decided to see when this was posted and it was uploaded on July 22 which I kid you not is my birthday and I thought to myself theres no way this is just a coincidence as I continued watching I felt this rush of emotion, my eyes started to water and I got really warm, I felt love and gratitude and it just so happens that I have Irish roots. I think this may be the beginning of my spiritual journey

We also celebrate fire rituals, festivals of Mother nature goddess Parvati (Durga) and Shiva (Father God), during meditation we connect to universe(Brahma- the father of universe)... it’s always good to stay attached to the roots... We are full of mother earth traditions acts and festivities here in Greece as well but most of them have been combined with the orthodox christian church's practices and saints in order to survive and continue to exist. On 25th day of June we've got the feast of Saint John the so called "Kleidon". That name means "the man who holds the kleis-ancient greek word for the keys. The keys of the unknown the keys of your future the keys of the things that are going to be and you are going to give birth to. In those feasts the young unmarried virgin girls are to visit the spring of their village and bring to their homes with a big brass spoon the "Unspoken or Silent Water", they must not split it and go a lot of times the way to the spring and back again to fill with this water a big ceramic pot at their homes. During this task they must not response or speak to anyone. Before the sunset all the girls but also women or even men who want to know about their dreams and their future they gather to their relatives home and begin the ceremony of "Kleidon". The youngest girl and of course virgin or even better an orphan and poor one if it's possible, carries around the circle the pot in which the visitors throw their own "riziko" their personal little items that have their own meanings only for them(a little ring, a feather, a seashell, corn or acorns nuts or berries even some hair or torn cloth it doesn't matter) and as they throw it in the pot they ask for something or make a wish with no words of course but secretly and all together sing the traditional song "we close the Kleis , the Kleis Charm and by Kleis Bless and Pearls, tomorrow is to be revealed what you expect and live for ". After that without talking the girl should "close the Kleis " by wrapping it tightly with a white clean silk or fine linen cloth and tie it up three times with a red silk ribbon that holds a brass key" Kleis ".And she puts it outside at the eastern side of the house under the moonlight.It is to remain there the whole night to get power from the moon and stars to get moonstarred as we say in Greece.After that people go for sleep immediately and it's believed that they are going to take their answers in their dreams.Earlu at dawn before sun rises the girl must take the"Kleis " pot inside cause the sunlight destroys its power. At sunset of that day the same people come and open without speaking the "Kleis " by the help of the girl of course. They sing the reverse song"we open the Kleis by Saint's John Blessings today is to be revealed what you live for "and the girl open it and the first item is the most possible the luckiest one.After the ceremony they all wish good luck to each other and especially to the girl they wish for good wedding, a lot of children, good health of them and their families their animals, fertility of land, e.t.c. in the evening on crossroads at the neighborhoods are to light up the "Kleidon " or Saint's John fires. These are a lot of small bonfires and people dance around them and jumb over them in order to get strong health and be fertile and creative for the year. They throw in the fires all the "rizika" all the items that were in the ceramic pot and in that way they burn their fears and so on ad so forth. These fertility festivals date back to 500 BC, Achaemenid Empire. Their religion was Mithraism, and the fire was a holly element. So, when the Romans invade Persia, they took Mithraism with them and it became their religion. After the world war, II archeologists found Mithraism temples around London, which were ruined by Christians. So, this festival comes from Iran. It is exactly what you described. They jump on the fire, wear red clothes, and believe in the power of fire and god.

They're the only people who didn't suffer martyrdom when they chose Christianity.
