To be honest it sounds like a terrible philosophy. Trusting in "US" is very shakey ground. We can shift one way one minute and then a different way the next. Where as God is unchanging, a constant and standard. I recently heard someone black ask "Does God even hear us?" and another person said that "The bible has kept blacks oppressed." That breaks my heart because I don't think people realize everything God has already done for you. How God put it in the hearts of real Christian men to fight to abolish slavery. Men like William Wilberforce in 1833 a Christian man who spend his whole live trying to abolish slavery in England until he succeeded because he knew that God created all men in His image. Or Lemuel Haynes the American anti slavery activist whose main drive for fighting slavery was his firm belief in the sovereignty of God, or the most known Martin Luther king jr himself. The only reason blacks have freedom at all in England and America is because God HAS heard you and freed you. Does God not love a person because the color of their skin? He Himself formed you from before you were in your mother's womb. If you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, that he paid the penalty of your sins that was stored up against the Father and was demanding wrath, that Jeaus paid for the INJUSTICE that you had committed before a holy God, if you believe that then you are God's son or daughter in Christ Jesus. Adopted and awaiting an inheritance that is for more awesome than any "justice" that you could ever receive here. Remember that it was because of our own sin that an innocent man ended up dying on yours and my behalf and God DIDN'T give us what would have been just, but instead extended us forgiveness and grace. Jesus paid for Justice. Ultimate Justice was found in an injust act on a cross. If you're God's child it doesn't matter what you are, black ,white, jew, gentle, male or female, doesn't matter because you're God's child, and my brothers and sisters. God hears and cares for His own, don't ever forget that.
Gotta love a song like this. Not putting blame on one side or the other...just a push for peace and acceptance for all.... Being mixed, I view thing's from a zone of neutrality...because I see all side's more then most. I've been a fan of Fire From The Gods....this solidified my choice and I'm even a bigger fan now. I was in nursing school with his mom, Deborah (Debbie), at BCC in the late 1970s/early 1980s. Akiel (AJ), his mom & his 2 sisters used to come to my daughter's B-day parties when I lived in NYC. I have baby pics of AJ...LOL. Debbie, his sis & he came to my daughter's HS grad party in 2000. That's the last time I saw them. His mom & I are FB friends. BTW, I did have a brief convo with him back in 2000. I knew he was into music but he told me he was into SKA.

Man as a mixed man who knows exactly how he feels and what he's talking about...if you take a step back you can see how these lyrics could speak to people in other situations as well... Drug addictions, abusive relationships, being a parent who cares, so many more things these lyrics can help you get our mindset out of as people because at the end of the day we're all human and should be treated as such.

The first time I Discovered Fire From The Gods was in November 9, 2019 Corpus Christi, TX when they were touring with Bad Wolves, Three Days Grace, and Five Finger Death Punch. I wish I discovered them earlier because they’re an amazing band.
