Randy, what a nice Father and Son camping trip. Wow, those are some big waves for the Atlantic! Camping on the beach is great. Memorable sunset with Shane. Interesting story about the ferry and where to depart. THANK YOU FOR TAKING US TO THE FIRE ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE, . . . Mike
I'm 99% sure 0:10 to 0:13 is the Verrazano Bridge. Before she passed away, my aunt lived 5 minutes away, 115 Emerson Court, Staten Island. I have a love/hate relationship with that bridge. Love it because of the view and it's the start of the New York Marathon, hate it because of the ~$16 toll! The best view of the Verrazano is from Staten Island Boardwalk. I used to visit during spring break and we would watch all the ships go under that bridge, including the Queen Mary once.
Just found your vlog. I grew up at Watch Hill in the summer's. I have known Paul, the lifeguard, for many years. His hospitality does not surprise me. Super nice guy.
Great Video ! Beautiful views of the waves coming on shore. The lifeguard was very helpful and a true gentleman. The Light House is worth the climb and the view. I did not know about the mosquitoes when camping. Great to see you and your son had a Famous Nathan's Hot Dog at Coney Island. Made the trip worth it ! Cheers !
2 spouse AND my wife hahahahaha// and what a great guy so nice... this is so cool to see ! you may have noticed my FI videos, i grew up in Sayville a town with ferries to Fire Island, and my dad would drive us to the other end of Fire Island for Robert Moses beach most summer weekends... but the one area i have not been to, you are showing me here this is Excellent// the other towns have a lot more food etc and a little better prices, but are also very crowded... this is excellent i think next time i might have to try taking the Patchogue ferries and walking west to the other towns and ferries (yes, a long walk)// this area you show us is Awesome and looks pretty empty too...// Excellent you got to the Lighthouse as well, that's my beach! (we went to field 2 mostly).. finally made it up that thing myself over summer///and a coney island bonus? Love It! thanks so much for this great video!
Thanks, buddy! I remember watching your FI video, but didn't know you were a native to this area. Always kind of figured you grew up in the SW desert because of your expertise in that area! So true on your comments - not much there in that section of FI, but way fewer crowds. My cousins lived in Massapequa LI and traveled there often - mainly the Jones Beach area. I was pretty young then. It was a fun day with my son - one of our first videos!
@@AmericasParks at this point ive been in CA longer than i was in NY but i was there 20 years... my Mom is still in the house i grew up in, still have some friends there too... Really glad i found this older video, you sure knew how to put it together right from the start this is great quality narrating and production especially for an early vid
