The fact that you can have all these great artists playing/singing and they don't even come close to capturing the originals goes some some way to show how fucking mega the original band were.
I was fortunate to have caught the Jam live in concert twice in NYC in 82 just a few months before they broke up. Both nights a they invited a bunch of fans to hang out in the hospitality room to chat and sign autographs. It's amazing that 40 years later, The Jam have only grown in mysical stature. I'm glad I was anle to experience it first hand.
@dearly beloved I know he’s a mate of Weller’s, but I find most of Noel’s solo stuff hard to listen to. I wasn’t that much of an Oasis fan, but I find Liam’s stuff more listenable to. He knows his limitations. Makes me realise how lucky we were to have Rick, Bruce and Paul. There’s never been another band like them. Keep the Faith.
I think it's alright. He's put a different spin on it at least. With just the acoustic, he's made it a bit more wistful or something, instead of just trying to mimic the original. One man's Marmite etc...
