Roden, Netherlands - Around half past eight, the emergency services were urgently alerted to an animal in the water on a sandy path near the Mensingheweg. Roden's fire truck ended up in the ditch on the sand path. She tried to drive past a trailer along the path, but the ditch gave way and the car slid into the ditch. It was quickly scaled up to medium-level assistance. In addition to the Roden Fire Department, Leek, Peize and the crane and divers from Groningen were called up. A horse was stuck in the mud with its owner. The Roden fire brigade was unharmed and were able to walk the last distance. The horse quickly got back on its feet and no one was injured. The additional fire brigade units did not have to arrive on site. An ambulance arrived on site for a check-up and a veterinarian to check the horse.
Poort was quickly on site, but was unable to reach the vehicle due to overhanging branches. VOS from Roden was also quick to remove large branches with an aerial work platform. The fire truck could then be pulled back onto the path, which went quite smoothly. The car was virtually undamaged and was able to continue driving on its own. The car does go to the dealer for a check.
