I do agree that the new stick is running a bit more smoother. it's easier to tell when i pause your video (ex: 7:51 min into it). Thanks for the side by side comparison.
Good vid! I’m gonna get the Max to calm down the buffering I have watching movies in my living-room. The 4k I’ll just transplant to my bedroom or my garage.
Maybe the older 4k stick is programmed to to remain in Dolby vision regardless of the content source. The new 4k stick (max) may be a passive detection type programming. Which in my opinion probably saves energy.
So if you don’t have Wi-Fi 6 do you recommend not getting it??? or even without Wi-Fi 6 will it be faster or better streaming when I’m watching my movies that is my question thank you???
I would get the MAX either way and if you have WiFi 5 and it's close enough to this and you have normal Internet speeds, you won't really notice a difference if you're on WiFi 6 or not. WiFi 6 helps with range and speed, so if this thing was further away from your router, it could still get pretty good speeds compared to WiFi 5 and below.
I just got the 4k max tonight. I noticed to the left of the home icon is a search icon that doesn't do anything. How do I get rid of it? Kinda annoying.
Thanks! Not sure I understand the question. Assuming I understood, you just buy the 4K max and replace with your regular 4K. Meaning unplug the 4K and plug-in the 4K max. Now if you meant, can I upgrade my 4K to a 4k max, the answer is no. You would just buy the 4K max as it’s a newer version. Hope it helps
Amazon gave me woping $5.00 trade-in for my working 4K fire stick. Big deal. The new remote seems cheaper, the Spectrums app still won't work on the Max, so still use Roku.
I hope the 3rd gen remote doesn't drain my batteries in 2 days. That's the only reason I got the Max because the original replacement remote is like $30. Might as well get the Max for $34.99.
Going by the specs and review, the Max is better, yes. That said, going by the specs, the changes/improvements are frankly minimal. 2GB of RAM vs 1.5 is nice, sure, but not nearly as impressive as upping the storage from 8GB (too dang small!) to 16GB would be. The only change in the Max that might incline me to buying it was not mentioned in this review: Fire OS 7, while the original 4K is stuck with Fire OS 6. If I could get OS 7 on my original 4K, I would not bother upgrading. The reason that Fire OS 7 is important is that pathetic 8GB storage, nearly half of which is filled by the OS and Amazon's useless-but-nonremovable default apps. Yes, it is possible to add USB storage to the original 4K, but it isn't natively supported (like in OS 7), and the workaround is a PITA.

I am in the process of researching/comparing the differences between the various Firestick's. Your video is the first I've learned about the Firestick Max so, my question is I have xfinity internet (just the standard router) and since this FS Max requires a "Wi-Fi 6 router" If I were to get one, can I use it instead of the xfinity router? & my second question, you mentioned the alternative option of "or needing a Mesh Wi-Fi " how do I know if xfinity is a Mesh Wi-Fi? (geesh I have no clue what that is!) 1. You don’t need a wifi 6 router, it will work just fine with an older router but it most likely can go faster if there is a wifi 6 router. 2. Yes, a wifi 6 router or mesh WiFi will work with xfinity. It just plugs into your modem or ONT or DSL whatever you may be using to get internet access. 3. Your xfinity is most likely not a mesh WiFi. I highly recommend watching this video I did that I explain how a home network works. I really break everything down and try to make it easy to understand. 4. That’s odd you don’t see it but the links to the videos and products are in the description section. There are various mesh WiFi’s like the eero Pro 6, Asus ET8 l, tplink deco x68 and a whole bunch more.

Just bought my annual fire stick upgrade because remotes always break within a year. Amazon should be ashamed of their crappy remotes require lots of stress and resets and eventually breaking- great device - crappy remote and pray Mac remote lasts more than a year - Bezos should sell some of his riches told it their distasteful remotes
I still can't understand why they only have 8 Gigs of store in these things. The OS and things takes up 3 which only leaves 5.x for apps and other things. I constantly have errors that I'm out of space since 5Gigs isn't all that much space. Just put 16 in these things and be done with it.
I still can’t get my max to show Dolby vision, might do a factory reset or something on it. I think it should be the same as the 4K in terms of Dolby Vision since it’s digital, it either supports or not. It’s more my TV that can do Dolby vision better than other TV’s cause I have an OLED and it has amazing contrast ratio as well as amazing picture quality
There are a few advantages like having access to ring cameras and Alexa voice commands but for the most part if your smart tv is good, this is not necessary
In today's day and age 8GB is little but I'm just curious, what's a good number? Do you need space for apps and games? I think they keep it low to keep the price down.
