Thanks so much for the awesome video! I love hearing from experienced woodsmen that they are getting good service and performance from their Firebox Stoves! I'm so glad you like it! Thanksagain!
Nice video. Beautiful scenery. I have to say though, you never peal bark from a living tree. It's a huge leave no trace principle. White Birch trees are especially at risk. Thanks
I have a jet boil, but I saw this stove in the store the other day and haven't been able to get it out of my mind. After watching this, I am going to get it. THANK YOU for taking the time to show me how to use it. Loved the vid. Very calming.
I know I am a latecomer to the Firebox but I have one on order. In the past I used many different stoves but ended up with the Firebox for a number of reasons. I learned one can bake and simmer with it and it is a fast boil. Also as I reflected on the infrastructure necessary to produce and deliver a petroleum product for a canister or liquid petroleum stove this made far more environmental sense. Your videos have taught me a lot and I look forward to practice time with the stove.
I have my original gen 1 firebox and have been following Steve almost since the very beginning and one of the original members of stove aholics on Facebook I have been one of the original backers on Kickstarter with the Gen 2 full size firebox and also the nano and I've given five nanos away as gifts because I personally believe that these are one of the single greatest inventions of my life time which may sound cheesy but I genuinely believe this I believe that these products are built for generations and I don't see that for most products nowadays I see that this is such a versatile product that can be used in so many different facets and I am glad to see that individuals like you get to benefit from a great design and use it in such a beautiful environment
Thank you for this great review! I just got my own Firebox yesterday and am excited to try it out, very cool to see it in actual, practical use as you've shown.
Awesome video & I really appreciate a long term use review. It means much more to me when the product was used over a long period of time. I had to subscribe! Thanx!
I love it, especially when you just want to cook a quick meal or have a hot brew. It uses minimal resources and leaves less of a footprint, that's what I call a win win situation !.
Thanks for this gear review that has the benefit of time, reflection and usage. You brought out a few features I wasn't aware. As for myself, I opted for the smaller and lighter Firebox Nano, but it works in much the same way, with side fuel ports for a less fiddly experience, which matters all the more on the smaller model. Love those Firebox stoves. Cheers, - Martin
Oh man...we've got a lot of work to do with your bushcraft skills...especially around making coffee..LOL...Great video Wayne. I agree with everything you say about the Firebox. Without question the most capable stove I own...just a little heavy but I'm okay with that
Mark Young You are so right Mark that guy really needs help on coffee 😉😂😂😂 But on other hand his review on the FireBox is one of the best I have seen. One think is sure he just gain a new subscriber 👍👍👍
Kijika Life 😂😂😂 you got it my friend, I'm living in St-Hyacinthe in la Montérégie since a while but spend lot of my life in the Laurentians. I was almost sure you are a french speaking when I heard you saying "c'est chaud" 😉 I just discover your Channel and I found your content great and Really like your approach 👍👍👍
I have looked at these never used one but I think it may be the best built stove out there. I'm not worried about the weight. It's the price that gets me. I have 3 other stoves right now. I think when they are finished I will go with one of these. Great demo.
They are pricier than most other stoves other than The "Bushcraft essentials " one but man they are built like a tank !! and can be used in so many different ways...check out the Firebox channel on youtube Mark. I really like my Emberlit but in cold weather i find the Firebox needs less fidgiting to open and put together.
great stove for sure , i been looking at one since they came out just hate to spend the money ,i got so many stoves now but maybe next year cuz i really want one , the multi fuel use and really the stove could save your life with a good fire to keep you warm ! great piece of gear ! atb john
Just received a Firebox Nano in the mail yesterday and plan to try it out later today. If I end up liking it I will probably get the larger Firebox before next fall. Will be nice to have both sizes. The nano fits very nice into my rather small day pack.
Check with fireboxstoves.com , I bought a few value packages for my children and grandson. I got the stainless steel 64 ounce bottles in their kits , as I've gotten for myself, cost Less buying it all at once .
Just bought one. Its piddly but I love the fact that I dont have to break or cut up sticks. Just enough to get it going and then feed long sticks in through the feeding holes on the side.
lol at the Mark Young coffee part, been binge watching his videos since we been locked indoors I have yet to buy a stove of any kind yet with these fire bans going on, I almost expect it to go til next winter
I think we've all been binge watching video's Lol !!. We've been getting more and more fire bans and they are lasting longer and longer as well...might be best to stick with a gas stove for now !
I was a little late in getting one, so i had to get the 2nd gen, but i was really looking for the gen 1. I don't use the stick slots on the bottom very much, i mostly feed from the top. maybe i'll get lucky and find an older one at some point. Thanks for watching and commenting !
I'm a driller. I took a used up 6" steel coring barrel and torched off the heavy threaded end, leaving a steel cylinder. I then drilled, torched, and ground it into a slightly heavier cylindrical version of the firebox. Cost me $6 😁
A great watch and listen Wayne. I am a stovaholic....there I've said it lol. I am contemplating another stove purchase...Firebox or Bushbox. Decisions, decisions and, you shouldn't tease Mark like this. Paul :)
1) Your fire stick works better than mine, where can I purchase, please? 2) A bit of water (even just 1/4 inch) on the bottom of your metal cup will help prevent 'burn' to the cup. 3). How much does the Firebox weigh? Two pounds? By the way, instant coffee is great! I use it too.
I bought mine on Amazon and thanks for the tip for my metal cup !...Ya the Firebox stove weights about 2 pounds. Thanks for taking the time to comment !!
I can't really comment on the Titanium, I've never owned one but I can tell you the stainless is not a light weight stove but is built like a tank. I also can say that Steve at Firebox is very serious about the products he sells and does extensive testing before releasing it to the public...I would trust his products no matter which one you decide to go with.
Cooling it quickly can cause weak areas and warping. It's not recommended by the creator. (He has RU-vid videos too). There is a Titanium version and that cools Very quickly.
I had to go and check lol...it's an LL Bean that I got at a Thrift store for under 10.00 Cnd !!, great wind breaker...just throw a woolen sweater under it and you are good to go . Thanks for the kind words and for leaving a comment !
Great video! Watched it all the way through! I love it when you can get the pros and cons. And the weight seemed to be the only "issue" - which I guess is remedied with the versatility of it. One question: Have you've been using the Trangia Spirit Burner with it? How much one "dosage" of alcohol last?
Spoilt by too much talking. Its a common problem with north americans that they think they need to explain every little detail. That maybe necessary for folks from new york but not for the rest of the world. Just rerun the video and ask yourself does that action actually need an explanation?
