Reckless driving. Passing on the right at high speeds while leaving the flashy bits and wailer on. He was over 100 on one pass. Unrelated, but the way he was fiddlefvcking around with that wailer...and left it on while driving through the middle of the accident scene...this is tunnel vision/bad situational awareness. Never a good quality for LE.

Arkansas law enforcement forget that their #1 priority is the protection of law-abiding people when they try to stop those fleeing. I've watched the videos of them doing dangerous maneuvers too close to innocent bystanders/drivers. They've actually commented that they don't care if they kill the driver they're chasing. What if there are passengers in the vehicle who are not participants in crime? I guess they're like everyone else - collateral damage. That's disgusting.

Read both the attached article and after watching the video, I kinda believe he was fired for other reasons and the Sheriff was just looking for excuses to get rid of him. I was a cop for over 16 years in both small towns and big cities and this looked like a run of the mill County or State Po-Po code-run. He didn't blow through any red lights at speed, nor did he ever squall tires or even come close to losing control of his squad. It was day light, and the roads were dry with exceptionally little traffic. The officers are trained higher than most citizens at handling a vehicle at speed on the skid pads and EVOC driving courses. I didn't really see anything that could be considered reckless or overtly dangerous. In the city your back up is pretty close and usually plentiful, but with most county and state agencies your back up may be 20 to 50 miles away. When the deputy arrived for the backup, the lone fellow officer was still in the middle of a high-risk stop with more than one person in the suspect vehicle. To me this reeks of a spineless Sheriff caving to outside influences who have never been in a cop's shoes, or there is prior bad blood between the Sheriff and Deputy, and this was the excuse he was waiting for. If it's the latter, then the Sheriff could be right, or he could still be wrong depending on those reasons.

He's got a lot of gun pulls and questionable behavior at traffic stops. Then just watching this response his driving is reckless. Leaving your lights and siren on while passing people on the right at those speeds is insanely dangerous. Especially since he constantly switched to the least audible tone, the composite air horn, when going through intersections and things like that. He was over a hundred miles an hour when he went past one car on the right. This is reckless. He probably was going to get sacked anyway this just put it over the edge.

Professional driver and EVO instructor here: I have no problem with the deputy’s speed on the open highway. The highway patrol or state troopers regularly drive 151 MPH just to catch speeders. My problem, and where I would support some discipline (not termination), is clearing intersections. 83% of LEO vehicle crashes resulting in injury/death occur at intersections. When that light is red, you must clear each lane, one lane at a time, at a reasonable speed. In my 12000+ hours of driving, I’ve never blown a red light at that speed. All of that being said, the rest of the deputy’s response was not unreasonable, and I certainly would not support termination based solely on this incident.

To add to this and why he got fired. He's had a lot of questionable gun pulls and traffic stops as well as behavioral complaints and escalations. As much as people don't want to accept this, his driving was actually pretty reckless. I think they were already going to sack him and his response here made it so much easier. He's passing cars on the right while leaving his lights and siren on while traveling at over a hundred miles an hour. Then he drove right through the middle of the accident scene, while still leaving his wailer on... This speaks to tunnel vision and a lack of situational awareness. The person he was going to back up was on a traffic stop with compliant suspects. It wasn't an officer down, an officer needs assistance that was in a fight. It wasn't shots fired by MOS or suspects. It was back up on a traffic stop...again...with compliant suspects.
