I'm a volunteer firefighter I started when I was 16 I'm turning 18 this year I haven't faugh any crazy fires but it sure has taught me that you need to be strong and willing to do anything.. its not about me, its about stopping to think you saved someone's life today
Being a firefighter like myself I can tell you it's not a career even if you start it with that mind set. Soon you'll learn it's a way of life. It's a family of men and women who battle flames of hell to protect those who are nothing more to us but strangers. Why? You may ask, simple. Firefighters are the guardians of the modern day world. Angels disguised as brave men and women just ready waiting on a call.
This captures but small part of everyday life on the job. After 39 years doing the job, I wouldn't trade a moment. The best men and women on earth. God bless my brothers and sisters still doing the deed. I'm 2 years retired and miss it every day. Chicago FD
I'm gonna start studying to become a fireman this summer. Also joining my small ass volunteer dept. down the road to get some training in the meantime. I spent some time on the road working with an older man who spent 25yrs as a paramedic/fireman. I got to know him pretty well and he says the same thing. He's shared with me a lot of stories, some of them ugly. But he always said he would still be doing it if he hadn't broken his back on duty. He was carrying a 400lb guy up a flight of stairs when he fell and was trampled by the guy on the stretcher. Wouldn't trade it for anything though. He's given me some good advice. Hope I can join the ranks in the near future.
This is badass, I cant wait till training is over and I can be apart of a actual firehouse, hopefully the family I've made in training will follow me 😁
