Came across your videos back in February when I was preparing for my first fire written test for SD fire. These definitely helped out and I passed my test !!!
I've bought two different books to guide me through my recruitment process and you content has been blown those books out of the water. Thank you good sir.
Cheers for the video content! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would love your opinion. Have you researched - Rozardner Lucky Interview Reality (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a great exclusive guide for firefighter interview tips without the headache. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my best friend Jordan after many years got excellent results with it.
Kudos for the Video! Sorry for the intrusion, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Rozardner Lucky Interview Reality (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a good one of a kind product for firefighter interview tips minus the headache. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate finally got amazing success with it.
Appreciate Video clip! Apologies for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you tried - Rozardner Lucky Interview Reality (probably on Google)? It is an awesome one of a kind guide for firefighter interview tips without the normal expense. Ive heard some super things about it and my mate after many years got astronomical results with it.
Wish i had found these videos before i took my first firefighter exam.i hadnt done any of this since i took the asvab back in 2006. Got to these questions on the test and failed miserably not gonna let that happen again. Thank you for knowledge and willingness to teach
This video is EPIC. Took my fire test in CA a few months ago and scored an 83. Taking the test again next month in hopes of getting above a 90. But this video most definitely covers most of what I saw on the mechanical section
I'm scheduling my test now, I didn't fi ish high-school due to starting work at a young age and the math section is definitely worrying me. I'm staying confident, how did you do? Any tips to help ease the nerves.
@@swizzy1878 yeah its done, I passed it but still waiting for further information. I definitely over thought most of it, common sense will help get through it.
the "divide by the number of pulleys" trick only works if you have pulleys that move. Fixed pulleys do not provide any mechanical advantage, they only change the direction of the force. So really, you need to multiply the number of MOVEABLE pulleys X2 and then divide by that number.
Also, your drawing couldn't exist in real life. The pulleys would need to be attached to the load. Think about it in real life. If you pulled on the rope and the pulleys on the bottom were just free floating like that, they would just get flung up straight into the air. Anyway though, sorry to "nay-say." I do appreciate the free help.
I don't understand how, in question 3, dividing by the number of pulleys is a valid solution. I would think that if you pull 20 ft of cable, then as long as the cable doesn't stretch, it will pull 20 ft "everywhere". By this I mean that, since the cable is some given length, say 50 ft long, and you pull 20 ft of it, then there should remain 30 ft of the cable that you've yet to pull towards yourself. In this case, I would say that the far end of the cable has moved 20 ft.
@@Cossettekevin when I pass this, we have to do an oral exam during the 3rd week of November. (I haven’t been able to find anything about this and asking the firefighters I know, didn’t really help either) CPAT will be 12/10 and oral board interview to follow and start the academy in January
Im also applying in Detroit i passed cpat first but am about to take this test but they call it a computerized based assessment test. Im sure it's the same correct?
Hey Robert, if you check out our website we have a ton of articles on the different aspects of the test. In this article you will see this same mechanical reasoning video embedded into the page. Just below the video you will see the link to download the worksheet. Here's the link to the article... firefighternow.com/firefighter-mechanical-aptitude-test/
Jonathan Taylor glad you found them helpful! Good luck with your applications. We have a lot of videos on the interview process as well so hopefully you will find those helpful as well!
Great videos and very informative. You mention for question 2 that we are to divide by 4, although the diagram illustrates a 5:1 mechanical advantage, therefore shouldn’t we divide by 5? Similarly for question 3, which illustrates a 3:1 mechanical advantage, shouldn’t we divide by 3?
I too seem to be understanding pulleys this way. also if the line is hooked to anchor it is an even number and if the line is hooked to the weight it is even. so this would make kevin correct, no?
I’m trying to become a firefighter, I need a little bit of advice about how to go about that. I have a clean driving record. Never been in trouble by the law. I really want to make this happen but im not to sure how to go about this. Any help would be appreciated
Where can I get a guide to follow along with these questions? I got through all of the math videos just fine but trying to imagine these questions as well as figure them out without a picture is a little difficult.
Hey Abraham! Thanks for the compliment, glad you find them helpful! I’m getting ready to make more videos soon...any topics in particular you’d like to see?
@@mike_pertz Passed both my FireTEAM and CPAT but they never emailed me back to continue the process. Starting the fire academy now in April and MDFR opens up in May, so I'm going through all these videos again to prepare me for the civil service test. Thanks again!
Liquid pressure doesn't change by volume it changes by height. This is why pressure can be measured by inches of water or inches of mercury. So let's say they are all filled to 30". That means there's 30 inches of water of pressure. Or 1.08274 PSI.
The aptitude test where I am from are far harder than this math especially you can’t use calculator or scrap paper and have 5 seconds to answer the questions they also do not use basic math witch makes no sense haha
