He'll be proud of you no matter what. Do what makes you happy, when you join a brigade, take him out for a beer or bring a 6 pack to his house and tell him. Then, listen:)

Oh how I miss my job, my career, my shift! Been gone since ‘04, can’t move like I used to. But I miss the men that I worked with and the job. I dream of the calls and they were all bad. They haunt me and I see a therapist now….but in an instant, I would go back. To all who drag hose, blow the black snot….God’s Grace and Peace to you all!
BEST 30 years of my life, spent in the er in the Fire Department. Never trade my experiences, friendships, joy, and love for anything. GREATEST career in the Universe. Stay Safe my Brothers!
Best job in the world we get to help those in need and it is an awesome experience to know that we are making a difference and giving people a second chance when they need it. I have just went on 3 years of being a firefighter and I love it. I love all the people out there making a difference and giving people a second chance at life when they cant do it themselves
Hey to all the firefighters out there thank you Thank you for all you do I don’t know what it’s like running into a building thats on fire but that must take a lot of bravery It’s my dream someday to become a firefighter Thx for all the likes
Not bravery champ. Just wanting to make sure no one gets hurt and helping those that are is what gets us moving. You worry about it later :) learn from it, and no matter what... keep going. It's annoying when people think x,y,z people are 'brave' or someone is special for doing something. Were all just people.
Yup, volunteer here... I do it fo free! Nothing beats being able to help someone in danger and the look on their face when they see your coming. 100% the reason I and most of us do it. Can't help everyone, but there's a few jobs you get to look back on and think how lucky we are to be able to do it.
This is amazing my father and his father before him gave his life to this job. I hold their hat and burnt watch in memory can't believe what they went through to save others. I personally hope I can live up to them being heors. Fire fighters are a different breed. They all have my respect.
Everytime we get a call we never know what’s gonna happen but we do it because we care and we all want the same thing we want to help make a difference in someone’s life and honestly since I started I have met a lot of really nice people that want the same thing and a lot of them have joined the same fire department as me and it’s awesome
I never got paid because I volunteered in 3 different fire company’s when I did it and I enjoyed doing it for the area’s I was in it is one thing you never forget
3 more weeks until we’re done. We’re training high rises this week, state practical and written next week, RIT and bailout the next and then sole HR stuff and credit union. We graduate on October 2nd
Every shift im ready to meet my maker. To function in dangerous situations, you have to disregard your your survival and well-being. I used the same thing in Afghanistan on patrol. Do you job except you have no control.
