Los Angeles County Firefighters retrieve a Public Works bulldozer that was stuck in the Santa Monica Beach shoreline on Saturday, June 4, 2022.
According to Los Angeles County Public Works Spokesman Kerjon Lee, Los Angeles County Public Works was performing seasonal maintenance at the outlet of Pico drain on Santa Monica Beach on June 3, when a small dozer became stuck at the shoreline. A second, larger dozer was brought in to assist and, while the initial piece of equipment was freed, the second dozer was caught in the rising tide and remained in the shoreline overnight.
Early this morning, LA County crews returned during low tide with an excavator to clear sand in front of the dozer. Two additional dozers and winches were brought in and the dozer was dislodged and safely removed by 9 AM.
Public safety and protection of the marine environment remained the County’s top priorities during this incident. There were no injuries and no impacts to the environment. Public Works ensured that the equipment was safely secured overnight and an environmental cleanup company was kept on standby but was not needed.

So proud of Los Angeles County Fire Department (red dozers operators) who came to their aid. The video is fantastic and my son, in the red dozer, with the help of a second red dozer finally got the job done! Way to go #6 & #7.

The death of a CAT by seawater. Lol. Did someone forget to move it when tide was coming in? Had a friend leave a CAT 988 in a bog, watched it sink to over wheels and then called insurance. WTF happened here?

What's with the P.W. laborer running around barefoot standing next to his P.W. Crewleader. And Foreman. That's Clowny County leadership for ya.

I don’t know why they didn’t just have that low ground pressure D8 that was sitting there get behind the dozer that was stuck. I know that they didn’t want to get another one stuck, but with the lgp tracks on it, I don’t think it would have. Just my opinion.

Is it just me or in the beginnning were they attempting to pull the stuck CAT while it was in gear and the treads locked? Finally, they used the two red earthmovers in series, rather than tandem, to pull on the stuck CAT which they finally put in neutral and unlocked the treads.

Only in cal would they call the fire department to do the work of the city road/construction/water crews. I wonder if a DEI hire was driving the dozer? Maybe the dozer identifies as a sea lion or fish.

@@agustinhidalgo405 what I didn't understand was they had that lgp D8 sitting there, why wouldn't you put it behind the stuck dozer and then daisy chain the two red ones together. I don't know about you but I worked a lot of years in construction and that's how I would have done it.

@dozerboy67

@@agustinhidalgo405 for sure, a friend of mine ran a job like that down in Florida. They push the sand up on to the beach at low tide. It makes for a better beach I guess. I’m surprised though that anyone would cut a fng loose on a dozer where getting it stuck is a real possibility. You’re supposed to use low ground pressure tracked dozers for that type of thing. 🤘👍
