Penacony isn't finish yet, the dreammaster is still around at the penacony and also, Adventurine encounter Boothil. So Firefly will be coming back but she got not enough time before her third death has been followed by her script.

the serious ship tease between trailblazer and firefly is one of the best part of penacony arc, they just meet each other and developed a serious bond, some say that she is the canon partner for the trailblazer regardless of gender.

In what I had thought of, though I know there are others that had thought of like this too, as well as other videos I've seen, Firefly did leave...with the Astral Express crew.
