They did a nice job of converting current technology into a stove. Basically the Mr.Heater Buddy rigged like a lot of people have done already. Dual purpose. Can't beat it. They make great quality gear.

Anything I have from Firemaple has been top quality. I would not grill directly on the grill, as I don't think it a good idea to drip grease in the ceramic element.

Indeed, the unit looks great. The shipment to Canada really didn't take long. I think it is easiest and quickest to use for frying scrambled eggs, heating a sandwich and as a heater, not for cooking full meals. I noticed that your unit has the same problem as mine. The foldable legs are not fully stable on a flat surface (the unit rocks slightly). Of course, I corrected this defect at my own risk, just as I removed the tripod mount, because it rotated in the hole and I attached a new adapter. Best Reagrds.

I love stoves too, and I love Firemaple products. Opening the case and seeing the brand new shiny stove is better than finding jewelry. Looks like one of those rectangular GI cooking pots would be perfect on it. I'm looking at the stove on their website, but I do not see the case in the description. Where do I find the case for it?

This is the second time I've heard not to use this heater inside. You mentioned good ventilation when using isol obtain canisters. What is the reason for that? Just the normal Carbon monoxide concern if the oxygen gets burned up in the area?

I love the concept of this, and looks like you get a nice big hotspot in your pan for even cooking. 😊 How would you rate this in terms of efficiency compared to a conventional burner stove?

@pauljs75

Looks nice. But I'd be a little cautious of cooking anything that could drip onto that type of ceramic element heater. It could be a thing prone to cracking from thermal shock or drips would just sear onto it in a way that's impossible to clean off. (I think that's why you usually see those in space heater setups but not stove tops.) Still the idea may work better with something setup as an intermediary hot-plate to go over it and protect it from those problems.

Umm yeah a few things missed in this vid. Not sure if it was because it wasn't demoed in real world conditions or because it is a paid sponsorship. -This stove is expensive to run seeing how it only uses isobutane. -There is no regulator. So in the colder months, the emptier your isobutane canister gets, the poorer the stove performs, which leads to longer cook times, which equals more fuel usage. -In other reviews, I've seen the grill constantly come loose when handling the stove. -When used as a heater, heat radiates in a very small narrow band and that band shifts with the wind. -The top of the grill is extremely slick. Pots will slide right off if not careful. -The tripod feature is useless because the hose isn't long enough for the canister to reach the ground, not even on the shortest tripod. -According to the company, you cannot use this in a closed space. Recommending others to use this in a tent is reckless advice. -According to the company, stainless steel products with a mirror-like finish can damage this stove. -The weight is also a concern. This is not a backpacking stove. Folks, be wary of vids void of criticism. Especially when a product has this many flaws.

Pretty much all heaters/stoves waste 15 to 35% heat out a flue of some sort...open coal fires, log burners, home heating like natural gas and oil. Electricity is 100% efficient in the home but not at the power plant. Simply put, there will always be inefficiencies one way or another at a cost. Warm cloths are fine for 'survival', a nice warm heat source is 'thriving'...it's hard to beat sitting in front of a nice warm fire in the cold like our ancestors done, there's a joy to it and the cost can be well worth it Peetsnort for many. 👍

For actually cooking you don't need to have the boiling temperature of the flame. I am talking about raw food to cooked. I think this might do the job well. Just would like to test outside in the breeze

If you wanted to use it as a heater in a closed up, semi to well insulated tent or shelter, what you could do, is bring a big pot, put a lot of water in it and get it up to a hard boil while there is good ventilation in the shelter right before you go to sleep, turn off the stove and quickly close everything up, and just let the warmth of the water radiate out (with a cover on it to keep the steam in it). Water has a very (unusually) high specific heat capacity (like 6x that of sand)--meaning it takes a lot of energy to warm it up and it can absorb and hold on to a lot of energy. It is not typically used as a heat battery in larger systems because of its one major limitation---it's phase change temp is low i.e. it starts to boil off into a gas/vapor at 212 * F/100C at ground level. Note, this method would be pointless at higher altitudes because the boiling point lowers too much for it to be useful. In that case, the pot can be filled with sand, rocks, etc. But you do run some risk of potentially damaging your pot in that case. Do NOT use aluminum pots, but stainless steel or titanium and with a lid that has some kind of pressure release (and if it doesn't, you can drill a small hole into the lid). But same process. Heat it up while there is ventilation, turn the stove/heater off, and close everything up and get some radiant heat. This will not heat the shelter that well, and it wouldn't be anything like running the heater overnight. But it is safer and you save more fuel provided your shelter has some insulation. It would be pointless doing this in a typical single walled tent or those with mesh and waterproof wall. At minimum, you want the tent/shelter's ceiling area to be lined with IR reflecting material like space blankets or preferably more robust versions of these. It has to be on the inside and the shiny side has to be directly facing the heat sources (the stove/heat battery and you). IR reflectors need to directly face the heat source with the shiny side, and with an air space between it and the heat source to work.

Everyone that says this stove is great... Have you actually used this this outside... On a normal day... That means wind/breeze??? Because my stove literally goes out with a light puff of wind!! And that's at max. It's also really loud for "sunflower heat"
@jerk_store
@jerk_store 5 месяцев назад
Sorry for replying 4 months later but... The wind doesn't blowout the stove but the area of heat projection is very narrow. That narrow band of projected heat will shift with the wind. Read my original comment for all the cons. Seeing how the guy didn't mention any of the long list of cons, he must have received the product for free, which usually comes with a binding contract from the manufacture that tells them what to say and not say.
@adamjohnson6137
@adamjohnson6137 5 месяцев назад
I appreciate the reply! My stoves actually go out. The heat disappears and I'll smell propane. And like I said... They are loud. My actual sunflower heater makes no noise. Their customer service is not desirable either
