Firepit? Removing the drum from an LG direct drive motor washing machine tub. 

My LG washer quit working and the part I need is not made anymore and the few stores that have it in stock want almost as much as a low end new washing machine so I scrapped mine. A friend of mine bought it from me for a $100 bucks and plans on using the motor, hub, and drum shroud to make a homemade windmill. He said once he disassembles everything he will give me back the inner tub for a firepit since my current washing machine tub firepit is reaching the end of its usable life. I've had my current one going on 7 or 8 years now and love it. Once it gets up to temperature it radiates heat nicely, it gives of a cool light display as the fire shines through all the different holes, and doesn't break down as quickly as store bought fire pits. I also live in Northern OR. and leave it outside all year round so 8 years is a pretty good run. The only thing I found that lasts longer is a 120 gallon propane tank. If you cut the top 1/3 or 1/4 off a 120 gallon propane tank you can use the top for a fire pit and the bottom for a burn barrel. They both last a very long time.

Will you use that LG's drum to make a firepit? Just a question. Anyway even though I like LG, its PCB is extremely hard to fix, or just imagine you may have to change the PCB, thus not worth to do. At least LG washing machines are at least ok because they use screwed tub which makes easy to remove the drum to replace the bearing or spider if broken. Unlike European Whirlpool group of Indesit/Hotpoint, and even other brands like Hoover/Candy, Electrolux Group of Zanussi, ÆG, etc (expect the Electrolux washing machines which are sold in Vietnam are using screwed tub, maybe some models, not the older ones), etc, would use sealed tub, thus it makes serviceless, impossible to replace the bearing, unless if the sharpened tools are used to cut the tub (not easy to do so)

You should have just removed the plastic and mounted the drum on the wheel so it spins
