I've been analyzing this topic in my head for a bit, so I wanted to just throw it out there. IS firewood both a product AND service, or can it be only one of the two? Let me know your thoughts. Enjoy!
You are absolutely right. The firewood is a product we can get into at many different levels. You are creating real value directly from a raw material. With a bit of processing, you make it available to the consumer and that's the service. To the end user it now falls under one of two categories: wants and needs. It's often easier to sell something to someone they "want" over what they "need".
I agree. In fact,,, I've had repeat customers literally post comments on my ads/posts that they appreciate the service I provided to the community. And,, the vast majority of my sales are from a roadside stand. Focus on making quality firewood,, treat everyone with respect,,, and you will get repeat customers

from what i have seen your service is top notch. i bet it gets you a lot of return business. are you going to have more mini bundles on hand? or was the customer fine with the 2 day turn around. like he didn't need it until the weekend, etc.
Definitely a lot of returned customers and happy first-timers. I should have mini bundles on hand, yes, just in case I have a buyer and I'm not home to fulfill the order. The custom who ordered the four mini bundles gave like a four-day window of when he wanted his bundles, so the two-day turn-around was fine. I think he was impressed I got back to him so soon. Well said Travis. I do the same i will text you your load and give tou an ETA. If the GPS says 45min i will tell them 1 hour just to calculate a little drive time.
When I started I advertised in a University newspaper, they had the income to spend on a service of firewood delivery. Many were long term customers after started and they referred their friends. Granted I was only doing 200 full cords a year, but one cord a day is like an apple a day moto.
@@travisdoesfirewood There is a phrase to remember; " you pay to have a stressless lifestyle, and it pays forward many fold" Time is money and to spend 10 more minutes to unload and stack, gains many benefits the customer likes.
if you sell firewood it is a product... but if you go and split peoples wood for them and provide wood for someone that relys on that heat to survive it is a service imo
