Winter is coming! Good morning Back 40 family. Always a great feeling you are prepared for cold weather. Hard work paying off!

Most likely Sooner than Later for the Boiler this year. My Honey tried to surprise me late yesterday by turning up the Propane Furnace in the house. She must have gotten busy and warmed up on her own... I turned the power on to it this morning! LOL You have a great team going there, Amanda seems to really pitch in. I have to Work at it to get my Team assembled! Yak at ya tomorrow night, Blessings to Ya's!

Thanks for making me feel great about my own set up. My little wood stove won’t start for a while and I only burn 6 face cord a winter. Seeing how much you moved today makes me happy that I don’t have to move that much wood. 2 bags of wood a day keeps the house and my family toasty till the next day!

It's getting close, thats for sure. And one of the main reasons why I love our wood stove. In these "shoulder" days before it gets really cold, I can start a small wood fire in the stove and just take the chill out of the house. Last year I think it was into November before I actually turned on the heat. Just a small fire in the wood stove kept the house warm all day. Great video Dan and Amanda!

Yes I agree here in northern Ontario Canada the morning temperature at 6 am was a crisp 27 degrees F and wet . The last few days geese have been flying over , up there really high , so going for distant . Keep up the good work

Here in southern ont canada things have gotten cooler but living in a crappy basement bachelor , won't see the furnace turned on till i'm going to bed wearing a topcoat .

Not happy at all about firing up the boiler... It seems like im always behind in the wood whoring department.. nothing split nothing cut... its going to be a long winter...lol

I just don't understand why you handle your firewood so many times. I skid my firewood logs and tops to landings in the woods where I block it. I then drive my tractor with 3pt splitter and elevator to the landings and the blocks get lifted just once onto the splitter by hand or with the lifting tray if they are big and heavy. The elevator sets under the splitter and split wood goes into my home built wood trailers that hold 1-1/4 full cord of wood each.. I have 4 trailers so I can unload on rainy days. The split wood comes directly off the tailgate at waist height and gets stacked directly into the woodshed adjacent to my conventional wood/coal boiler. Split wood is only touched by hand twice . Once to stack. and once to stoke the boiler. I burn roughly 1800-2000 cu.ft. of wood each season.

No warming fires needed here. Still in the 90s and air quality in the "unhealthy" category due to all the surrounding forest fires.
