Nice setup Elliott! Hey... I like 16" wood for my place. That's all I cut. I keep a 8' stick of 3/4" pvc conduit with black sharpie marks all around every 16" the length of the stick. I leave this on the pile to get all my cut marks so the wood runs pretty true all the time . If you hit it with the chainsaw, no big deal.... it can't hurt the chain. Also, I true up my piles so the one end is pretty much squared off and cut two logs at once.

You might have seen my firewood marking device in the beginning of the video, the zip tie off the handle. It’s cut to 16” from the bar. I go do mark them, flip the zip tie out of my way and go to town. I try to get the truck driver to line my pile up nice but it doesn’t always work oit

@@EverythingElliott I did see you marking , but I didn't see the zip tie, pretty cool idea. I see some guys using rod gauges fixed to the saw as well. I ended up with this " story pole" with marks on it probably ten years ago after seeing the loggers using sticks to measure pulp logs at the header. (The paper mills only want certain length) thanks for your great videos Elliott!!! FYI,, the rains this week made a mess here too. We are east of you in saratoga ny.

Nice cutting/splitting session Elliot. The box wedge produces a lot of firewood quickly but the HUGE benefit for me is that pull back arm. It eliminates so much physical effort! If you get a chance send me a sticker… I need you on the “Wall of Flame”!

I can’t wait to get this mulcher going. As you saw in this video though, my property is a swamp. Gotta get it to dry up a little more before I venture into the woods

Man, that is one nice set up you have there Elliot, that ash is really nice wood to work with isn’t it. I can’t imagine how many cords of wood you could split with that splitter, you could be two years ahead on your firewood, if he kept splitting like that all summer long

You could just put sides on one of your IBC totes and put that under the conveyor belt to catch the trash instead of tying up a trailer.

But then I’d be tying up an IBC tote. If I got a small garden trailer I could easily pull it away and dump it near the burn barrel

Would You Consider Putting some Gravel on your Property,

For it to be useful it would be a huge cost. I have about 3’ of top soil on my property, I would have to take that all down and put gravel on the clay.
