If an engine is out of time it won’t necessarily not work, it will just perform much more poorly than intended and could probably break from knocking.

Looks like a digital display added to an old school airplane engine to monitor internal conditions.

@LJ Re I guess this is sort of a video for us radial engine geeks, but essentially it’s showing the throttle/fuel delivery on the left, and on the right it’s showing a front cross sectional view of the radial engine being controlled. Those are all cylinders/combustion chambers.
