Side sleeper here and never knew I should be sleeping on a softer mattress. For some reason I have lived my life thinking firmer means more support. Well no wonder my pressure points hurt daily! You guys have taught me a whole hell of alot! Thanks!
Im a side/stomach sleeper, but I also start on my side. I prefer a medium to medium soft mattress since I never sleep on my back. Probably always lean towards a medium to be safe.
I tend to like softer mattresses because I’m a side sleeper, but medium mattresses seem to be OK as well. I really like the pressure relief that these type of mattresses have
Thank you for posting this! This is great knowledge to pass onto friends and family. I recently referred a family member to your website when I found out she was looking to order a new mattress and she is finding the knowledge very helpful too.
I love soft beds, I need something that is good for back and side sleepers, I haven’t been able to find a mattress that works for me since I had my accident, I love your videos, you have helped me learn a lot, It’s nice to be able to get an honest review 😀
Great information....Good to know I could get the plush softness I need with a pillow top. I need plush for my joints as a side sleeper with RA, but also need support for my back. Thanks!
SOFT AND PLUSH for me. I am side sleeper and need that plush feel especially on my shoulder. I find the right pillow is important too, to help keep the pressure of your shoulder as well as proper neck support. Nice Cool environment and clean sheets are a must too.
Thanks, this was one of the more crucial videos that everyone should watch or listen to. It explains a lot and directs you into the right direction for each individual need.
I am a combo sleeper and also need relief for back, shoulder and hip pain, but at the same time if it sinks in, it causes me more pain and also numbness, so I tend to go for a firm mattress with good support. I have tried a softer one and I woke up with more problems than when I'm on a firm one and for hip pain you do mention that support is needed so FIRM for me.
Thanks for the info. I've always preferred a firm mattress, but it can't be thin. Still need plenty of material, so as not to bottom out. I sleep primarily on my back and like to sleep on top, rather in the mattress.
Definitely firm mattress. After watching the video, I say our firm preference is somewhere between 7 and 8.5 Great questions and great answers. I'll definitely remember to rotate our mattress. Thank you.
First, totally unrelated to the mattress, loving the new look Logan! 👍🏻 Second, thank you for giving more in depth details re: soft vs firm mattresses. I think my struggle is, I want a super soft mattress but my body doesn’t agree 😢 The same time, a medium feels too firm for my hips and shoulders. Been on a hunt for 4 months now and have had no luck with the mattresses I’ve tried so far. The search continues! 😫
I tend to be a combo sleeper who typically sleeps on my back or side, but there are days I will take a nap on my stomach. I should look for something with zoned support in the future.
I’m a strict side sleeper and usually like a mattress between soft-medium soft. I like to sink in my bed and like the pressure relief they offer. I don’t sleep as good on anything else
SOFT AND PLUSH for me. I am side sleeper and need that plush feel especially on my shoulder. I find the right pillow is important too, to help keep the pressure of your shoulder as well as proper neck support.
I am a "softie" sleeper. I sleep primarily on my side and I have some hip pain. from this video, I understand that i need to watch out that my mattress is not too soft - I need to have proper support as well. I certainly know that my current "too hard" mattress is a real pain in my side - literally! LOL!
I prefer a firmer mattress. Had a pop-up camper once and the firm mattress in it was awesome. That was when I realized that I prefer that over a softer mattress. Thanks, Logan, for another great video.
I think a firmness level of 5/10 would be the best choice for me. I sleep on my stomach, back, and side so a mattress with medium firmness might work pretty well for me.
Omg, I am a (5’5 height) side sleeper and have been sleeping on the same twin size mattress for like 8 years. I can feel the box spring through it I guess because it is just so old and because of my weight on it but I am DESPERATELY in need of a new one 😭 😭 because I have back, neck, shoulder pain most days of the week and it is terribleeeee
Hi. I'm quite small at 100lbs and 5 ' tall. I'm a back and side sleeper. I start on my back and then flip side to side during the night, so prefer some bounce so I don't get that sink in feeling. I've been looking at the bed in a box options as I seem to like the foam mattress feel but I'm a hot sleeper so looking for one less warm. I'm in Canada so would prefer a Canadian make or one that ships free to Canada. Been looking at Recore or Endy but would love your suggestions. Thanks!
Hips sinking into the mattress can cause lower back pain for stomach sleepers. Also, it puts your neck in a locked position that is bad for mobility. Look in the medium range for a combo sleeper. Something in the 6.5/10 range
I need a more firm, very supportive mattress. I have back and hip issues, and my fiance has spinal and back problems. I wake up often in the night with pain.
I thought I was a medium kinda girl because I need both firmness to support my frame and softness to cushion my pressure points. Unfortunately, I've been forced to modify my last 5 mattresses to try and make them work.....NOTHING WORKS!! I think my only option is to hang upside down and sleep like a bat.
I lean toward the soft side. In the last 6 years I have had 5 life-changing back surgeries. The pain I have each day is sometimes unspeakable. I have tried many mattresses and seem to getting closer to what might work best, but it is more soft than firm.
I'm pretty sure I like a mattress that's in the middle -- not too soft, not too firm. That said, it's been so long since I've had a new mattress that I'm really not sure what would be best for me now.
