We purchased the same generator, and at $599 that is an amazing deal. Took 15 minutes and I had it up and running on propane. We are going to Arches National Park in September and will be using this.

No problem! The dual fuel was defiantly the biggest reason (beside the price lol) I purchased it. No more gas smell or gas going bad!!

Good video. The parallel idea is awesome; for the cost of two generators and a parallel cable (probably $1500 total), you get 6000W of running power from inverter generators! That's more than enough to run an entire house (and super-quiet), although the bigger items like an electric hot water heater or clothes dryer will need special consideration (ie: you'll have to turn some things off before starting the 240V appliances).

@@metzbeadventurous46 I’ve started the break in process. I changed the oil at one hour and I was really surprised at how much fine metal was in the oil that came out of it! So far so good!!

In my other generators I noticed a lot of fine metal too. I haven’t yet changed the oil in this one.

I grabbed one on day one of the sale. Brought it home, running Royal Purple Break In Oil. Have been trying different loads on it. It will run my house furnance without issue! I added a 1hp drill press while the furance was running... It did bog the generator down, but it didnt cut off. Also, did your unit have the new car smell to it? Mine did! Also ordered a magnetic dip stick and an extension cord that plugs into the 30a out.

I have magnetic dip sticks on my older 2000w generators, great investment! It totally smelled like a new car as soon as I cut open the box.

@@kyleerickson3382 it’s not too bad. I have a brand new Honda EU7000i that is 81 decibels under load and the firman is about the same. Honda is just quieter when under a light load.

I own this generator and it is amazing!!! I run my camper without any issues. It also runs my food truck with all my cooking equipment without fail. I still can’t believe it’s $599 and people are buying other brands.

Does your battery off button work properly? I've pressed the button down for 3 seconds to turn on & off, hit the starter button and it cracks the starter every time, doesn't seem to be disconnecting the battery? I would've like a simple on/off button not this hold for 3 second button. Any thoughts?

Hi. The documentation says it can run up to 9 hours on 1.8 gal at 50% load or something like that. What about runtime on a 40 lb propane tank? Would you be able to test that out? Thanks.

I also have the Firman 3650 that ran until 1451 hours before quitting. This duel fuel is more reliable to start because it’s a manual choke whereas the automatic choke sticks in the cold weather and is more of a pain in the ass.

Thats a good amount of hours for a generator that size! The manual choke is definitely a plus.

@@A_Man_In_His_Van I believe it was just the motor as it was producing electricity until it stopped running. I have a new 3800 a-ipower duel fuel and it is actually better than the firman. Quieter and more powerful plus it shows the load and fuel gauge.

Thanks for the video. I was really nervous watching your baby son so close to the generator and propane and sitting in the back where the exhaust comes out. His tiny lungs - wouldn’t take much to be poisoned by CO2. The generator is very quiet. I was surprised at how quiet it was. I have a Firman and it’s very loud. It would be hard to talk over it even at 10 feet away. This one is much more soundproof.

Inverter generators in general are much more quiet than a typical 'open frame' model. It's not just soundproofing; the entire design is very different.

Just got one, runs great with the battery starter, I ran a test on propane up to 3050 watts and it took it like a champ. But there is no way in hell I can make it start using the recoil with propane. I have not try gasoline and I am not planing to for the moment. Have you try to start it using the recoil?

I have not tried to start it that way with propane. I'm trying to stay away from gasoline as long as I can as well.

I've been considering this genarater at Costco for a wile. We hardly ever lost power (thankfully for that). But when we do, what an inconvenience / could be an inconvenience if we wanted to keep the refrigerator cool or plug a TV and DVD player in, etc. Also looking for something small so if we wasted to take it camping. Thanks for the video

Glad you enjoyed the video. Our generator is also playing double duty and will run the fridge/freezer and internet next time the power goes out. I have a long heavy gauge extension standing by just in case.

I just bought the Westinghouse igen4500df generator. Looked at the Firman and others. Chose the Westinghouse #1 because the controls are on the "front" vs the "side" which works best for my plans. #2 as an electrician I am very familiar with the Westinghouse brand. Plus it matches the blue stripe on my RV. Ran my RV with AC on and my electric smoker all day. Worked great. Like that Firman though, really nice.

That’s a solid generator choice, does yours have the remote start? Also what kind of electric smoker do you have. I have been looking at a smaller smoker for the camper.

@@metzbeadventurous46 yes, remote,electric and pull start. My smoker is a Masterbuilt 30". About 36" tall with the legs and roughly 18x18" square. 3 racks, holds quite a bit of meat, but you would have to cut a brisket in half to fit it, manual chip feed but they make an auto feed pellet version also they have a gas version. It fits perfectly on my RVs bumper rack, just have to strap it good.

Sounds like you could smoke enough food to feed a army! lol I have been look at the table top pellet smokers but they don't offer much cooking space.

@@metzbeadventurous46 ya, I've been BBQing for a while and kind of figured what I need that is small enough to feed a couple people but big enough to feed a decent sized group, but also small enough I could deal with it. It does make it easy, holds temperature great. I prefer my old school offset smoker but it's too much to deal with most of the time, and traveling with it is a pain. Me and a guy at work are planning to build a wood smoker that will fit on my RV rack. Then I'll have the option to go either way. If your looking at one just for camping they have a gas one too, so you don't need power.

can this unit run a 14000btu RV AC without having to modify it with a soft start on the AC?

Well, I ran my Jayco travel trailer the other day with this and on propane. It runs my 15K btu ac, charges the battery, all the lights, two tvs, and it ran the microwave. No overload light came on but man, when the microwave kicked on, it was loud. It’s definitely not the quietest generator by any stretch. So much so, I’m considering taking it back. I really like everything else about it other than the noise.

I could definitely see how loud it could get with that heavy load. I have always turned off the charger or the AC when I need to use the microwave for a minute. It's another thing to do but keeps the load down.

I would reread the manual/quick start guide and take your time. Sometimes one little step can mess you up. Hope this helps, it’s hard to say with all the variables!

That little guy should not be walking around with that screwdriver in his hand. He could fall on that and impale himself. Being a retired EMT I have seen this injury. Rare yes but does happen. Also, children's ears are much more sensitive and are easily damaged by loud sounds. Just something to consider. Don't get me wrong it's great to see you having interaction with your son the most important thing for him. Always think about safety and remember anything can happen. You always have to imagine the worse scenario.

WoW… So I was considering the Harbor Freight Predator 3500 equivalent. My only issue with it is that it does not do propane. I hear no other complaints on that Predator though and people say it’s SUPER quiet…

I've never heard complaints from anyone who has actually OWNED a Firman. I've had two (dual and tri fuel) and they've both been great. Plus with Costco return policy you actually have zero to lose. Personal preferences

I could NOT focus on the generator because the baby was being neglected. This video is scary! A baby should not be sitting right next to that loud piece of equipment. He/she definitely should not be playing with a metal tool of any kind… let alone walking around with it next to his face! I was mortified.
