Firman Tri Fuel Generator that is set up to run on propane. It runs ruff when started and quits after a few seconds. A Clogged exhaust was the culprit.
240 volts times 50 amps is 12,000 watts. My mistake. Point is I had a 50 amp Generac that said 16,000 watts. It doesn’t calculate. Volts times amps = Watts.
You don't want to run a gen at full load. So if you had a 16k you could run it at half load and the gen would handle it no sweat. I too have this firman and would like to upgrade to a 24k generac one day. Also, on LP, this gen should probably only be ran at 3300 watts (13-14 amps) which is way less than my 19 amp water heater and 8 amp well pump need to take a shower. Thankfully a 10 minute shower should be okay since it's not continuous.
16,000 might just be starting watts. Even if it's running watts, it could include the 50A outlet *plus* other outlets. And if that's the explanation for 16K, it could also be overrated, as so many are.
Purchased in early 2021 and I never used mine other than to turn it on but tried it out today in Dec 22 and so my battery was drained but that must've been my fault from leaving battery cables on. I recharged it then it turns ons but backfired after running it on LPG and have no idea what's going on with it. Oil seems right and any idea where to go from there?
