Another issue to report, I now lost internal mic recording. The internal mic on the camera no longer works. I would use it for scratch audio and to sync with external microphones.
Same here. Never updated. Still, it's ridiculous how sony is treating a7s3 users and on top of that, after the firmware breaks your camera they have the audacity to charge users between 700-1600 as a minimum repair fee if you send it in. Fucking retard greedy company. I'm never buying another sony camera ever again.
Upgraded my S-III from 3.01 to 3.02 about 2 hours ago. So far, I see nothing strange. AF seems to be fine and normal. Internal mic is fine. XLR adapter is fine. Bluetooth and Sony Monitor & Control app is working perfectly. For the past two years, my S-III has been my studio camera for all things, including all-day Zoom meetings. I turn it on at 8:30am and shut it off at 6:00pm. So, it always runs all day without stopping. I'm doing long-term 4k, 60p record testing now to see if I can get it to overheat but so far, she is acting perfectly normal.
Update - I did several back to back 4k 60p long GOP tests recording to simultaneous 256gig cards at once. Filled up 5 sets of cards with no heat errors. (my heat settings have always been set to "high" for all the years I have owned this camera) I have been running blue tooth all day to an Android tablet running the Sony app. Video transmission seems to be smoother in 3.02? Anyway,..."my" S-III is working fine. My S-III is an early, first assembly line build. I pre-ordered it the day it was announced. Maybe later builds have an issue?
I’ve updated my A7S3 to version 3.02 and lost the use of the internal microphones. Even when using the jack input, it doesn’t work either… I had to buy a digital microphone that attaches to the camera’s hot shoe to make it usable, but it seems like I’m the only one experiencing this issue! And since I bought the camera from the grey market, there’s no warranty on it… I’m forced to wait and hope for a future update to fix this problem!
I have had this problem as well, Which digital mic are you using maybe ill have to buy that too, sony center are charging roughly $900-$1200 to fix the issues
Thanks for your sharing. I've upgraded my a7IV to firmware version 3.02, luckily mine has no issues that you mentioned, but I haven't found any improvements either. Next time I would rather keep the current version other than taking any potential risk of it
I stumbled into this video WHILE I was updating from 3:01 to 3:02 a few hours ago. I've tested the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, internal mic, and filmed for over an hour non-stop in 4K 25fps 10bit. I haven't discovered any issues with my Sony A7s III so far.
GAHHHH. thanks for this. i made a reminder to check back here a few weeks ago to see if people were reporting the new 3.02 being an actual fix for the other 3.0 versions
I use the Sony a7iv and some of the same issue are happening to me, haven't checked any wifi or bluetooth stuff but the memory card, overheating and battery drain are something i have noticed on 3.02 was on support with Sony and here techs are adamant that the firmware is not the problem. Honestly Sony needs to allow for downgrading on there cameras and test out firmwares before release with better quality control.
I know another person on RU-vid that has the same issues with Bluetooth and causing it to crash. Sony is notorious for bad firmware updates with their headphones and I had that problem. I won't update my fx3 ever due to that. I bought my camera for its original features. I heard people are experiencing issues with their atomos monitors, and 3rd party batteries.
I really HOPE this is not a universal issue and its just a one off but im afraid that it might be affecting quite a few cameras out there. Ive never had any issues and yes I updated to 3.02 and I dont see any issues yet. I hope it wont happen! Mine reads the V60 card without any issues and I dont seem to have any wifi or bluetooth issues. Another thing is I barely use this monster of a camera and never have. Im not a videographer so I mainly use my A7IV but keep the A7S3 pretty much brand new so I really hope their bs updates arent gonna ruin our extremely expensive cameras!
I have an A7s3 that experienced the same problems. Luckily I have extended warranty. It took 2 months 3 weeks to get it fixed. They had to replace the mainboard. From all the problems I've read, I think that there are batches of a7s3 cameras that use a particular bluetooth/wifi module and it's this that isn't compatible with the new firmware. On sony's website they deem the bluetooth/wifi malfunction a hardware issue. Total BS!
The 5.0 update to my FX30 basically broke AF on all my lenses, adapted don't work at all, the Sony 18-105 sometimes works but defaults to MF at random times, the Viltrox 1.4 primes have been the best but still are on MF at camera start up. Also my playback is doing weird stuff... I don't know how to explain it but is seems to do something different every time I use it... and I need it to LiveU to one client so thats just annoying af.
Well I'm on 3.0 and my camera locked up completely 3 times tonight. Like the off button didn't work each time. Had to drop the battery out. So I've upgraded to 3.01 and actualyl want to upgrade to 3.02 but can't lol. The camera literally won't let me.
@@TomWadeCine Yeah...on my a7iv, I saved the presets and reset to factory ...did not fix the usb connection issue. Also, the Sony Pro service tech said that custom button settings would not cause this error mode... There are a couple of set up settings that could prevent the usb connection, but mine were configured correctly. I have the check list and will confirm when I get my camera back...About that🙄 after all of my foot stomping, Sony discounted the original $750 down to $525. Still a LOT to pay for a problem I did not cause on a 16 month old camera. I forgot that I bought the camera with a credit card that had a 2x the original (12 month) warranty benefit (up to 3 years of extended warranty). I never used an extended warranty before, and never actually had a problem with a Sony product before. The card honored the claim so I agreed to have the main pcb replaced. Precision Camera will return it to original specifications and update the firmware to 3.02 They also agreed to test the usb to camera drive connection after the update to 3.02. I am cautiously optimistic. Last, the 3.02 update was released on July 30 2024. I hardly ever use Creator's App and by bad luck, on August 10, 2024 I decided to review Creator's app to use it as a remote camera trigger for astrophotography. That is when I learned about the less than 2 week old update. (Creators App asked if I wanted to update the firmware) My takeaway is that unless an update actually fixes a problem I have experienced I will not install the update. Even if it does address an issue, I will not apply it until time has passed and I research the heck out of it.
Man, that update was the worst! My A7siii totally fried after just three days with the new firmware. Had no clue how it happened. I had to take it to Sony for a main board replacement, and it set me back about 900 bucks. Just my luck, right? Super disappointing sony
I'll pass on this update. Plus I didn't even see any instructions about how to do this update anyhow. The previous updates were firmware that involved clicking and following steps, but this downloads as a .dat file that doesn't even open and it asks me if I want to look for a Microsoft app to open it, which I don't. It would be nice if Sony would explain how to do an update when it offers one.
@@TomWadeCine fortunately my ZV-1 came through with the clutch, but absolutely ridiculous that a software update has killed such a spenny camera. It can no longer be recognised via USB either, so can't troubleshoot. Damn it Sony, you massacred my boy!
My fx3 same issue no WiFi or Bluetooth connection. Camera restarts if I don’t put it in airplane mode. I have to remove battery to get it to turn on as well
@@TomWadeCineduring may2020 I turned my a7ii in to brick by interrupting update .sending it back to Sony wasn't an option.i sold it to my friend (and upgraded myself to a7iii),he somehow reinstalled software (definitely lost legal support and warranty) he used it for another year until sensor stabilizer broke.not sure how but I know it was possible on a7ii models.
Was zur Hölle!!!!!!!😢
DO NOT INSTALL 3.02 ...IMMEDIATELY AFTER INSTALLING 3.02, THE A7IV COULD NO LONGER CONNECT TO MY MACBOOK. Sony said...we'll take care of it. Send it to Precision Camera. NOW, Precision Camera is trying to charge me over $600 ..."usb issue on main pcb...BULL-LONEY. The camera literally worked perfectly up until the day I installed 3.02. (Also: did it in camera with Creator's App. It was a mistake using Creator's App)...3.02 broke the camera's ability to access mass storage. BTW The camera is 16 months old. This "quality and customer service" I can do without.
DO NOT BUY ANOTHER SONY CAMERA, THEY ARE DOING THE SAME THING LIKE THE FAMOUS COMPUTER COMPANY. MESS UP YOUR GEAR WHEN YOU UPDATE SO THAT YOU CAN BUY A NEW ONE.
