Given the fact that all of the top comments are people referencing The Long Dark, I think you're right. Putting it in that game was a fantastic idea for everyone.
Just installed it.. 10 seconds in to the intro credits I hear this song, get goosebumps and immediately came here to look it up. I can already tell I am about to experience a true work of art.
"I've learned to tell the difference between something quiet and something abandoned. This goes deeper than just a stillness. It's like the moments before the world goes to sleep... but we're the only ones left awake to notice it."
What I love about First Aid Kit is not that they are lovely singers--they are, with haunting, angelic voices--and it's not that they can obviously play musical instruments (unlike many "musical acts")--nope, what I love is their songwriting. The lyrics express emotions or tell a story, just the way good folk music should, and yet are ambiguous enough to stand the test of time. These young women are the real deal.
Completely agree! You can truly feel the heart and soul they pour into every song. And unlike a lot of other musical "artists" First Aid Kit absolutely nails depth, complexity and a constant feeling of hope and warmth.
zdenislavski z Sounds like we better ask Socrates for the solution. Oh Socrates, Wise philosopher, how do we make Croatian bands more planetary popular? Socrates: hmmmm I think they should record in English to be worldy popular. Or the entire music industry needs to convert the world to Croatian. Thank you Socrates!
Anybody else playing the long dark in 2021? Everytime I hear this song, I think of all the memories and the amazing story of that game, what a talented group of singers
"The Lion's Roar" Now the pale morning sings of forgotten things She plays a tune for those who wish to overlook The fact that they've been blindly deceived By those who preach and pray and teach But she falls short and the night explodes in laughter But don't you come here and say I didn't warn you About the way your world can alter And oh how you try to command it all still Every single time it all shifts one way or the other And I'm a goddamn coward, but then again so are you And the lion's roar, the lion's roar Has me evading and hollering for you And I never really knew what to do Well I guess sometimes I wish you were a little more predictable That I could read you just like a book For now I can only guess what's coming next By examining your timid smile And the ways of the old, old winds blowing you back 'round And I'm a goddamn fool, but then again so are you And the lion's roar, the lion's roar Has me seeking out and searching for you And I never really knew what to do Sometimes I wish I could find my Rosemary Hill I'd sit there and look at the deserted lakes and I'd sing And every once in a while I'd sing a song for you That would rise above the mountains and the stars and the sea And if I wanted it to it would lead you back to me And the lion's roar, the lion's roar Is something that I have heard before A children's tale, the lonesome wail of a lion's roar
Their songs are songs of truth and about life. Age means nothing if you have a handle on what is and what isn't. I'm 64 years old, and I love this duo. Good music is ageless. I first saw them on Jools' show and fell in love with their sound and songs.. Keep on keepin' on ladies. Paul Bradford (no relation to Daniel)
I always had the philosophy of "you only have one life live it how you want play hard, work harder and love more than anything then life will be fine in the end" too many people are chasing money I just want a small little piece of land that I can build my home on and live my life with my love and retire to a life of listening to this music, smoking a j and watching the sunset in the bed of a 76 elcamino cause it's good to have a youthful dream around too for me it's that car
i want to thank all those at Hinterland studios for having this be the theme of "the long dark" thanks to them I learned about a beautiful new song and band. plus I'm a metalhead so this says a lot about their musical talent
Wow, RU-vid recommended this video and I must say, I was blown away by this song. It reminds me of a mediaeval bard's song, folk song, a bit of country perhaps, combined with lyrics that are a ballad, a story and these women's lovely voices. I almost didn't click on the video but I'm glad I did!
I'm thankful for The Long Dark for showing me my new favorite band. First Aid Kit hits the aching and natural vibe of folk music so well. i would love to see them live some day 💞
***** you should check out David Wax Museum, an all american folky band which i def hold in as high esteem as these guys. Check out their npr session :)
Saw them live. Incredibly happy I did. They were absolutely amazing. I met them after their show and they were so kind and sweet. If you have the chance to see them live, I definitely recommend you to go. They're perfect!
3:28 love the camera work over here, how they stand there, it just fits that part of the song really well. Still in love with this song after all these years.
@@FrostInFreezer oh man getting your arm bit off just listening to the song that plays when a timber wolf pack is after you, sitting outside despite it being -30 C beacuse you just want to watch the auroras and listen to the noises it makes. its such a good game
This is why I switched to folk music, it tells a story in a way I just love. And it’s so involved with nature, this genre is what made me want to live deep in the forest alone.
I’m from Nebraska and recently learned this was filmed here. This song is from my favorite game, from my favorite band, from my hometown of Omaha. It feels wrong if it’s not my favorite song.
I heard about 5 seconds of the chorus before it kicked to another episode and I had to go back to Shazam this song. Very glad I did. What an incredible band!!! Right up my alley
I don't know how I got here. Never even heard of "The Long Dark." RU-vid autoplayed it. I don't even normally listen to "country" music. But damn this is good!
you can get it for under 25 quid on steam and it is a fucking incredible survival game, none of that zombie bullshit, just you and mother nature in what's left of northern canada after an apocalypse or two
To whoever put this song in The Long Dark. It's not the first time I discovered a band from a video game, but I've never rushed to my phone so fast to figure out who the artist was. Love this band.
It happens very rarely that a song literally knocks me off my feet at first listen. That happened when a German radio station played The Lion’s Roar just a few days after release. The voices, the arrangement, the overall power - wow, I’d never heard anything similar before. I immediately searched and bought everything the sisters had published so far, and I have been a true fan ever since, having seen the band perform live several times. - To my ears, this one remains their best song.
Making tea in my kitchen in London Ontario Canada with this song on. The next thing i hear are my 3 cats meowing their heads off to this song. A first for sure but of course, the lions roar. True story.
I'll be real, i have been playing Long Dark since backing the Kickstarter, and had NO IDEA about the group that made this masterpiece. The first time i heard it I got so oddly emotional and put it on repeat for a few hours. This is music that touches your soul and changes you.
I can`t believe this masterpiece was found by me only nowadays. I was searching for it since I first heard it in The Long Dark intro to the second episode, and now , I found it. And I am glad that this exists.
No, Abu. That's not the reason lol. Swedish Record companies aren't as mainstream as the American ones, which is why Swedish music isn't very well known ^^
Have just heard the lion roars by first aid kit, fantastic song, beautiful voices, great lyrics and backing music, also a strange video which is to my liking, best song I have heard in years, looking forward to hearing more music from these girls, well done ladies. (Now that’s praise indeed from a ardent LED ZEPPELIN fan)
Me playing “The long Dark” Friday 13th January in Canada 🇨🇦 Ontario with a snow storm 🌨️ cascading across my town in my Denim & breaking in my new cowboy boots ❤❤ New boot Goofin !!
My other favorite is when there’s a wolf pack walking through environments that change with the drum beats. And then the last one is so dark you can only see the tops of the trees… but the previous shots imply the wolves are still there. This song is five minutes of sustained chills for me 😂
I found them through the Blogoteque channel, they do those takeaway shows. First aid kit has this song as a takeaway show on there. It's one of their best live performances of this.
Dan Hicks I found them through a wildlife programme that Gordon Buchanan did and has the track 'Wolf' on, just two lines completely blew me away and I fell in love with the sound. Thought it had a Native American vibe to it. Just incredible. Thank you.
