Hi Elise! The cute blue box with the embroidered lid is a sewing box. They were very common when I was a child .Every Mom knew some basic sewing skills, whether it was sewing on a button or hemming a dress or a pair of pants. Some Moms made dresses from patterns on their sewing machines, but every home had at least one of those boxes. I know you can still buy them today, either at a fabric or craft store. The dresser that you saw at the thrift shop for putting on make up is called a vanity. That was a beautiful antique! Back in the day, bathrooms were smaller, so they didn't have any counter space around the sinks. The ladies would fix their hair and put on their make up at the vanity in their bedrooms. I remember my grandmother would always put on her makeup in front of her dresser. I really like how your dressing room and entryway have developed! Love, love, love the beautiful garden. Love the dress you had on in the beginning while working at the shop. It stays very hot here in Atlanta Georgia USA til the end of October so autumnal colors in summer weight fabrics are a must.

I believe the needlepoint box is actually a foot stool. If you sit at a table or desk to work on your computer, you could use it to prop your feet on. Or just put in front of one of your chairs to raise your feet. The fact that it has some storage is a bonus. You could put your remote controls in it. I really love your fashions; they are so cool. Ooh, that cute embroidered storage stool could be either for your sewing machine you said you wanted to get and you could keep thread, bobbins, extra needles, etc. Inside. You could use it for painting and to sit on, of course. It wasnt a silly purchase. Youre going to get so much use from that, i know. THAT little stool with storage would look great in your bedroom. You could put your feet up on it when you're putting your sandals and shoes on. Tuck some hair accessories or big necklaces or small scarves or gloves/mittens, brooches, extra makeup, and so on, and so on... I love it! It'll match in every room, and the storage is a bonus. You could put it in your living room next to your sitting area in the window.
