Another beautiful build! Brings back childhood memories. Back when pickup trucks were pickup trucks. Someday, I want to build a '59 Chevrolet Apache. GREAT work as usual.
This wasn't one that i really wanted to get, till i watched this. All new tooling, and the trailer, plus the great emblems.. Chris, I'm gonna go broke if i keeping watching you make these great kits!
As-always, many thanks for another great video. This has got to be one of the most anticipated kits in recent years. Now if Round2 could only get it actually released to the modeling community, it'd make a lot of us happy! 😊😊😊😊
I always get a new idea, tip or trick from every video you make an I appreciate that thanks for the time an effort you invest in your videos Cris 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Another great build and I like the fact this trailer is a bit different from the others I've been seeing of late. I like these older pickup models - this one is fairly simple to build unlike the later model Moebius ones but seems to go together fairly well and a good paint job makes it stand out.
I enjoyed watching this build because it brought back memories. Waaaay back in 1974 my dad bought a pale blue '57 Ford F100 Custom Cab long bed Flareside with a bad 6-cylinder engine. It featured a 4-speed "granny gear" transmission, the small window in the back of the cab, and no radio. Dad and I changed that engine and that truck was the vehicle in which I learned to drive. Dad sold the truck in '75, and I last saw it in a parking lot in Oklahoma City in the late '70s. I would later discover my truck was one of only 1800 like it made in '57. The Styleside and the short bed versions were more popular.
another thought/suggestion Hpi. Perhaps make a whatever model of parts left over from any of the models unused (from one WI guy to another) always a Thumb Up from this Squirrel.
Dig the color choice. The white walls with stock "dog dish" hub caps really highlight the look. Oh - and the interior is sweet - the "tree" shifter "sells" the look. Thanks for this one!
Very nicely done Chris! I'm absolutely loving that two tone white and green! That trailer is definitely a nice touch! Can't wait to get a couple myself!
I own a '63 that a short split cab and bed. It has 23,000 original miles V8. You did the inter fenders perfectly. Another radiator support is body color. Your engine looks great. Factory the 292 was all red. Can't wait to get this kit as I plan on making a ford car hauler for my thunderbolt.
Chris I looked up this old classic and oh yeah! I came across a box art for the 62 truck and there was an out line of the alakart on the trailor ! So I see where my project is going! Pure nostalgia!
Chris, keep doing what you're doing. Your videos are the best, and entertaining! I do the same thing with my builds. Like you said so many times, "build for YOU!"
I'm so glad to see this reissue of the 1960 annual kit. The one I bought in '60 is not in the best of shape after 70 years. I hope if it sells well and more of then will come out. In the mid 60's some of the 59 and 60 curb annuals were reissued as junior kits...just thinking
Man, I can't wait to get a few of these. I have some old original built ups but it's nice to start with a new kit. Great job with yours & great video as always. Thanks for sharing!👍👍
Another great build! Love the color combo! This got me thinking...have you ever done a video of your display area and your work space? I'd love to see that.
Very nice looking model. You did an outstanding job on this one. I don’t like the molded in rear end, exhausts, and driveshaft, but I don’t think it will stop me from buying one. Thanks for sharing.
Nice build, when I was a kid there was no way I would build any car model stock. However, after watching a few of your kit builds I may build at least one or two stock.
Like the video and the review. I think this will be a nice kit for me to build, the trailer will be great for hauling a race car. Have a great day and keep up the great work.
Love this build (love and learn a lot from watching you). Heck - I immediately found one to add to my stash and think i will follow your lead on the two tone color. But maybe a blue color appropriate for the era as my main color. Have a couple questions. 1) What exactly is ModPodge and what do you use it for in reference to model building. 2) How do you 'touch up etc" your parts that dont get paint while you paint them on the sprue? 3) Im guessing you are using the Aleenes Gel Glue to glue painted parts together - is that the case? Thanks for the inspiration and ill admit i have bought more than this kit cause of the cool stuff you make look so good and so easily!
Thank you for the tip about the wheel backs and inserting them into tires. Without that info, I likely would have forced things I didn't need to force. As much attention as Round2 paid on details like hood trim pieces, I am totally surprised they did not include a decal for the tailgate "F-O-R-D" letters. Round2 should also update this kit with stock powertrains, the 292 V8 and the base I-6. Tri-power engine was not a production motor for this truck, to my knowledge.* * However, the valve covers for a tri-power were more than likely painted gold.
Every time I watch your videos which are all and you show the Kaiser silver gel pen I pick up the phone and search for it. I can’t find it anywhere? All the Kaiser I find are neon or pastel colors. I know you’re a busy guy but could you direct me where to buy. Thanks a million. Beautiful build by the way!
That is a carry over design from the 1957-58-59 Ford Pick-up truck. As the 1950's came to a close, Chevy and GMC changed the design for 1960. Ford and Dodge did Not change their body style until 1961, The Big 3 pick-up truck makers. Note Chevy and GMC are almost the same kind. Only labeling is different
only reason I cut As much as I dislike AI voice I really wish in 2024 creators would use more narrative explaining what they are doing and so on than muzak.
I’m only 73 so I could be wrong….But I’m thinking in 1961 the 292 was black with red breather and red valve covers, the 352 was black with blue breather and blue valve covers and the new 390 was black with gold breather and gold valve covers. The colors was the only way back then that I could tell the 352 from the the 390. The 292 valve covers were held on by two nuts on top of the valve covers. Hope this helps.
dipping my toe in the water so to speak iirc there was a thunderbird engine in those days that had gold colored valve covers. i don't remember if it was an option or a swap, i'm a little younger but i was working for firestone and goodyear service centers in the early 80's and saw a lot of engines doing oil changes. i don't see anything wrong with chris's choice in engine colors, its anybody's guess what that engines has had done to it in 64 years.
@@phantom629 I believe Thunderbirds had silver painted breather and valve covers. Don’t hold me to that because as my age goes up my memory goes Down. And for some reason, my pants belt-line has gone up with my age to under my arm pits……
Outstanding build Chris! Funny thing, from the moment you did the unboxing of that kit I knew you were going to use Sage Green on it! What is the allure of that color? I'm doing the Revell Land Rover in that color and it's perfect for it! Any time I see a truck kit my Sage Green trigger finger gets to itching. And yes...my '60 Ford pickup will be Sage Green too.🤪😜🤣
@@lylejohnston4125 Just because the two kits came in the same box doesn't mean you have to make them work together. 'It's your model and your world, do what you want to do with them' is what I preach in every single video.
