For the Scout you can get an alternator for a TD-42 early 90s Nissan Patrol and it will fit with minor modifications to the bracket. It is 80 amp instead of the stock 30 amp, includes a vacuum pump on the back side for your brake booster and EGR (if you havent taken it off already), and will run you $150 instead of $700.
@davelowets
@davelowets Год назад
The vacuum pump would be quite handy for a vehicle with a radical cam in it.. I used to use a stand-alone electric vacuum pump from a diesel Ford truck, and a vacuum reserve can, but the electric pumps would wear out fairly fast when doing vacuum power brake duty.
@agentcrm
@agentcrm Год назад
Derek, Those TD42 alternators are easy to find in Australia (yeah shipping will suck) if you're struggling to find one in the USA. pretty sure we also have higher than 80 amp ones available if you really need it.

@townhall05446

My very late Scout II Rallye with the turbo diesel needed an alternator and in pre-Internet days that was not easy. I ordered one from JC Whitney and paid extra for rush shipping, and after about two weeks they notified me that they couldn't get it for me. It's a shame that the Scouts rusted so very badly, as they were so well made mechanically. Mine was made sometime in the last couple of weeks they made Scouts, with the Rallye package and air conditioning it had most of what you could get on one.
@kenny3217
@kenny3217 Год назад
@@townhall05446 Thats really cool, mine is an early-ish 1980, the build sheet says November 12, 1979. It has the Rallye steering wheel and factory A/C but steel wheels and poverty caps and no graphics. My dad wanted a Scout and it was the last one the dealer had available. I repaired 100% of the rust on mine, coated all interior panels with POR-15, and drilled drain holes so it wouldnt fill with dirt again. The Nissan SD-33T is slower than molasses and builds boost like a dog but it gets 23mpg average in my Scout and is extremely reliable.

You have spent some crazy hours getting the truck to the start up and man did it sound great. The shock on your face was worth watching every single minute of this build. It didn't even seem like it was working to lay down the burnouts of your test run. What a truck Derek, you built this burnout truck putting in long hours and worries about how everything was going to work together. It works fine and you will clear up any bugs you come up against. Perfect timing to the finish.

For your truck burnout vehicle. Have you ever tried fiber reinforced plastics? It's like paper machet .. you can fabricate your own hood and body parts pretty easy. Start off with a custom cardboard body, if you want it curved, sculpt with spray foam, then add the two part composite resin to your fiber glass fabric (to it on the cheap with any fabric lol). It's the quick easy body form. Could work for your burn out truck. Cool body oil paint stuff 🤩looks amazing! Keep being awesome Derek! I love your channel and what you do 😁👍
