Download Opera for free: opr.as/82ji-trektrendy Wishing you a Happy New Year. Let me know what other cruise content you'd like on the channel this year?
Hi it’s Louise from Surrey in England - I live in a rehabilitation centre as I suffer with secondary progressive multiple sclerosis and lupus I’m bedbound, or I’m wheelchair bound - I love your vlogs/videos As I can only dream now about the places you visit and the amount of transport~ and for that I thank you ~ I hope you have a great New Year and I look forward to watching all your travels - sending love and hugs ~ Xxx
After finishing the video in full, there is nothing to indicate that this was a “lux” experience for the price point. For $14k USD, you should not have to pay for any extra add ons at all.
Obviously never been on a cruise 😂 everything is extra. Been on Virgin myself, and it was amazing. Only thing you pay for is alcohol and excursions. Even with the alcohol, they run a 'free' bar credit of $600 most of the time anyway
A serious marketing blunder here, awful experience given the cost. Truly moronic to ask for extras from someone who has already paid top prices. No idea why this is even top quality, having been on many Cunard cruises this doesn't appear to come close on any level .
I came here for the luxury travel videos, but stayed for the family content. It's so heart warming to watch you include your loved ones in your travels and spend some quality time with them. Wishing you a Happy New Year :)
@trektrendy, I am so thrilled you include your parents with you on your trip to Alaska! I cannot think of a better way to celebrate and honor your parents. I lost both my parents far too soon (2017 for mom, 2021 for dad) so cherish these special moments (which I know you do). Great video!
I have a small group of RU-vid channels that I follow, including this one (of course!) I’ve just commented on another channel - it amazes me the high standard of content that is produced and edited by one person for whom this is often not their main job. Give me this over what the likes of the BBC and ITV churn out any day
Agreed! I do think this is his job now, but I appreciate the quality as there are so many other channels that aren’t as good but have similar (ish) success.
That’s quite possible, yes - either way I think it’s fair to say he’s not in an office job! ….but a lot of the other channels I watch share that they have full-time jobs and it amazes me how they do it
Your parents are just lovely. You will never regret a single day traveling with them. Time time flies, and they are not with is. Just enjoy this time together as a family! It is precious!
Very nice to watch. BTW, I noticed your suite is called "Willem Barentz". It is named after the Dutch explorer that after making an atlas of the Mediterranean went on to try to find a Northern route to Asia. This lead him and his crew to Nova Zembla etc. Mind you this was around 1594 and onwards, so different conditions to be sure 🙂
Happy New Year Mr. Trendy! Way to start 2024 with one of your special over-the-top cruise videos! You outdid yourself this time as usual. Too bad Millie couldn’t go but I suspect something special will be coming down the pipeline later this year. Just curious, did you prefer HAL or Royal Caribbean? Seems you weren’t too keen on the HAL food offerings. Looking forward to your next adventure ❤️✈️🎆🥂
Thanks for watching and a happy new year to you :) I did feel quite let down by the inclusive food offering on HAL, but the room was lovely and it was overall better value than a Royal Caribbean cruise. I just wish cruises would stop with the constant upsell aha
@@Trektrendy Just a booking tip for Royal Caribbean: I do believe you were in a loft suite before, and those need to be booked anywhere from a year to a year and a half out to get the best price. I think you paid almost double of what I normally pay for a loft suite.
@@Trektrendy While I fully understand the upsell for "regular" passengers, it's disheartening to see them try it so often with you and your top of the line fares. But as always, thanks for showing the entire picture good and bad.
My Mom and I always travelled on HAL. She used a walker and everyone watched out for her and were so kind. We did Alaska, Hawaii (3) times, Bahamas and Mexico. Loved them all.
I spent 21 nights with Holland America mid December, as part of my plan to spend 10 months last year living on cruise ships (as a passenger). Their cruise product is just so beautiful - the onboard experience is excellent. The key difference in our cruise experience is that I was in an inside cabin down on Deck 1 - much more basic than your experience here, but I really enjoyed it!
I love that with your success you’re able to treat your parents to a luxurious holiday. What a way to pay them back for bringing you up. Well done to you all!👏👏😄
Both parents!! Gotta love that!! So cool you do this Will and for sure it's expensive...but they are your parents...they should be spoiled once in a while. I offered to take/pay for a trip or two with my Dad and Step-Mom, but sadly they never accepted. My Mom on the other hand...let's GO! Haha. Maybe that's where I get my travel bug? We didn't travel far, but cool trips to Reno, NV and Lake Tahoe were awesome! The Reno trip was paid for by Peppermill Casino...HA! 50 cents in the slot.....BIG WINNER! Loved that one for sure! Bummer Millie couldn't get the time off. She's awesome and adds to your reviews!
Another excellent video. At a time where luxury travel like this is unlikely for most, it's enjoyable to watch from the comfort of a living room. It's great to see you sharing these experiences with your parents Will!
Your videos are some of my all time favourites to watch, as a student, you’re allowing me to live through your videos and content, and I couldn’t be more grateful!! I hope your 2024 is amazing!! Thank you so much for showing us all of your trips :)
love seeing your mom and dad together! great work as always man! Question: What do you do when your flights/ cruises/ trains end? I've always been curious. It would be neat to see a video about that if you'd consider it
Your videos are the best way to start 2024! It's so sweet how you travel with your parents and give your parents the nicer room (just like how you gave your dad the nicer bed on your train trip). What an amazing trip and amenities!
So great to see you and your wonderful parents! I love you take them, or one of them on some of your great adventures! Miss seeing Milly on this cruise. Happy New Year to you all! Love your channel.
My friend, you convinced me to book this cruise. Did it last night. Booked for my birthday in May this year. Pinnacle suite was sold out, so I chose the Neptune suite. Thank you for your videos. I hope to see you get to 1 million subscribers in 2024!!!
Aside from the location and stunning scenery I would be disappointed with this cruise. Far too many extra expenses and the buffet looked truly awful. I have never been a fan of these buffets on cruises and find they are all the same poor quality, ridiculously busy and just not a nice atmosphere.
I've been on many cruises, but Holland America was hands down the best. I won a 7 day eastern carribean cruise for two and a charity benefit silent auction. Completely unexpected. What we experienced from end to end was nothing short of amazing. From the rooms, to preparation, food, entertainment, crew/passenger interaction. It was a highlight reel for my life, that's for sure. Only downside, it was mostly older senior citizens, old school blue hairs from New York. They were pretty stuffy and obnoxious.
Will disagree about stuffy New Yorkers unless they are from downstate. We live in real NYS and NOTHING stuffy about us. HAL does trend older but we are seeing a shift.
Another fantastic video, this time in Alaska! I was lucky enough to spend 2 summers cruising in Alaska, during my 4 years working on Cruise Ships. It still looks beautifully serene, some 30 years later. I’m sorry Millie wasn’t able to join you and your mom & pop. Happy New Year!
Loved the vid! But Juneau is pronounced like joo-no. Rhymes with Uno, or like the goddess Juno. I’m actually related to the Juneau it’s named after so wanted to mention :)
Looks like a great cruise overall! Not sure I appreciate Holland America's seemingly deliberate strategy to suppress the quality of the buffet food to try and upsell the speciality dining option so much though, even if I can see why they would do it.
I did this cruise and the buffet food was amazing! It was a fam trip with Holland and I saw how everything was cooked. It's a luxury brand they dont need to do that!
@@leonardordel92 Oh that is surprising to hear! I didn't realise Holland America is a luxury cruise line. I thought they were more of a Premium Cruise Line like Cunard. Noted on the food though! Perhaps taste is more individual. Did u try any of the speciality dining options? If so, was it a lot better than the buffet spread?
My thoughts exactly. I don't mind the idea of specialty restaurants where one goes in knowing there will be an upcharge for all the food and the experience as a whole. I find it very distateful that all of the restaurants upcharge for the dishes that most people would prefer to order. For the amount he paid for that cruise, there are many, far more luxurious and entertaining vacation options out there with more world class dining options than one can possibly exhaust.
Some humble advice: I think a lot of what people want to see is just more luxury in general not just planes and stuff, and these are a great step in that direction! In the future you can try hotels or other luxury experiences.
Another fantastic video as always. Out of curiosity, what kind of special equipment do you use to get some of these shots? Do you use a drone? Do you have to get special permission/access from the ship for a proper vantage point? Perhaps it’s a lot easier than I realize.
Wish i could have seen more of the nature, whale watching, glaciers. That is what makes Alaska cruises special. Otherwise, it is yet another big fancy ship.
Video editing and video shots are all first rate Will! I've never seen what a Holland America cruise ship looks like inside so you did a nice job of giving a feel of what it is like. Holland America doesn't sail too often from Florida. The video shot of the main theatre stage suggests a much older crowd sails on this ship too. I was sort of surprised the ship wasn't more luxurious though nice to see Caviar and Dom served. Alaska looks amazing. One of these days soon I'll take an Alaskan Cruise!
Oh, I try hard not to be envious of others, but the ship, suite, amazing food, helicopter rides, glaciers, a jacuzzi and Alaska itself somewhere I'd love to visit, so while I'm not drooling on the floor with my tongue hanging down out of my mouth, I am just a little bit jealous! I wish one of MY five children would take ME on a luxury cruise one day! It's just lovely to see your mum and dad with you this time, and hopefully, we'll see Millie on a cruise or another adventure somewhere soon! Happy New Year! I want to see you and your family, and I can't wait to see what you'll be bringing us in 2024! Take care now from country NSW Australia.
Yeah! Trek Trendy video drop on my last holiday before returning to work and it starts out of my hometown of Vancouver, Canada. Walked those very steps Trek Trendy did by Canada Place many, many times.
Greetings from Redondo Beach CA USA 🇺🇸. Thanks for this video as I am not a big fan of cruise. However, this video stirred my curiosity and interest in cruising. Now, I am checking the prices for cruising to plan my next vacation. Cheers 🥂
I’ve never commented on one of his videos even though I love to see how the elite travel and eat. The only part of his videos that is normally boring is the food portion which is disappointing because that’s usually my favorite part of cruise videos. I find them boring because he usually chooses the same thing, beef, champagne, caviar and diet soda. It was a pleasant surprise to see him eating something different for a change, bravo! I hope he switches up his choices a bit more often. I also enjoyed seeing what his mom ate as a vegetarian. So I would say this has been one of his better videos. I really enjoyed it.
I have sailed on this line and I totally agree with those comments. My partner ate buffet once in 6 days. I passed. Just as nice in the dining room but served at our table. Sure there aren't 9 bazillion items to choose from, but it's also quieter and much less crowded. An easy trade off decision for us.
Hey there, I think I met you before! I was at Pizza Express, you were in your Orange Nissan GTR! You let me sit in the drivers seat and get a photo! Thanks!
Pretty, unpretty, disgusting excess. When people, tens of thousands of us,even in the 'first' world are suffering depravation homelessness and starvation.
Great content as always, thx... First Class suite, 11000 pounds which seems reasonable, baring the fold out, It Is a Suite and they have the brass to (a) not supply priority escort through baggage & customs (b) not supply priority entrance to dining (c) Not include at least 1 spa treatment, (d) cheep out on the drinks package among so many other smaller details.. NOPE. They are not seeing my coin.
Will, I simply loved this video. And you are an amazing person and awesome son. Your parents was so delightful, I enjoyed seeing them again and together on your channel. I truly like when you do excursions on cruise ships. Will you be traveling on any new trains? Thank you for providing your viewers with honest and valuable information for future destination when planning trips. See you next time. And hi Millie! 😊
We just got off the same ship. Very nice and I enjoy my cruise. The food is excellent! We didn’t pay any extras for meals. The dinning room and buffets are excellent. Nothing to complain. We did the Christmas cruise, there are 3 dressy night. The crew performed and sang. Such a great treat! .We did not eat at the specialty dinning coz the dinning room served some fine dinning and yummy dinner. No reason to pay extra. We already booked our next cruise to Norway with Holland America. Holland America balcony room is very nice. Def going for balcony if doing warm weather cruise.
I would sign up for this cruise every season! Even though I'm not usually a fan of cruising, I think the Inland Passage is the smoothest option, and I love all the natural wonders along the way. If funds were available, your suite looks fantastic! Thank you once again for taking me along on your terrific journey!
It was interesting to see that you had to pay extra fees to get anything better than ‘average’ - esp in terms of soft product.. would it be possible to know the basic price you paid , and what all the extras added up to ..? Another great trip report though. Thanks 🙏..
Can't wait to watch this - your channel is one of the few I watch every new video. Thank you for all your hard work - as a youtuber I know how much work it is! Tell your mom I loved her green dress! Your parents must be so proud of you.
I went to Alaska on HAL’s Koningsdam last summer and my experience was very similar to yours - Alaska itself was incredible, HAL’s service was terrific, but the food was underwhelming with the notable exception of Tamarind. Even Pinnacle Grill was disappointing IMO.
It’s always baffled my why they put the luxury cabins on the forward and aft sections the BEST! Place for them is mid ships you feel less movement from swells
I see you loved our country; South Africa 🇿🇦 when you've come on the blue train. Why don't you try out a cruise from Durban to Mauritius, or one of the nice cruises they have to offer? You've also gotta try out our newest airline's business class. Lift airlines business class. They've got a chef to design the menu which they have for business class guests. It's really nice. And not many have reviewed it too. And if you're in cape town, why don't you go on a cable car, up table mountain... ❤
This was delightful to watch. I love when either of your parents come along... so to have both of them was very special. I don't think, after watching this, that I'd bother with HAL. First class... you get a nice big cabin. Most ships offer a lot more for their first class suite guests. Where, for instance, was your butler or concierge? Having said that, I did enjoy being taken along for your trip. Happy New Year and may 2024 bring you only good things.
I love your videos so much especially the top quality editing but I wish you would include how you get to and from the destinations, I mean you ended up in Whittier but how did you get home from there ??? Not exactly an £11,000 trip if you still have to get to and from the ship in the first place, did you just jump on a plane home from Wittier or did you go somewhere else ? Also £500 each for that Glacier excursion is a ridiculous amount of money to say your only there for 20mins, I’ve had 4 days in Dubai for less than that
I believe that I was on that same exact ship in the past and wasn't very impressed at all! The cruise I took over the summer was even better than I thought! Anyways great video! Yes I was on that exact ship before but I'm surprised that you didn't say "dam" ship at all!
So sad you didn’t make it to my hometown, Ketchikan. Maybe next Alaskan cruise. Holland along with Princess line does have a long history of sailing in Alaska. FYI, Temsco helicopters was founded in Ketchikan. The excursions give you a glimpse of life in Alaska. I miss the sunsets and mountains the most. I do hope you enjoyed your time in our awesome Alaska.
