My first sawmill. This was a standing dead tree which was pretty hard. I hope green wood is easier. Id like to make some more modifications, upgrades, and maintenance to this thing in the future. Also my very next cut was a much better cut but for some reason the camera stopped before the next cut... sorry. SUSCRIBE FOR FUTURE SAWING. THANKS.

Great job, I've owned serval Bell saw mills and always wanted to take a shot at building one. Believe I'll try it soon. Thanks for sharing.

I'd be interested to see more of this in action if you use it again. It does look a little scary to operate!

After first cut, roll log onto first flat side, cut a second flat, roll again, only then start ripping the leftover SQUARED log. Then you bench cut (along a fence) to desired final sizes.

I cannot believe this came up on my RU-vid stuff. I’m so happy to see your using the mill. I’ve been very curious if it’s been working out for you since you bought it from me. And I didn’t have your number anymore. Pretty cool man. The center lock is meant to be put on towards the back so that the pressure will push back and in as your cutting. If you need anything let me know. So cool to see you posted this. And by the way of interested I have those two Arctic cat sleds that I would like to get out of my ways.and keep videos coming.

Paul Whited, do you have the plans for this build? Looks like a good mill and I’m looking to build one myself

Hello Paul! I just now "saw" this post! How funny that you came across this post! It works.... it does have its quirks and could use some upgrades but it does cut! I will have to take some more video next time I use it. I did recently cut a fireplace mantel from the property which is now over our fireplace and gorgeous.

Good first run, Joe. It seems to be working quite well - I'm looking forward to more on this style / size of mill. Certainly a thumbs up and a subscription. It sure would have been nice to see the blade and teeth a bit closer. - Joe -

What RPM is the blade running? It seams slow. I think it should be 600 RPM but forgive me if I'm wrong. Nice build

Ideal rpm depends on the best circumferential foot per second as recommended by the blade manufacturer -- factoring diameter vs number of teeth vs grade of cutting teeth vs angle of chisels. Never guess your cutting speed. Use science and old timer knowledge.
