The second part of this years Engineering Trains video. In this part we witness various rare permanent way movements, including the first visit of the CWR Train on the Howth Branch in well over a decade!. We also see Irish Rail's brand new Kirow Crane out on duties and some top & tailed Hobs Trains.
0:00 - 0:36, Saturday 29th April 2023, to kick things off we see 071 class loco's 077 & 072, top & tailed on a Hobs train while working from North Wall - Hazelhatch.
0:36 - 1:29, Sunday 21st May 2023, in the early hours of the morning, the CWR Train traverses the rails of the Howth Branch for the first time in over a decade, though the CWR Train would only operate as far as Bayside. 071 class loco number 076 leads the CWR Train wrong road through the Howth Branch platforms at Howth Junction.
1:29 - 2:19, later we see 071 class loco number 076 passing through Sutton Station light engine while operating wrong road in both directions. 076 had dropped the CWR Train just before Bayside Station. And had to use the length of the branch to Howth to run round.
2:19 - 4:12, Next we get an aerial perspective of the CWR train dropping rails between Bayside & Howth Junction, sadly vantage points are really poor along this stretch as the line runs behind houses so the drone was the only option here.
4:12 - 5:14, Next we see the CWR Train passing through Baldoyle Industrial Estate as it continues to drop rails with road railers assisting .
5:14 - 6:57, After completing the work through the night, 076 leads an empty CWR Train from Howth Junction - North Wall, followed closely by the two road railers.
6:57 - 8:04, Friday 39th June 2023. Retro 071 leads an empty Portlaoise - North Wall Materials Train, seen here passing Ossory Road.
8:04 - 8:38, Monday 3rd July 2023, 201 class loco number 220 leads a Portarlington - Platin Hobs Train, seen here passing Grange Road / Humpback Bridge, Baldoyle.
8:38 - 9:28, Sunday 16th July 2023, A rare sight of retro 073 & 220 top & tailed on a Hobs Train while working from Platin - Portarlington.
9:28 - 9:55, Sunday 13th August 2023, 201 class loco number 220 passes through Clongriffin while working a North Wall - Malahide Materials Train.
9:55 - 10:29, Sometime in August 2023, there was a glitch in the dates on this file. 071 class loco number 084 passes through Howth Junction with a North Wall - Malaide Spoil Train.
10:29 - 11:09, Monday 21st August 2023, 201 class loco number 220 passes through Clongriffin with a Platin - Portlaoise empty Materials Train.
11:09 - 11:57, Monday 4th September 2023, 071 class loco number 076 passes through Clongriffin with a Platin - Portlaoise CWR Train.
11:57 - 12:23, Monday 23rd October 2023, 071 class loco number 075 passes through Clontarf Road with a short North Wall - Platin Spoil Train.
12:23 - 14:20, A short while later, 201 class loco number 220 arrives at North Wall with Irish Rail's brand new Kirow Crane, which worked from Kildare - North Wall.
14:20 - 14:48, Tuesday 24th October 2023, 201 class loco number 220 leads the Kirow Crane through Clongriffin while working from North Wall - Malahide.
14:48 - 15:26, Later that day 071 class loco number 075 passes through Clongriffin with a Platin - North Wall Spoil Train.
15:26 - 16:22, Later that night we see 071 class loco number 072 passing through Broombridge with a North Wall - Longford CWR Train.
16:22 - 17:20, Friday 27th October 2023, a very rare appearance of two 201 class locos top & tailing on a Hobs Train on the Northern line, 220 & 218 pass through Howth Junction while working from North Wall - Platin. Note that 218 has been converted to run on HVO (Hydrotreated Vegtable Oil) as indicated by the logos.
17:20 - 17:59, After been looped in Clongriffin, 220 & 218 continue onwards to Platin, seen here passing Grange, Dublin.
