I used IDF 4 times. 3 times worked, I even saw the rubbish came out everytime. The one time that it failed was actually the first time I did it, I turned on the IDF saw the rubbish came out floating next to jet ski's side, and then started the engine without pushing the rubbish away. Then the engine sitll stuck, so I had to go down and mannually remove the obstacle inside the inlet. The obstacle turned out to be the same rubbish that the engine ejected out before. At that time, I realised that the engine sucked it in again. So after that time, before turnign on the engine after IDF, I always tip the ski several times to make waves so that it will push rubbish away from the jet ski, avoid sucking it in again.
Finally got around to watching.. Great 1st video. Great ski too! Hope to ride with you sometime this summer. I feel your pain with that failure..extremely frustrating.
Same thing happened to my Fishpro. Was only about 5 minutes into my ride when it went out. When I got it back a few weeks later it went out again after about 10 minutes. They finally got it right and now have just over 20 hours on mine.
Sorry to hear about the IDF problem. I have a Fish Pro with the IDF setup...Knock on wood I haven't had a problem and I'm at 35 hrs. I've read if it is going to break it will be within the first few hours of use. One guy in Australia said they took his ski and gave him a version without with a few $ back. He wouldn't tell me the amount. I hope you get fixed up and back on the water quickly. Be safe.
I was set on buying a sea doo fish pro but not after this. It seems to be an on going issue apparently 7% of Sea Doos have this issue , i am going to wait until next year see if they fix it
This is why I keep riding my 93 Seadoo XP.... no electronics and zero problems, thing looks and runs like new, don't need to spend 25 k t have fun or reliability.
So sorry you had the IDF problem. I could see the disappointment in your face, and hear it in your voice. Awful day on what should have been an epic one. I'm very nervous here in Rhode Island. Waiting on delivery of my GTX 230 with idf, due anytime now. I will be riding alone , and from all the information and horror stories about the failed idf I'm afraid to even take it out past my cove. Thinking about asking for my money back, but have been waiting so long I hate to give it up now. Hope you are able to solve your problems and get back out on the water soon. Have subscribed and would love to see a follow up, and many more of your adventures on the water. Stay well.
Donald it's only 15% of machine s with an issue chances are you will be ok but stay close to shore. I'm back on the water now was only down 3 days. Had a chat with BRP yesterday and told them it's only fair the refund me the cost of purchasing IDF. I would do the same thing if I were you even though yours hasn't broken yet it's not fair that we get to ride with the seed in the back of her head thinking at any time we could break down. Don't ask for your money back you'd be way better off to take it and turn around and sell it as new there with a lot of money right now and people are desperate for them you wouldn't have any trouble getting rid of it and possibly making a little bit of money if that's what you choose to do.
@@ThePersonalWatercraftChannel Thank you for the reply. Now that you are back on the water, how do you like the GTX. I loved everything about the craft when I ordered it, so I'll probably keep it and keep my fingers crossed. Where I live in Rhode Island is such a beautiful area to explore. I can't wait to get out on the water. I'll look for more of your adventures. In the mean time...Carpe Diem!
Love the way they expected this new tech to work…. It’s Seadoo. I guess he did say he was going to stay close to shore because if it… I guess sea doo didn’t disappointed lol
I ordered my 2021 GTX230 in January in Australia & after 5 months of delays I gave up and grabbed a demo 2021 RXTX300 instead. Initially I wasn't happy it didn't have IDF but now I'm glad after hearing about all the issues. Hope yours is sorted & is never a problem again 🤞
Glad I seen this video and read comments sounds like a common issue with Gtx idf. I was debating on this or a Yamaha svho looks like sea doo is off the list.
Can't comment on IDF, but it sucks that you had issues. Seadoo makes a great machine and I am sure they will get it right for you. As with many new technologies, there are bound to be challenges, but it will all work out. Is Yamaha's IDF better? What, it's not an option yet? Seadoo has some great innovations which is one of the reasons I chose Seadoo over Yamaha and I am a huge Yamaha fan. Closed loop cooling and the Linq system were a huge selling point for me. Good Luck!
Sd is too complicated between the carbon seals, idf, closed loop cool....too many things to go wrong for little added benefit. And they do go wrong more often than Sd is willing to admit.....
They should have made the idf system MANUAL. A simple leaver you move back and forward when the engine is off. People are lazy but not that fucking lazy. What is next? a hydraulic system to detach the cooler?
I heard it was an oil issue with parts not lined up properly, between components. I haven't launched my 2021 Fish Pro yet, and now I'm going to call the dealership on Wednesday to find out what's going on ! I was going to launch in the Pacific in Southern Oregon Northern Calif and that could be very dangerous !
So sorry to hear about your new ski. I love my Seadoo, but it is an embarrassment that BRP would release a new technology without thoroughly vetting it. Shame on them.
If it hasn’t happened to you yet it most likely is not going to happen. Usually happens within the first hour don’t ask me why I get many different theories from annoying problem to a weak gear change spring. Thank you for watching my videos though I hope I helped.
So after all the talk about NOT running SDs dry to preserve the carbon seal, why is the shop guy running it dry to demo IDF? Actually a genuine question, what am I missing?
I have a 2008 RXT 255 I’ve had it since 2009 it is more mechanical than electric and what I’ve learned all this years is that the more advance technical electronic fixtures a PWC has the more headaches it brings to the owner but the worst part of all is that all those new gadgets are worthless!
Now I don't feel so bad about occasionally swimming under my old SeaDoo GTX and clearing clogs manually. Not sure how they could miss such an obvious design failure, but it's sad their clogging "solution" was worse than the problem. I hope their Switch boats with IDF don't have this same flaw. Being stranded sucks.
Men! I am picking mine in couple days ( GTX230 with IDF 😱) do you know if you ski was manufactured early in the year or last month ( May) ? Hope they fix it quick so you can be back in the water.
@@bodiejones4844 The simplest way is to turn off fuel and spark, and use the starter to spin the engine backwards, sort of like reverse on modern 2 stroke snowmobiles.
Feel your pain I was one of the 1st ones to have the idf junk out on me seedoo bought mine back takes for ever to get parts I got towed in 3 times keep me posted
Just pulled the trigger on 2 Yamaha ski's. I was going to go with seadoos but I just dont want the headaches that I often see other seadoo owners going through with their ski's.
@@ThePersonalWatercraftChannel I'm also talking from an old point of view. I haven't had a ski in 7 yrs and the last seadoo I had was an early 2000's model so maybe they are great machine these days. I really don't know. I just have buddy's who are ballsdeep in skis and they swear by Yamahas. I just had an opportunity present itself with 2 Yamahas for a killer price so I couldn't turn it down. But I was honestly about to pull the trigger on 2 sparks lol
Was that a Yamaha pulling the sea doo back in?? 😂. Boy that’s telling!! The IDF is the reason I didn’t buy sea doo last year. My FX Limited SVHO has been absolutely wonderful all season long!! Sorry bro. about your experience. Your not alone and u should get your money back!! There has to be some kind of lemon laws or something. So bad man.
I also have an FX and GTX and the GTX has been in the shop 3 times already. This is the last time I buy a BRP product. Yamaha is way better than Seadoo (reliability and construction.) Just open the engine bay and look inside. Seadoo is a mess (don't drop anything because you will never find it.) Touch the fiberglass and you can tell Yamaha does it better too.
OH NO 🙈!!! I going to get a FishPro with IDF. Do you think it’s because it’s an option on the GTX because apparently IDF comes with a Fish Pro. I’m not sure I never owned a PWC before. Newbie
I have the FishPro with IDF without any problems. It seems to be a manufacturing period that has all the problems but a few of us have been on a mission to track down the build date or serial number series that is affected. Once you get over the worry (if possibe) it is a great ski to do some serious fishing on. I did a 70 mile round trip 3 weeks ago without and problems.
@Austin Any engine, the fluids should be changed after break-in Is complete, which is 10 hours with these skis.. if you wanna let the manufacturing burrs/particulates sit in your motor for an extra 40 hours by all means go ahead
I put 6000 kms a year in Southern Ontario and have never been stopped by weeds in my 2018 FXHO, previous models yes, not this one. Get a sonar and stay away from weeds.
When I was putting my deposits down on the 2021 GP1809R in September of 2020 my dealership told me this was going to happen. And they sell Seadoos as well. I was talking with the owner and head mechanic and the mechanic predicted back in the fall of 2020 this would happen. He was looking forward to all the OT repairing these.
Why would you buy a piece of shit Seadoo??? You must have known the issues. I will be buying a Yamaha FX, but only after researched all the problems - transmission O ring seal, IDF, reliability, customer satifaction, just to name a few. Nothing worse than getting a new produce that is just a lemon.
