First day in Lapland, Rovaniemi Finland 🇫🇮

In todays video I wanted to share my first day in Finland. I am visiting Rovaniemi, Lapland for Christmas break. So I will be uploading videos from my travels in Lapland over next couple of videos. Hope you enjoy it.

Hi Everyone, Finally I visited Lapland. It was on my bucket list for so long. I spent my Christmas break in Lapland Rovaniemi. It was truly a winter wonderland. In my next video I will share more of trip to Lapland. Enjoy 😊

You arrived on the 24th Dec that is the holiest/most familiy oriented of evenings for us in Finland. That's when the actual Santa comes and visits kids at their homes in person. We celebrate Xmas on Xmas Eve, not that much on Xmas Day or Boxing Day unless one has a lot of family to visit. Shops typically close off at 12.00 pm and after that people go on with their family Xmas traditions at home. I would have liked you to have a more welcoming first evening in Finland.

@@samhartford8677 Hi Sam, yes that is interesting actually. I only realised this a couple of days before travelling haha 😆 Luckily, I was still able to get airport shuttle, and was able to check into the guesthouse.

Cool that you enjoyed the visit! As a Finn I must say that I'm surprised that Foodora was open 24.12., as I feel like 24th and 25th are the biggest/holiest days in Finland when absolutely everything is closed and most of the people just relax with their families. I guess there is some flexibility in the Lapland as Christmas is also a large tourist season there.

Foodora definitely saved the day on 24th as the couple of supermarkets nearby were closed of course due Christmas break. You are right, since Lapland is so busy with tourist some restaurants were still open.
