I stayed in Manila for 5 years as a foreign exchange medical student (2010-2015). Manila is a great city, people are friendly and always smiling. SM Centerpoint (0:21), a popular mall near the university where I studied. She should try to visit rival Robinson's Mall next time where there's an urban legend about a snakeman lurking in the basement eating poor sales ladies. The creepy snakeman is allegedly the son of the mall's billionaire owner John Gokongwei😃 Everybody loves Jolibee Chicken Joy (3:01). The small red flag means the chicken is spicy. Yuka isn't faking it (3:11). Jolibee chicken is really that good. I've eaten it many times myself and I can say it's hundred times better than all the American fried chickens out there (goodbye McDo😄). Jolibee YumBurger (3:29), another delicious meal made from tender juicy beef mixed with organic earthworms (according to rumors😄). The iconic Jeepney at left (4:22), the country's popular mode of public transportion assembled from old US Army jeeps. Rizal Monument, Luneta Park (5:00) where National Hero Dr Jose Rizal was buried. Stray cats or Pusang-Gala (5:28). Oldtimers in the park told me that in the past stray cats were caught there, turned into delicious dumplings and sold to customers by Chinese cooks in nearby Chinatown called Binondo. If Yuka walked a little bit further, she'd find a beautiful Japanese Garden nearby right beside the Chinese Garden (5:46). Manila Bay (7:15) where you can watch the spectacular Manila sunset famous around the world. Nearby is Ocean Park where sea creatures, including mermaids, viewed thru giant aquariums. The restaurant (7:40) is actually a small eatery joint called Turo-Turo (literally means point-point) where you basically point with your finger what you want to eat. Yuka has ordered a delicious sizzling pork steak with mushroom gravy sauce on a hot plate and Sinigang (8:32) a popular Filipino comfort soup dish similar with the French Boulliabaisse. Masarap (8:54) means oh-soooo-delicious. Yuka's video has brought me wonderful memories of that place. Arigatou, Yuka-chan😃🎉.

On our way back from Japan, whenever I'd see Japanese folks at Narita who were also headed to the Philippines like we were, I'd always joke to my sister "what are they doing? WHY would they ever come to where we're going? They're better off here!" But genuinely, I love seeing foreigners enjoy not just big chains like Jollibee, but even the small eateries that serve "lutong bahay" or "home cooking", like that sour sinigang you had. Glad you had fun here! I'd love to visit Japan again when I can.

When Spain conquered the Philippines they banned the use of steak knives and even the pointy edges of farming blades. That's why Pinoys learned to use spoons to cut meat. But the technique is to hold the food down with the spoon and pull a piece of it with the fork.

This was a nice video that went by really fast, hopefully there are more videos of her travels. I find it cute and respectful the way Yuka covers her mouth when she speaks while eating.

If you're curious about travelling to a country, my advise is to look up if there's a large number of your people visiting that country. Here in the Philippines, Japan has the 4th largest number of tourists in the past decade. The top 3 are South Korea, USA, and China respectively. Anyway, good luck and I hope you enjoy your stay here!

Yuka-chan you made it to the Philippines!!! Welcome to Manila!!! There are a lot of Japan themed restaurants and businesses in the PH. The PH (short cut for the Philippines) and Japan are very good friends. I see you have visited Luneta Park and visited the Chinese Botanical garden (5 minutes walk). The park is very near Manila Bay. Some other places to visit are Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, Ortigas Center (5 malls in a cluster) in Pasig City if you like malls. Jollibee is fast food but is very popular in the PH. If you like pop up food stands with local fare you might want to visit the Greenfield District Weekend market (every Saturday and Sunday 4pm - 12mn only). Be sure to buy an umbrella . It really rains a lot in the PH. This is a wet season. You may notice a lot of Christmas decorations. Christmas starts early in the PH (starts October - December). Enjoy your stay!!!
