Haly, you seem like a very nice person. I noticed a bruise on your arm...maybe you are getting string contact. Maybe try turning your arm out? That paper tuner is very nice. Did you make it yourself? How tall are you? When will you have your own merch?
After seeing that "group" at 50 yards, I think you should have a shoot-off against @pjreilly3997. With his track record against pros, he could use the confidence boost.
Hi haley just subscribed to your channel love your content so far quick question if my first second and third axis are set properly and shooting well but like you feel like im fighting my level do i just adjust my first axis bar to my preference and will my left and right shots still stay in line from 20 all the way to 80 yards. Thanks!!
@@Wackmaster69-c4p hello! Thank you! You can either adjust your first axis to your preference and how it is comfortable for you or play with a side bar if you have one and adjust the weight/angle until it sits better. But no, adjusting your first axis to your comfort hold will not affect left and rights at distance.
An 1 1/2” group at 40 is a bit of a struggle- I love it! I struggle with my hunting setup a lot compared to my 3-d rid too. Totally different game for me. My 30 yard groups are like average 4” with my Magnus BH heads. On your release technique do you have it set to just pull thru and let it break or do you intentionally create pressure with your thumb? I make my best shots on a straight pull with no conscious thought of moving my thumb. Just the natural rotation caused by the mechanics. Enjoying your journey here. 👍👍🏹🦌🐗🦃
@@timbow50 I compete with a tension release but hunt with a button. So I try to shoot the two the same and pull through my button while applying thumb pressure so it’s as similar to what I shoot on the daily!
@@HalyGrine same here on my Wise Choice. I’m set zero travel and tension enough to set my thumb solid without it firing. I shot forever with a Carter quickie and went to a thumb about 5 years ago. I shot my first arrow in 1963. Been at it ever since. But, I’m always looking for info especially from accomplished archers like you. 👍👍
My struggle going to my hunting bow is getting used to the letoff. I’m so used to have to keep on the wall with my target bow then jump to a really relaxed letoff. It’s rough.
Watching you draw the bow looks like you're working pretty hard arching your back like that. Are you working through an injury of some kind, or is that just your style? Genuine quesiton.
@@bopapa_1979 no injury of any kind! That’s just what naturally happens when I draw any bow of any poundage back and some of getting used to the difference in draw on my hunting versus target set up.
Interesting. I remember trying out for the Junior Olympics in the early 1990's (recurve, Hoyt... sorry) and it was remarkable how uniform looking we all were, but with some standouts even then. I always thought archery would converge on "the best way" from sheer statistics, but even 40 years later on your level there are still different styles. I asked because I shattered a shoulder a few years ago and I will never look the same. Throwing a ball, shooting a bow, there is always some mechanical compensation. Drawing hurts like hell, but once I hit the wall I'm pretty comfortable. Good luck to you. I wish I could group that well 😎
I have some educational questions that I would like to ask. Is the poundage you are pulling on your target bow the same as your Hunting setup? I ask this because I was told early on that to stand there and sling a bunch of arrows at 20, 30, 40 etc. isn't the most productive thing to do, fatigue could be an issue on how a person's groups their arrows even at longer ranges. 2nd question, does your sight have a sight tape setup?? I still shoot my HHA sight and shoot at two distances 20 yards and 60. and HHA mathematical equation helps select a tape that goes from 20 to 90 yards for my bow. How would you determine were to dial in for say 26-yards or 37.5 if all your distances are in 10-yard increments?? isn't that defeating the purpose of a single pin moveable sight? Thank you for the content I'm really enjoying it.
@@alexdolly6077 I typically shoot the same weight or a little bit less on my hunting bow than my target bow so that if I am hunting in cold weather or in a tree stand where I need to have minimal movement I have no issue. I shoot 50lbs on my target bow because there are some tournaments we shoot out to 80-101yds. In my opinion, saying that shooting your bow repetitively at different distances and putting the time in is not beneficial is wrong. There are tournaments we shoot 144 scoring arrows so practicing a lot and having the strength and endurance to make it through that is needed and you will only get there by shooting a lot and I believe the same goes for hunting. You want to be comfortable and proficient behind your bow so that when it comes time to make that one crucial & critical shot you are prepared and can make it count. Secondly, there is not a set up tape for the Axcel Landslyde that is on my bow so I am making marks using my top pin so that I can create a sight tape through a program called Precision Cut. I like to use programs like this so that I can build sight tapes that are 100% based off of my specs and bow set up. Because I usually have slower speeds based off of my draw length and poundage I have found that this works best and I am able to have more precise tapes.
Haly, great video. Subscribed. Question: what is the purpose of those two silver bolts in the bottom portion of your sight’s gang adjustment holes? 1:20 Are those rubber dampers?
@@farmerjoemv I’ve played with my draw length a lot and this is where I have found it is comfortable. Most of it is camera angle but I do shoot with a bit of a lean naturally and that is just what works for me.
Gotcha! Not saying I know better and I know cameras make things look WAY different. Didn’t know your background, jour video just popped up on my feed and I was only able to watch the first couple minutes before heading to work. Wasn’t trying to be a jerk, just trying to help Thank you for the clarification!
So much garbage to contend with. So many more chances for having trouble once in the field where you are not shooting in benign conditions as here. I'm for simple and less complex and less chance of equipment failure while hunting
