Love the dash and the auto, man Toyota has put some work in to this car. Auto will definitely get my argument across the line as a practical family car for everyone.
With regard to price, everything has increased a lot recently. I just ordered a C-HR WITH 2 litre and plug in and a few extras and that was £45 before a brilliant Carwow inspired discount bringing it back down to £42k and the stupid part is that paying extra for the plug in to give more green credentials has put me into a wealth tax VED for I believe 4 years. My advice is if you can afford to tickle your fancy go for it. The wife has a 6 year old C-HR which cost £30k in 2018 and she has agreed that if I can get my hands on the new GR Yaris automatic I should go for it and she will sell hers ant take over the plug in. Got to do it before it is to late
I posses a Gen 1, which I bought in July 2023 (Production May 2023). It’s equipped with a Milltek ECE approved sport exhaust which sounds beautiful, it’s equipped with an eVentury carbon airborne which produces amazing sounds and it’s equipped with a special storge intercooler. So all the major problems are solved. Moreover for me it’s more a rallycar than a trackcar. Moreover it’s equipped with the label that it’s a homologation car for WRC. Due to these adaptations, I really not know why I should consider buying the Gen2. Certainly not for the DAT, because this is a real manual driverscar. Certainly not for the dash, which is rather ugly and resembles to the dash of a Mercedes Benz Sprinter. I’m not sure that this gen will be as special as the first one. The differences are way too minimalistic for drivers who not intend to drive it on track. Nevertheless, congrats to Toyota to produce these (Gen 1 and Gen 2) amazing driver machines!👍👌🏁
Great blog ! Not a fan of the dash, I like mine as it is, though all the other modes look good, unsure about the 8speed auto on the road, constantly up and down the gears! Have to see the proper uk reviews I recon! I got same setup as you and running same HP! Off to my dealer now and see what score is 🚗💨
yeah the dash doesn't look great in my opinion. I'd like to try the auto, but I often get annoyed when a computer decides what it wants to do so may find it annoying. I've been to the dealer and they want £1000 deposit but I have info that it will all be done through Toyota UK on their website.

The new car will be better obviously but you may not notice on a road. New dash design is embarrassingly bad. Externally not a lot different but the grey looks good on it
Like the refinements and the new face lift design, i am considering swapping mine since i have kept it standard with no mods. I do like the Grey metallic colour option. I hope to get a hold of one come March.

yes, more vents, bigger bulges. it is not special enough, too expensive for 3 cylinder. a bit overhyped cause of social media but i do like it. i just wished it was even more bold and quirky.
I think once people get these on ramps/technical sheets or crawl under them at TAS a bit more we'll find out more too - I'm really interested in the control arms. Seems like for super Taikyu they were a weak point so got reinforced - if gen 2 gets uprated control arms that's going on the shopping list. Also the oil cooler kit - placement might be interesting but if the oem cooler competes with the others do you mix and match etc... I'm actually interested to know if this is basically a GRNM lite and if GR parts will finally become available outside of Japan through Toyota directly.
Yeah I’m hoping for a lot of the parts to be upgrades to the Gen 1 car. Also I think this will only help the upgrade industry as it keeps interest in the platform.

Mirror gap never bothered me day to day, I slouch a bit in the seat so I feel like the seat height is at an ok height. I wish it was an easy choice. I have seen another front bumper for the new one which looks really good, not sure if it's TOMs or TRD though. I have a convenience pack and quite enjoy the heads up display and other convenience elements as a daily driver and always intended to add the diffs later, especially given that Quaife now offers the diffs for about £800 each. Be interesting to see the final specs, will we get heated seats/wheel?? Apparently the JBL, blind spot sensors is in the Auto only, more stupid version specs. I reckon it will be priced at £39,999 basic, £1,000 for auto and £800 for pearl paint. Doubt I could afford the change with my mortgage due up the same month as the Yaris finance.
I agree there is a lot of unanswered questions about costs, spec and options. There was very few options on the Gen 1, but they might have been due to Covid restrictions? For me it will depend on cost too, it would be nice to try the new one, but if I can’t afford it, I can’t afford it!
