Same ! Me and my buddy at work got stoned on lunch the other day and watched all of them. Now whenever Free Fallin comes on the radio it's forever the horse song....and the Ventura Blvd at the end we started dyin 😂😂😂😂...Kevin Bacon is the man.
Jimmy continuously walking up to Kevin as the chorus is supposed to start is absolutely hilarious. Like just the idea that every time he’s like “ah yeah here it comes here it comes” and then walking back away like “yo is Tom really still talking about horses”
I have to just say how much I love these song parodies! This week has been one of the hardest of my life - lost my dad on 8/15/24 and a week later my brother quite unexpectedly joined him on 8/22/24. I was looking for something to give me some relief from this terrible sadness and by chance landed on Jimmy Fallon and Kevin Bacon who made me laugh despite my pain. Thanks to Jimmy and Kevin for this momentary but much appreciated respite!
robert shelton I'd love to check that out sometime....love a good musician impersonation. And in case that comment was just cheekiness: lulz...it made me chuckle when I read it.
If you close your eyes and listen to Bacon's rendition of Petty, it's F'ing amazing how perfectly he nails him. He must have rehearsed this every day for weeks - at a minimum. The subtle nuances are perfect.
This is so kick-ass! Free Fallin' is one of my favorite songs, and to think if this was actually what Tom Petty originally had in mind. lol And Kevin Bacon rockin' that guitar and singing out?! Hell yeah! And Jimmy Fallon always rocks it when he sings.
I love how you can tell how smart people are by the part of the song they start laughing at. That one lady realized it was a parody right away but most of the audience seemed to not get it until like the third "horses".
For those who don't know: Jimmy Fallon is supposed to be Mike Campbell. Jacksonville born but he eventually found his way to Gainesville too. He's been Tom Petty's lead guitarist almost since the beginning, and he also co-wrote music with Tom throughout their careers. He wrote the music to "Refugee" and Tom was the lyricist. He's one of the original Heartbreakers.
no he is supposed to be JEFF LYNNE, the guy they showed at the beginnign with the massive curly hair? Look at a picture of Mike Cambell and then Jeff Lynne and you tell me who he looks more like. PS. Jeff Lynne produced Free Fallin that's why he s there making weird faces at the "first horses draft"
Courson If he were Jeff Lynne, his hair would be shorter and brown, he would’ve had a beard and sunglasses (sunglasses, at least, are kinda Jeff’s trademark). The hair and outfit is much more appropriate for Mike Campbell.
I really love the authenticity of all the band gear, an actual Hammond B3 that is above and beyond spoofing; and Fallon with the Gibson double neck, is looking like Jimmy Page LOL. Great job!
Jimmy, keep these type of videos going on your show. they are so much fun to watch. Kevin Bacon is amazing with his voice and so are you! You do the BEST Bruce Springsteen. :)
Kevin even has down the way TP sometimes sings thru the side of his mouth. I'm in TP's boyhood home, Gainesville, FL! GO TP! Yer a rock star forever now!
Add your own verse: She rides horses At a trot, a walk, or cantor She really likes them Chestnuts and mares Cause if it's horses She will be crazy about them She loves horses And America too
Listening to the radio today and the original version comes on the radio! Wasn’t sure what it was but what made it familiar is when he Tom Petty sang the lyrics she likes horses!!! I love the original version BUT....the only version stuck in my mind is THIS ONE!!!! Original will never be the same!! 🤣🤣
The one thing they could have added that would be funny, is after they finally sang the first chorus, Kevin broke out in another verse, while Jimmy went to continue the chorus.
Lyrics : She’s a good girl, loves her mama Loves horses, and America too She’s a good girl, crazy ‘bout Elvis Loves horses, and her boyfriend too. She loves horses, and she also loves rainbows She loves flowers, and horses too She likes football, but she really loves horses Yeah those horses, she really really loves. But if there’s one thing, she loves most about horses It’s that they’re horses, that’s the one thing So just to be clear, she’s a fan of the horses, She loves horses, la de da de da. She digs horses, yeah she’s nuts about horses She enjoys hor, ses yeah she does She loves horse hair, horse teeth and horse noses She loves horseshoes, and horses too. She likes ponies, but not as much as horses She likes horses, much much more She likes unicorns, but she calls ‘em “horny horses” She loves horses, yeah that’s what she loves. She doesn’t like goats, and she don’t like llamas, She don’t care for, them crazy kangaroos, And I’m a bad boy, cuz I don’t like horses She loves horses, Ventura Boulevard. Now I’m free! Free horses! Now I’m free! Free horses!
Gotta' keep the mock up to par all ya' can. I rarely saw Mike Campbell (lead guitar in TP and the Breakers) play a double 6 and 12 string as Jimmy does here though. I think the Byrds ran out to get Rickenbackers once they saw the Beatles using them@@
Actually...Mike Campbell's first 12 string rick (the one on the cover of Damn the torpedoes) was the next one on the production line after George Harrison's first 12 string rick. Bet you all didn't know that :)
