I guess if you don't wirefall the right direction but so far I've consistently wirefalled away from the second hit. Wirefall makes a lot of the fights in this game easier.
@@tmck4138 there is. What valstrax does is intake oxegen from the air into it chest (you can actually see it do this in the fight) and combine it with dragon element to create propulsion. In other words, valstrax is quite literally a living jet engine.
Valstrax is such a cool fight. The stuff they added to him was stuff I didnt expect. I thought they'd make him do a lot of stuff to disorient the player and jump around them. Instead they just made using the wirebug for movement very dangerous, which I really like. Wirefall on instinct, cart. Wirefall after one hit, cart. Think about wirefalling, cart. My type of restraint lol.
@@GOOBER42018 I think overall wirefalling isnt dangerous. Especially since you can even just wait a little before wirefalling as long as the recovery animation hasnt started. But for these online players I usually run into? I've seen people wirefall into Zinogre bodyslams, Rajang beams, Mizutsune streams, and, my favorite, Teostra Supernovae. I like when moves punish wirefall, and I dont think its very dangerous unless you dont know the monster. My favorite part of the new monster period is watching people cart on my team to big obvious attacks. Not their fault, likely first timers. But enjoyable nonetheless. I think Valstrax will provide a lot of those for the first week or so.
@@thebuddah1253 Nah I went back to check and GU Valstrax is still definitely faster. The wind-up and cooldown time on Rise Valstrax's moves are significantly higher (2:39, 4:29), which is fine because this is high rank not G-rank.
I wish you would get carted to nearest sub-camp and not always back to base camp. Its only a few button presses to get there but I would still rather not having to fast travel manually when I cart.
Ya know what, give me Gen's full proper new monster roster. Great Maccao, Malfestio, Glavenus, Astalos, Gammoth, Nakarkos and Ahtal-Ka. Give us Jurassic Frontier for a map, bring with it Tetsu, Maccao, Malfestio, Glavenus and Astalos, put Gammoth on the Islands, and Nakarkos and Ahtal-Ka can have their own arenas.
gosh damn 10 minutes still with a cart. took me 15 with no carts. i was using the grand chaos switch axe. is the barioth one really much better for this fight?
Still at 20+ mins when fighting him on hammer or great sword but I went as low as 10 mins using longsword. Not much to brag about since longsword is fuckin op in Rise lol. Will try to practice Valstrax with a hammer.
I don't know why, but the Japanese chant at the monster intro and the Asian victory music, I really like it. I don't have a Switch, but watching others is still fun. Valstrax, the only monster of the series I never fought, but I thinks he is one of the coolest nonetheless.
@@radianceakatheradiantmeepl1004 No, I was meaning the main franchise. MHXX never localized for 3DS and having no Switch so no Valstrax for me (and MHXX deviants and Ahtal-Ka now that I think about).
I've found the best way to deal with it is to just get right underneath Valstrax, but you do need to pay attention to the direction it's spinning, as the latter half of the animation can still hit you
Again everytime these videos come out it put my mindset into a better place, I often find myself getting discouraged when I faint once or twice during a hunt, I'm like "I'll never be good at this game", but videos like this remind me that we are all struggling, like in fighting games when you watch a pro player struggle in a combo trial your like "oh so they struggle too" it just make me feel better about my failures and I can focus more on fixing them
and completely obsolete as well, you must be braindead to get hit by that, they could rework that somehow, maybe by making him cover area with some smoke severe enough to reduce visibility as well as randomise the moment of crash
@@jakubmadron7776 or add some aoe with the pressure wave impact. I'm not an expert, but hitting the ground on mach speed should have been a lot more devastating than that. Maybe the G/Master rank would do that later on, but we shall see.
I didn't know they added valstrax to monster hunter rise. I like how they kept it's shitty back swipe attack as well, just to catch people off guard and fuck them.
I honestly felt a little less bad after getting one shot from full hp the first time i fought him after seeing you cart. I was a bow user and fully upgraded mix set still under 400 defence. Now i wear fully upgraded valstrax and making armor sets for every weapon type i use. 600-800+ armor and now its casual again
it does, they buffed default switch axe morph animation, especially with additional skills called Rapid Morph, which speed up your switch axe when moprhing from axe to sword, vice versa
I legit don't understand why they didn't just put the normal one in the game and instead they made this. It's literally the same fight, but worse, wind pressure that knocks you back and can get you comboed when it's charging up it's steam, 360° spin actually hits you instead of phasing through you depending on which 360° spin it is, flying charge just looks weird AF with how it just hovers there before changing directions and being a pain to dodge, and, to top it all off, residual explosive dust particles after a lot of it's attacks, SO much fun! /s Seriously, normal one would have been way better, no need to even change any of it's moveset or give it new stuff, it was created for a game that had Hunter Arts and tons of movement options, so it already fit in Rise as well!
