Tina, Banks didn't even look out of puff aftercross country i'm so ready to sit and be an armchair eventer watching you and Meg at badminton 2024 ... at 51 i won't get there myself but like watching those that work so very hard year in and out to get there... And WELL DONE LOLA SHE WAS A GREAT GROOM AND CAMARA PERSON XX
The thing I love about you Tina is how much you care which is a curse as well as a blessing. Learn from mistakes and move on wiser. You did great for first time out, especially after last year and on such a windy day. Banks is looking good - such a stud muffin - and isn't Lola a sweetie. Well done Tina, onward and upwards!
👏👏👏👏 Dressage warm up when he gave you stretching walk on long rein I KNEW you were going to have a beautiful test. And indeed it was. Show jumping… I’ve never hit pause/rewind on video faster. I believe he just didn’t see first element of that double. 🤷♂️ but shocked we all were. Now here’s where I’m extremely proud of you… you didn’t let that big shock ruin rest of course. And then you headed straight out to XC probably with some unsure feelings. However… SMASHED that XC…🔥🔥👏👏 the water was amazing… never missed a stride/rhythm (don’t tell Cam I said you rode your water course better than his 🤣 although Cam aced it also but he had a wiggle balancing stride in there😂) 🤫🧡 Your down the step combination was so rhythmic. Well done. You should be pleased with that day. Lola was amazing support and help (so organized 🫡).. great groom fairy 🧚 enjoyed Pilates with Dinks 🧡
I've been watching you for years and you've improved so much, including your riding and your own ability to recover from problems. You didn't quit, you didn't get so upset that you upset Banksy more...excellent job.
I know a bit of a blip in SJ, but for your first event you and Banksy were epic! You will rock it at Badders. Lola is a brilliant groom and you can see she adores Banksy ❤🥰. Well done to you all 😊 xxx
Great video Tina. You did a great job on your event. Excellent Dressage. It was all really good. Always watch til the very end. You're going to do great at Badminton.
Well done Tina. An epic first event of 2024. You both did brilliantly. Just a shame about the show jumping. Lola did a fantastic job, she’s very sweet too. Thanks xx
Well done Tina - I have watched your progress from the beginning (from the All Star academy) and what an improvement!! Loved Lola’s commentary 😀 and what a cracking little helper - I need a Lola 😊
Banks and you looked superb and Lola helped with that!! 😄 Please tell her she did EXCELLENT as videographer as well as groom!! 🥰🥰❤️ Nice snippet of Claudia and Monkey too 😄 VERY nice seeing even a small glimpse of Cam in action!!! ❤❤
You killed it 🎉 Don’t beat yourself up about show jumping!! You made a decision to keep you both safe in the footing ❤ Lots of us would’ve done the same 🥰 Can’t wait to see what’s next!!!
Don't worry about the little mishap in the show jumping, it's disappointing that you could have been placed, but it was a great learning plan, dressage was excellent, show jumping was nearly excellent and cross country was epic as usual, plus you had a long journey which can be brain zapping, so be proud of you both and your lucky groom 🎉❤ xx
Well done Tina and Banksy . Dont worry abt the SJ wobble -just ironing out the bugs. Great work from top groom and videographer Lola. Loved her little banter throughout and egging Banksy on in the XC. Bring on Badders 💜🙌🏻🐎
Aw Tina I loved this vlog, I think the extremely early get up and long drive makes it easier to put pressure on yourself and feel disappointment if things don’t all go 100% the way you thought they would, but you both looked absolutely fab on those clips- love your videos - you and Banks are both very lucky to have each other xx
Yeah, a bit heartbreaking after that dressage. I get it. HOWEVER, the major takeaway for me is that you two look absolutely fantastic; you are riding beautifully and his is looking and moving amazingly well and he looks so happy. Love to see his cheeky side; so fun and cute! ...and you guys were really nailing those long spots!
Well done Tina and Banksy you were both amazing and working in unison a true partnership, and a great test before Badders. Please don’t judge yourself too harshly, you pushed yourself to go and you had a fantastic event, here’s to the next event! Xx
What a good ole windy blustery day. Those bunny hops!!! Wind right up his tail! Can I just say Lola is just the BEST groom? She does amazing camera work too. Followed right along, good commentary voice, low and well modulated. I think those giant wings right up by the fence and spectators just startled Banksy, like Whoa, what’s that thing? Good riding in spite of that one hiccup. Lovely dressage. I thought the wind would be a spook factor, but it didn’t faze him at all. It was good to see Claudie on your vlog, she is an amazing young lady. Maybe a fun vlog collaboration in the future, Team Tina/Claudie vs Team Meg/Harlow? That would blow up the socials!
I love your honesty and humor. As a very ignorant hunter/jumper rider-why don’t so many three day event riders have their horses schooled for flying lead changes? Seems like it is time consuming and unbalanced without that piece.
What level of event rider are you referring to 🤣... I spent 3 years working for a 5* event rider going to events from BE100 up and people not able to do flying lead changes were a minority TBH
@@tamarafoxleyI am a hunter/jumper rider in the U.S., and I follow several of the lower level eventers here on RU-vid, like Tina, Meg, Lucy, and others in their group. I’ve watched Meg Elphick (Elphick Event Ponies) for several years before following some of the other ladies, and I ALWAYS wondered WHY she never taught her ponies/horses flying changes. I’ve never seen any of the others do flying changes in their horses either. So are they just the exception? I can’t imagine trying to jump a course without flying changes…. I do realize that the dressage tests in eventing at this level don’t require flying changes, and their show jumping classes seem to have a very generous T/A, so I guess they don’t care if it costs them extra time to have to do a simple change? But it still takes away from the rhythm and pace of the canter. Also, sometimes there ARE bending lines where they done have time to do a simple change before the next obstacle, so they end up counter cantering in to the second element, and don’t actually get a straight take-off. Not a big deal if it’s a single .90m vertical (“upright” for the Brits), but certainly problematic if you have a double combination, which requires straightness. Idk, it just seems like having a flying change would help prevent pulled rails, time faults, dicey approaches to jumps, etc. I realize that 4 or 5 British eventers don’t represent all of the lower level eventers (not a put down; just a fact that there is a huge difference between a .90 and a 5 star in everything from the MOST obvious- the fence heights-, as well as the level of technical questions posed in all 3 phases. Obviously a BE 90 dressage test isn’t going to require half pass or extended trot, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a triple/aka “treble”combination in a BE 90 OR 100 SJ course. So I don’t mean “lower level” in a pejorative way). I just found it odd that none of the ones I watch have their horses trained to do them.
I agree 100%!!! Fellow hunter/jumper rider here. I honestly can’t imagine riding any kind of jumping course without being able to do flying changes! Obviously, if we did simple changes in our hunter courses, we wouldn’t place!😂 (Unless it was a very beginner class). But also, having to come down to the trot to change leads just disrupts the canter rhythm and pace, and makes it impossible to maintain the steady flow we want. I realize show jumping in eventing isn’t done for speed, and their T/A’s are generous enough to allow for simple changes (at least in these lower levels). But again, having to do a simple change is just so disruptive! I’ve also seen situations where they have had some dicey take off spots/jump angles due to say, being on a bending line and not having the space to do a simple change, so they end up coming to the second fence in an awkward counter canter, and often don’t get remotely close to being straight and centered over the second fence. I guess not super important if it’s a .90m vertical, but if you are doing a bending line to a combination, you NEED to be straight and centered!! I know this from firsthand experience - one of my show jumping classes had some technical lines and turns. There was one double combination set about 3-4 strides away from the arena railing on a diagonal. You had to turn off the rail at the EXACT moment to ensure you got in straight to the combination. I started my turn too early, and ended up coming in to the double on a bit too much angle. My mare jumped in beautifully, and -bless her heart- tried to jump the second fence. But I couldn’t get her straight enough during the one stride we had in between, and we ended up almost jumping the left standard on our way out. SMH…. We legit hit it, and took it out, but my angel still tried to jump out…😂. What a mess! Anyway, flying changes seem essential to me, and they usually aren’t difficult to teach most horses. Especially if you’re producing a youngster. So I have been bewildered about the lack of flying changes for years! 😂
Wow, whilst that may not have been the result you expected or deserved, can we just take a moment for that dressage🤯 bloody brilliant the pair of you and shows what hard work and determination can do, you should be so so proud🤩👏👏
Thank you I was delighted with the dressage, just wish I hadn't looked at score ahead SJ though!! I remember years ago when I got a 22.8 I didn't know my score until I had completed XC and it was a lovely surprise to find out we had had a PB and Won, if id known I was on that score prior to Sj I imagine id have fluffed up!!
@@LifeontheLeftReinWe always put so much pressure on ourselves dont we🙈 least you know you’ve got the dressage on point! Stay confident in yourself T, you’re a beautiful rider and a super partner for Banks, he trusts you, you just need to trust you too! Your jumping with Alex looks fab though so i know you’ve got this🙌xx
He normally don't stop, so don't dwell with it at all!!! Part from that I will say you are right were you need to be!!! ❤❤ Really looking forward to Badminton!!! Love seeing Lola, Claudia and Cam. too!!!
Well done it's nice to see you both back out having fun again, I love following your vlogs and watch to the end 😊 have a fab season and enjoy badders ❤
Great job Tina and Banksy! Lovely dressage test, and great SJ except for that unfortunate blip! I know that must have been heart breaking, knowing you were on such a good dressage score. 😢. But cheers to you for soldiering on, and tackling the cross country course amazingly! Banksy looks gorgeous, as do you. You’re going to be great at Badders!! I can’t wait! I have to say, as fun as eventing looks, I am grateful that I show Hunter/jumpers. If I mess up a course in a Hunter over fences class, I may not place in that class, and I’ll be out of the running for Champion or Reserve Champion in that division (we usually have 2 jumping classes and one flat class for each division, each division having different fence heights and eligibility requirements). I can just go do another division and potentially be champion in that one. Or I can also compete my show jumper in several different classes. So one “not-great” round doesn’t ruin my entire weekend or week of competition. That’s the nice part. We also compete different horses in the disciplines that suit them well. So my hunter doesn’t also have to excel in show jumping. Occasionally you can find a horse that can do all three styles, but most of them do best in one particular style. So I’m also grateful that I don’t have to train one horse to do three different disciplines equally well. But huge props to all of you eventing riders who do just that! I’d love to try eventing one day. Sadly, I don’t currently have a horse who could do all three phases. I’m also 47, so might be a bit old to get into the eventing world 😅
@@LifeontheLeftRein are you doing any meet and greets whilst your there? I managed to meet Meg last year at the equine proformance stand would love to meet you this year x
You done bloody brilliant, you didn’t get out much at all last year, and your first event of the season. An amazing dressage. Well done!! Cannot wait to watch you at badminton!
Hello Tina and Sir Banksy. I very much enjoyed watching this eventing Vlog, and I have watched until the end. Yourself and Sir Banksy are looking fantastic, and this event is a great run in preparation for Badminton. You are an inspiration 🙂 xx
Love all your videos from start to finish I feel like I’m there ( even though I’m on the other side of the world 😂) it’s like a day out with a friend, and Lola was fabulous. Your confidence shines through, you look like you are really enjoying every minute 🤩
Sometimes the more you talk, the more you get depressed, which was the case post show jumping. You were talking yourself into a funk. Thank goodness for your friends. Sometimes you just need to stop talking and RIDE. Which you did with cross country. Congratulations on dressage and cross country. You looked fabulous, as did your horse. Good luck at Badminton.
Awesome to see you out eventing again, don't worry about the showjump wobble, looking at it I think you're right he struggled to read it as where you approached it there was no ground line for him to read a take off point, but you are willing to own that and not blame him, can't wait for you to get to Badminton amazing horse woman.
When you said sj was bad on insta, I was expecting tons of rails. One silly stop from being bit underpowered and a little back and forth on terrain, I was like, that’s it? First event of the season done, now crack on!
Thank Goodness for Lola, what a great help and gorgeous soul to help you through the day. That was perfect preP always good to have a stop and get the nerves out the way before the big day, you just needed to get the rawness out and you will be fine for the next date BravO Banks and Tina 💜
Well done Tina and handsome Banksy. You did really well with dressage and jumping. Shame about the stop but easy mistake with that filler. Don't dwell on it as you were both amazing 👏👏😊
Well done Tina and Banksy, you both did a great job don’t worry about the jumping it’s all going to workout great for you believe it. I’ll be rooting for you when the big day comes so stay positive sweet girl. Is Emily ok? Tfs🤗🏇🤗
Hi Tina, I love watching your vlogs and love Banks. I don’t know if you noticed but in the showjumping your bridle is over the top of the bit on the right hand side rather than under it. Is you look at 43:15 you can see. Maybe that is why he was a bit more fussy with his head than usual. Even with that he is just an epic pony I hope my baby ISH turns out like him!
Yes did notice that after I should have checked before but he did the dressage like it too 🙈 so was just excitement I think as was good as gold in the dressage xx
Fab video (as always) you were both brilliant I love that you're so natural and honest. Banksy is a Ledgend x. Lola is a lovely young lady very helpful and polite. Btw what colour are you're nails? I fortunately have natural long nails and have lots of nail varnish but not one like yours!. Lots of love to you all ❤🐴❤
Whatever you've ben doing, continue doing it🎉🎉The best I've ever sen him in dressage, he's much more active in the rear end. He used to look a bit straight avd stiff in the hocks but that's not there anymore. I think he's aging backwards like Benjamin Button😂❤ So looking forward to Badminton. Also nice to see Cam in action on that lovely grey.
That was a great result. His dressage was epic but I felt the time faults in SJ were a bit harsh. You certainly weren't dawdling and the terrain was not very favorable, so the time limit must have been fast! Anyhow, lovely to see you and Banksy competing again. Roll on Badminton. Lola is wonderful too. ❤
So excited for the badders vlogs! U guys are gonna be amazing 🥰 Just want to say thank u for all ur positivity as it really effects us in an amazing way❤️ sending lots of love xx
Well done Tina and Banksy. Where did you finish? Not that it matters as you both are getting into the swing again. Stay safe and healthy both of you. 😊
What a great event! The dressage was amazing! The stop? I don’t know what happened. Banksy looked like he wasn’t fighting or worried, he just stopped. I feel like he surprised himself! Cross country was lovely!! Everything was wonderful and don’t worry about that stop! He never stops! It was a freak of nature! Thanks for sharing!
yea he felt fab over those which is why I only jumped 3 times, wasn't any need for his little leggies to do anymore than that before leaving the start box xx
I asked him to be as we were nearly a minute too fast!! So after 13b we had to massively ease of the gas so as not to get any speedy time penalites!!!!!!
I think I pay attention to detail too much I just noticed how the “flash” on the micklem is fastened over the bit on was side and behind the bit of the other 😆 42:03
