First Ever Curly Haircut | Ouidad Cutting Style

I got my first ever curly haircut! I went to Roots Salon located in Nob Hill Albuquerque, New Mexico. This salon bases their haircuts off the Ouidad cutting style and include a full consultation, a scissor cut and a naturally curly style, dried with a diffuser. Sara Bassett, the owner and hairstylist did my hair. :)

Great video! My curls are almost exactly like your's, maybe just a little looser, and I started my curly journey over a year ago. It's high time for my first curly cut. Did you have trouble deciding whether you wanted a ouidad or a devacut? That's where I'm stuck right now. The ouidad cuts in my area are pretty steep (for someone who's never been to a specialist before, lol) - around $110. Was your cut around the same amount, and was it worth it?

Hi, thank you! My decision to do a ouidad cut was pretty easy bc that’s all that is available for me in the area I live in, it cost me $75. I thought it was well worth it, just talking to a specialist was very helpful and I learned a lot in the methods she used to style my curls. I would go w the salon that is more convenient to you and has the best reviews (check Google and their Instagram!) Good luck 🤍

I got a curly hair cut and paid $70. But I am shocked BC she actually never styled my hair before I left. Just scrunched some cream in my half dried hair and called it a day. I’m kind of upset BC she specializes in curly hair and I didn’t get the wet style + diffuse experience.

Yes! It’s called loma curly cream. It’s like a 2-in-1 product bc it’s a cream but dries like a gel and still gives you hold!

Hey Natalie, this was very interesting, I’ve been hesitant about getting a haircut because I like my hair one length but it’s not good for curls. I have really long hair and I’m kind of afraid, I want everything you asked for (except for the bangs). I suppose any Ouidad salon would give the same service?

Hi! I’m sure your curls would love a trim, I know mine thanked me lol. I think any Ouidad salon would do the trick, but you could call them ahead of time just to double check they have a curly hair stylist. Good luck to you! 🤍

I really don't recommend this cut for long hair curly people unless you have super thick hair and want to get rid of your density. The carve and slice method is basically a way of thinning your hair. This cut leaves your hair stringy. It will be especially noticeable on days where you have your hair more 'relaxed' and 'loose'. I hope I can save other people from the hell I went through with Ouidad.

@@Mayaspiral Ithere was only a small bit of slicing done and only on dry hair. She did a tiny bit in the front before wetting it down and then after drying, removed a piece in the back after she made the ponytail. Thank you for the advice, though.

Hey, I actually didn’t catch the name of it but I’ve been using Shea Moisture’s 100% pure argan oil for about 5 months now and it works well!

A little late, but it’s Paul Mitchell’s super skinny serum. They have a clear bottle and a white bottle, she used the clear. The one in the white bottle is a “relaxing balm”.
