OrdinaryDudes on our first ever e-bike mission. Now the weapon of choice for many mountain bike riders (and especially 40+ riders), the e-bike has both pros and cons. Can we be converted into full-on E-bikers?!

Trail Angels sent from above" LoL loved that comment 😄🤣🤣🤣🤗 And I'm one of those who is completely n00b to Mtb biking, also soon 60 of age, so I did 4 weeks ago get myself an Emtb, the Specialized Levo comp, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the video! Ill be back for more... :)

Many thanks for watching and for taking the time to leave a comment! Great to hear you are taking up the sport now and enjoying your e-bike. It’s magic to get out isn’t it…though definitely hoping for some improvements in the weather!! Have a great day man and keep it up! (you’re still young at nearly 60 and loads of exciting runs in the tank to go!)

Great video, in my mind E-Bikes are a game changer. Loads of local lads in the Yorkshire Dales have converted in their forties and loving them with the extra miles and hills they can climb. Bikes getting lighter and battery charge lasting longer on the newer bikes.

@OrdinaryDudesRideMTB 6 месяцев назад
@@nigelburton8620Many thanks for taking the time to send a message Nigel and glad you enjoyed the clip mate. Yes I think with hindsight, I would not have relied on the shop setting the bike up from my weight and would have softened the front end and insisted on a brake bleed which would have made all the difference! Great getting loads more miles in as you say brother
@lostintransit5822
@lostintransit5822 7 месяцев назад
You should try a full fat ebike with decent brakes and good tyre pressures so you can ride it aggressively to get a real ebike experience. A bit like renting a sports car and saying we got the 2L instead of the 4L V8.
@OrdinaryDudesRideMTB
@OrdinaryDudesRideMTB 7 месяцев назад
Aye this was certainly a learning experience and many people have mentioned similar experiences when they got their personal bikes until they got them set up properly. (And replaced the brakes too according to many as a lot of e-bikes seem to be under-spec’d out of the factory?)

Great vid matey. Think you mentioned pretty much all my fears about eebs. They defo have their place, but not with shit brakes! Scares me the fact I'm a heavier guy and the steeps... 😬🤣 me and Ant are heading up for the uplift in May.
@OrdinaryDudesRideMTB
@OrdinaryDudesRideMTB 7 месяцев назад
Yeah was a bit of a surprise for me mate as guy in shop was saying we would be looking to buy one once we’d rented one for a day! Good thing is loads of people had a similar experience but said it can be sorted by setting bike up properly and probably changing brakes too!

It just shows how important it is to have a bike set up correctly to your own preference as it’s the whole basis for the riding experience, one other final point you are obviously riding mid assist bikes the full fat e-bikes are almost 4-5kgs heavier 😮

Absolutely agree with your comments as just bought a Trek Fuel exe you still have to work hard but you get far more rewards, out of interest what model brakes did the bike come with as it really seemed to spoil the experience for you 👎
@OrdinaryDudesRideMTB
@OrdinaryDudesRideMTB 7 месяцев назад
They were Codes I believe Dave but maybe it was just the extra weight and lack of a decent bleed prior to rental? So much lever travel. Thanks for the messages BTW - they make a lot of sense 👍

Nice vid mate.. I'm similar to you, in that i've got a carbon Capra but I bit the bullet and picked up a Decoy Core 3 a few weeks back. The main difference I've noticed is in the climbs, it eats up the climbs and you're able to get so much more 'fun' riding done.
@OrdinaryDudesRideMTB
@OrdinaryDudesRideMTB 7 месяцев назад
Thanks a lot for taking the time to leave a comment as we really appreciate the feedback! Can’t deny the good points to ebiking and I get frustrated when they get slated sometimes because you would definitely rather be going up on one than slogging on the analogue- still love the Capra for the downhills though as I’m sure you’ll agree YT brother!!
@daverack
@daverack 7 месяцев назад
@@OrdinaryDudesRideMTB yeah the Capra is insanely fun on the downhills (although I smashed my knee up on my last Capra ride) so the Eeb is helping me ride again and taking some pressure off my knackered knee!

Really interesting video guys (1st time viewer here!). I just got my first eMTB last week. Use an XC usually.... so chalk and cheese. My first impressions are massively similar to yours! Its still a workout, brakes are terrible, my wrists seriously where in bits. What I would say... is that I adjusted all the levers, dropper etc and it made a massive difference to wrist pain on subsequent rides. It was just setup all wrong to begin with more than anything. Brakes.... my eMTB has SRAM's and I hate them, even after multiple bleeds. They just have far too much lever travel and 'modulation'. Shimano SLX/XT/XTR imho are just so much nicer for me personally. They bite sooner and just feel like far less effort. Solvable problems hopefully on the eMTB. Only other complaint, is I feel physically sorer as I'm doing twice the amount of trails lol.
@OrdinaryDudesRideMTB
@OrdinaryDudesRideMTB 7 месяцев назад
Oh wow am I glad to hear from you brother! I thought it was just me! Your points are all really valid but most positively where you correctly conclude it’s all surmountable with some personalised adjustments. The other key point to mention I feel is that we are all still getting out whether analogue, e-bikes or both if you are lucky enough to have either option! Really do appreciate the comment and hopefully we will hear from you again as that all made perfect sense! 💥

Love the golfie. I suffered with arm pump a little at 1st when I got an ebike....esp before I got hope brakes and didn't have to pull as much but the weight is a big factor. Also find I get a better workout on my ebike esp when I ride alone as I know I can get up the climb so I race up!
@OrdinaryDudesRideMTB
@OrdinaryDudesRideMTB 7 месяцев назад
Nice one for the message 👌 Yes I really struggled but my own fault for not getting the shop to sort it before I set off! Really enjoyed the help on the climbs but made me realise that instinctively I just went straight to the same effort level as normal… but of course getting further, faster! This bike would also benefit from some Hope brakes 🤣
@shannonmtb
@shannonmtb 7 месяцев назад
@@OrdinaryDudesRideMTB correct think non ebikers think they magically get you up the hill 🤣 yes you can be a passenger on them but like you said you revert to the same effort and more cos you know you can clear stuff so end up doing so much more. My heart rate always higher on ebike when doing same route on my normal and I've gone twice the distance ha
