Life long fan of Ryan , I remember cheering like crazy after turn 4 and in one moment hugging my wife in horrifying disbelief ? How he survived is truly a God given miracle !
He was truly an ambassador of the sport , From Penske thru Roush always '6 cars wide ' to pass. Thank You Ryan , for all you've done and T. G. You're on the next leg(s) of ur journey.
I remember watching that entire final lap as it happened. When I looked back and saw Newman flipping over like that as they came to the line, I thought he was dead. I thought there was no way he was going to get out of that car alive, especially after I saw the replays of the crash. I was never really a fan of Newman, but that crash brought a whole new perspective of him to me.
I was there in person. Filming the last lap. Up to the fact I literally ducked for my life out of Fear seeing a shadow of something coming forwards me outta the corner of my eye. Literally stopped the filming at that moment and ran to check and make sure others were okay and not injured then my attention turned to Ryan. And it looks really really bad. I was pretty damn shook up and crying literally. And started screaming at others to put the phones down and stop filming. Cause that man could very well be gone right now. And to my surprise all the folks around me that heard me scream that did exactly that. Put the phones down. I watched my child hood hero die in Dale Sr. And did not want to see another life taken away at my most favorite of all places to go. I’ll always go to Daytona. It’s got a special place in my heart. For the best and worst of memories. Ryan Newman. Love you man. And so proud of you. And your amazing career. Remember when there was a time when I’d be so mad at you winning pole after pole ! 😂 P.S I have never shared nor shown that video to anyone including my wife. And she was there right next to me. And it won’t ever be shown. Matter of fact . As God is my witness I’ve never even watched it myself. And it will likely stay that way forever. Ryan don’t Remember. And I want to Forget the memory.
I missed the race but I watched it on RU-vid and I was panicking, I thought "oh my... God... Oh my God... No... Noo... PLEASE TELL ME HES OKAY!" Glad to see him okay! Shocked that he raced in the next gen in 2023!
I will never forget watching this Daytona 500 with my dad, we really thought Ryan was not coming out of the car alive, as negative it is to say and shouldn't se said. But extremely happy he was okay and grateful to still see him race!
Compare this to earnhardt in 01. Things about that 01 deal were still not being told and he should have walked away from it. newman cheated death ten fold that day. But with this accident i think it killed a lot of hos confidence
The Nascar family and fans thought we lost Ryan that night . Nice to see Ryan is doing good . I miss Ryan every Nascar race . it just doesn't seem the same ....
Never been much a Newman fan though I never questioned his qualities as a driver and human SO, like so many others, my heart stopped watching this wreck and it also went out to him, his family and his many fans who were shaken, scared and prayed for his recovery. Good to see him and his peers back behind the wheel again.
Ryan, you were never my top driver, but always a class act. My heart dropped in this wreak. I truly thought no way are you alive. It was wonderful seeing the photo of you walking out of the hospital with your daughters. Great video. Thanks for sharing. Life is short no matter how…..STUD!
From early on I liked Newman initially because of his engineering degree and his tell it like it is disposition. But he's a hardcore racer and that crash gave me chills. Good to see him with his girls/family and good to see him in doing well in SRX and still harder to pass than a kidney stone. 😂👍🏁👍🇺🇸
I've been a Ryan Newman fan for a long time, and watching this video reinforces why I am. Way to keep your priorities in check. Hope to see you race at Grandview someday.
This was my first nascar race. When the race ended no one cheered, no one left, few said anything at all. Most of the crowd stayed until the ambulance left.
Rayn is one of them "Good guys"..110%. He is a very hard nosed racer..who make everyone earn each spot around him. Glad that angel was holding him tightly that night. Best of luck. Stay safe and be well.
Honestly I feel like the reason why he stopped performing well after that wreck was because he just didn't care anymore and he just wanted finish off his contract. Glad he survived that wreck I freaked out when I saw it live.
I may never have purchased a Ryan Newman tee shirt but he always had my respect. It's a shame he was forced to leave the Cup Series, we need the experience out there.
I will never forget that wreck. I was praying so much that he wasn't seriously hurt. Not only do they study NASCAR crashes to make their cars safer, but it makes the cars we drive safer. God bless you Ryan!
It was so shocking when his car was hit and went airborne. Two years later it still shocks me to see the pictures. So glad, that RN walked out of the hospital on his own feets. Best of luck!
My league was scheduled to run our race immediately after the 500 finished. We wound up delaying til the next day to make sure he was alright. I thought we just watched this man die
@@NASCARCorner soon as they brought out the black screens, we canceled. No fuckin way we were competing after that, especially since its a Nascar league. Our paint scheme fabricator swapped all our roof numbers for 6s for the next day
Newman was one of my favorites for a very long time. I thought I had truly watched someone die that day he got hit by LaJoie. Terrifying, and I'm still so happy he walked away.
I'm just glad the sport learned from that dark moment and helped save others. Honestly surprised me when they didn't start beefing up cars after Brad's flip and landed on drivers side crushing roof in.....
Bless you, Ryan "Rocketman" Newman. Bless you and your family. That crash was horrific. Watched the entire race, and when that accident happened, all i could think about was Austin Dillion's wreck at Daytona, and just held my breath and prayed. Hello, Newman, you tough son of a loving mother 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️
So so grateful that guy is ok! I was so scared for him when that horrible wreck happened!!I look at that wreck and I THINK ITS ABSOLUTELY A MIRACLE RYAN NEWMAN CAME OUT OF THAT HORRIBLE WRECK NOTHING MORE THEN A MIRACLE!
Title of video should be " NOT the first look at ryan newmans car" Like wtf who else was expecting to see mostly the car in the video? Almost a 4 minute video and the car is only shown during about 40 seconds. Bravo 👏
His car was leaking fuel and it never caught of fire or engulfed in flames when it very easily could have. That was a scary crash thank goodness Newman is walking and living his life without any severe brain or body damage
You should upload that video. Videos taken from the stands really offer something TV coverage doesn't. The sound and crowd reactions are lost on the networks.
We left Daytona with about 20 laps left drove across the street to the dog race track walked over to watch the race on TV and wow I prayed Newman was all right I haven’t seen a crash like that since Rusty Wallace Ryan we love you up in Milwaukee🏎🏎🏎
Hey man you may not be one off the greatest wining drivers or a dale Earnhardt. But you win go down in history as one of the best drivers and you take family first. Take care of them girls bro.
@@NASCARCorner either they acted like that never happened because they got back together or because he doesn't want to make her look like a pos for divorcing him after that? I don't know which but I'm leaning towards he's protecting the mother of his children...lol
