After Crossing Indian Ocean we stopped in Uligan island - one of the most northern islands in Maldives. We checked in and jumped for great snorkeling. We were so lucky as when we arrived First ever - Maldives Yacht Rally was about to start from the same island! So we joined it :D And boy oh boy did we enjoyed it! Lots of cultural shows, authentic crafts and foods. Very welcoming and generous people... And we been so spoiled by the organizers and and everyone we met! You must join us and see with your own eyes! :)

Great video! It was fun seeing Keith from SV Zatara showing his dance moves on the beach. I loved seeing the Maldivian culture that you and Zatara recently showed...the Maldivians are such kind and gracious people.

Zatara is a legend! Aquarius is just a small sailing channel... But, we are both on the same ocean, at the same anchorages and enjoying the cruising life.

Wow!!! What an amazing yacht rally!! I can’t believe how well organized and all of the activities and food provided for you guys!! The Maldivian people have been so warm, welcoming, generous and it is just so amazing to see and hope others can learn from this. What an amazing opportunity I’m so glad you guys were able to join and even excited to see you caught up with the Z-Crew on SV Zatara! A future video with the Z-Crew would be awesome!

A great video! The welcoming feast looked absolutely delicious, Yum! Why were the locals not wanting to join in the festivities? The opening video showed many cutter rigged boats. Would really like interviews with owners on why they prefer cutters over sloops over ketch's.

I think they want to stimulate tourism at all levels, including Yachts and budget travelers. They got plenty of $2000 per night hotels...

Just found out who Casson is, the Indian Ocean Weatherman. No, we didn't use Casson, and probably will not for the Seychelles crossing, and the Tanzania crossing. We watch the weather, even though it's mostly incorrect... If there are big changes in weather patterns we would know about it...

Glorious place, the Maldives. I was there in 1995. Im sure its a bit different now. I left a comment on the Zatara channel that I spotted your boat on their channel - have you chatted with them yet?

Yes, both Aquarius and Zatara are part the Maldives Rally. So, Aquarius is currently anchored about 100 meters from Zatara. Looking forward to Jack and Keith teaching me Kiteboarding! Still in awe of their 60 foot Cat..... Meeeee-oooow!

The price was $1500, then later there was a special price for some of the boats to join. But, the value.... Priceless! Knowing what I know now, I would have paid much more than the asking price to be part of this rally.

Why are the Maldives doing this rally? Are they promoting their islands for tourism?

Some would like to start a sailing community in the Maldives. It is a perfect place to sail almost all year long, but there are very few sailing vessels here in the Maldives. This Rally showcases the fact that there are plenty of places to anchor at spectacular beaches. There will be several more videos while we sail through the Maldives. Thanks for watching!

You know, in the beginning I was thanking same thing, but later I started appreciate what they have and they look totally happy! I don’t know if you woman, but never worry about your hair is a bliss 😁 Plus in current SM 💯 photoshopped culture I don’t think too many girls/ women are happy with who they are… But again- it’s only my opinion and I’m so grateful that you subscribed ☺️🙏

@@SailingAquarius Happy to be subscribed. Interesting channel. I am male, but it disturbs me that you as a woman might support Islam's terrible influence on women. No woman should be raised to be happy to delete from her own looks or humanity. No woman should be convinced by religion to become happy with being made responsible for what a man might do if they don't cover up. No woman should be made responsible for men's behavior, happy to be or not. That is the very problem, that birds in a cage think flying is an illness. So sad to see and sad to know that, in so many Islamic countries, if they take it off they can be punished

@@SailingAquarius Oh and trust me, if they didn't want your tourism money Maldive Islamics would soon pass laws that required you to completely cover up too. Stopping you from wearing a bikini in public areas is just where they draw the line in regard to how far they will compromise for the almighty dollar.
