I know that feeling. Specially the part when 58 min of 59 min is spent on finding that 1 last remaining monster. And then you finally find it after very carefully examining every last inch of Den of Evil for 5th time.

There was the skipping of the baal waves though, I presume it was some sort of glitch or exploit? Agree though that non glitched speed runs are far superior to the usual glitched speed runs (in every game).

There's a slight input lag when you're in new. Old game is pretty much 0-input. You can spam old way faster. It was even like that back in the old game itself.

He is toggling the graphics settings because the ui on the old graphics allows for quicker actions meaning less time spent shopping for stuff. It probably saves good 2-3 seconds each time he interacts with the vendors with that graphics switch

when you spam click and spam enter i think the legacy layout if more forgiving. doesnt seem to make much difference for me but im probly just too slow to notice.

Easier to buy potions with click-enter. Try it and ulll understand. Don't know exactly about Baal waves but I think it's easier in legacy mode to locate the exact spot where ur character needs to be

You can kind of predict how maps are generated, but its still very random. In this video you saw a combination of very skilled map reading skills mixed with luck. Like u saw in act 4. He ran around the whole map without finding the river of flame

There are hour-long RU-vid videos on the randomness and non random maps in each act. Some are 100% random (arcane) some are limited variations (nilithak) others are somewhat linear (underground passage)... Some are one direction sticking to a wall (meph runs)... And some are easy to a giant hot mess (act3)...so yeah just search RU-vid. Prepare for a long watch.

The "yes" will unalign if you move your cursor one pixel in the new graphics. It's mostly just for convenience

@lukafocu there's just several map rules you can learn to make educated guesses on the direction of where to go, act 3 is pretty much 80% predictable in Spider Forest, Great Marsh and Flayer Jungle if you remember visual tells (torches, bridges, rocks and trees) if you're curious go check out the d2 tile collection on speedrun.com/d2lod under "guides"

Yeah, there were a plenty. Ultra hardcore by llama (which included also no used healing at all, only level up healing), steel soul race 1-2 years ago (which included no vendor and no re-farming rules), different no-vendor runs (llama definiely, jymnasium probably, not sure, you can look for 'no vendor/no shopping' I think). Ah, also llama did 'chest only run' where all items were from poppables, you could not even loop drop from monsters (which is harder version you asking). So short answer is yes. Just 'no-vendor' run is not THAT hard, you just need to select mana-effecient character (like Druid) to not be bored in early game :)

Well you can see pre-lod runs as well, where mana pots were not a thing. I personally started playing d2 with 1.02 and I thought casters are suck (NEED MORE MANA). I memorize bosses did not drop 4 pots on early patches, only 1 item and that's it (also they worth same XP as regular monsters with higher HP pool). Current D2[R] is 100x faster gameplay (not saying it's bad or good).

@@JJV7243 I did not play caster builds buch as a kind, not sure if even get past Duriel on normal on sorceress/necro. But yeah, that was a completely different game. Introduction of mana pots in vendors did a balance shift 10x greater that all RW, enigmas, infinity and sunder charms taken together :D p.s. imagine coming to boss fight, running out of pots and 'well, I need to have another try' S&Q, go grinding to stack you stash and inventory with those XD

@@7gamex Basically his personal best for Andariel was already better than the one in the World Record, but his completion of the entire game was slower than the World Record, until this video

If you've played the game enough you know every single map layout there is in the game. Best way to remember the way to baal is. If its not left or right. Its always backwards it never goes straight out from the entrance.

@@Kano_AU I just have tested firewall sorc. Blizzard was x2 times more effiecient in killing Nithalak. Plus,it doesn't kill his minions. So he can't use CE.

Adding equipment drops your walk run speed a bit. Running naked at the start of a1 is just being efficient since your stamina sucks.
