Match highlights from the First Final of the 1989-90 ODI Tri Series. Aussies bustle Pakistan out for 162. Alan Border (44 n.o.) and Dean Jones (83 n.o.) steer the ship home.
What a match. The best bowling attack vs. best batting line up in the world at MCG. Nothing better than watching Wasim Akram bowling to Dean Jones and Alan Border. Thanks for posting.
*A brief analysis of Pakistani Batting in this match* 1. It was just after noon. The sun was burning intensely on their heads 2. The helmet was not much useful in covering their eyes as the ball was difficult to see or judge properly in intense sunlight 3. The ground in those days used to be approx 90 meters, a layman can also see the size of ground and say it's a hell lot bigger compared to nowadays 4. The Australlian team was not just an average or above average team like nowadays 5. The sense of Cricket was not the same as nowadays. Slow scores were usually preffered. I think thats enough of a reason to see that Great players like Javed, Saeed, Imran etc were knocked out at very low scores. Allah gave Waseem Akram the moment to shine and he really did shine.
Wooooooooow..forfathers tridition still picked by now days Pakistani cricket players.edges to keeper and slippers got out..same style of play nothing to change...
Javed miandad is never an odi player wasted so many deliveries i have never seen him winning games in odi's for Pakistan except against india at sharjah most of the time Pakistan has suffered due to his slow batting in odi's.
Akram...injured...still scores more than 50% of his team’s runs, picks up 2 wickets at a miserly rate and almost floored Salim Yusuf with that rocket throw...he is a tough nut 😂❤
Wasim akram's great knock & then after good bowling 👌 ,,Really allround perfornance. But Dean jones innings win match for Australia, Poor batting &r fielding by pakistani's 👎
Imran Khan performance dip like nose dive from 1987 till 1992, if it happens any other player he could drop long time ago. unnecessary too much hype given to him.
What a great TV coverage at that time. If you watch cricket matches in Pakistan of that era it seems to be played in like 1890s & even cricket matches played in UAE have poor TV coverage but Australia did wonderfully well.
Loving these uploads!! I was at this match with my Dad, I was allowed to have the day off school so I could go, I had recently turned 10 yrs old. Do you have the 89/90 B&H WSC Boxing Day match which was played by Australia & Sri Lanka? Awesome channel.
The Aussie commentators really loved Wasim Akram - and why not, he was arguably the fastest (or close enough) bowler at this period (maybe after West Indies' Ambrose and Co.) and he really batted well in 1989-90 season as well. Poor Rackemann - started with four maidens, two wickets too - his eventual figures were fine too but he took a beating against Wasim.
Vv poor batting display by Pak specialist batsmen other than Salim Malik,Wasim Akram told them how to bat in Australia, there is only one way of batting in australia hard stroke play, merciless batting like Grenidge Hynes VV richards Lara Tendulkar Sehwag Laxman Kohli Mcullum Bairstow Butler etc
10 saal pehle south Asian batsman's aksar slip mien catch dete they . new batsmano ne wo andaz khatam kar ke uss gand ko hukk karna shoro kia his se batsman ko 4 runs milte hien .
The good old 90s Benson and Hedges series, coloured clothing, white ball n birds on the lush green outfield was always we waited to start around the year end time as kids
Ian Healey debut 1989/90 wicket keepers just before him Greg Dyer Phil Emery & Rodney Marsh after him Adam Gilchrist Brad Haddin amongst the others that followed later .
