(Better late than never! Filmed 1st of August and only just uploaded now due to awful internet connection!)
The whole family is out picking berries and harvesting the first crops from our no dig/till market garden. We had a really successful onion crop and we’ve pulled them up, lay them in the sun for a day, before storing them somewhere dry and airy to dry for a few weeks before storing for winter.
We Lao take a look at our planting of oats before harvesting some to make our favourite herbal medicine - milky oats tincture. This wonderful tincture is fantastic at strengthening the nervous system helping the body deal with stress and anxiety. We also take a look at our brassica beds, seeing how the cabbages, kale and cauliflower have done over the months.
About Tap o' Noth Farm:
Hi, we're James and Rosa! Welcome to Tap o' Noth Farm, a quarter acre Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) market garden and 8 acre permaculture designed forest garden farm/homestead in Aberdeenshire, NE Scotland. We practice home scale to small farm scale agroforestry and regenerative agriculture methods to produce organic fruit and vegetables, raise dairy goats for all our raw milk needs, Shetland sheep and geese to graze our silvopasture and coppice systems and laying hens, moved around in a Chickshaw, for an abundance of eggs.
Our videos aren't 'how to's' - more videos to give a glimpse into our lifestyle and hopefully inspire you to bring aspects of what you see into your own life.
TAP:RETREAT
Come and stay on the farm in our traditional shepherds hut, complete with pizza oven and wood fired outdoor bath set amongst fields, trees and beside a beautiful pond. you can book through AirBnB here - airbnb.com/h/t...

We will list your name at the end of each vlog episode so everyone knows how brilliant you are! We will also keep you updated on our farm work/life by posting exclusive video content that is not available on RU-vid such as FARMVLOG outtakes, behind the scenes footage, hints & tips and more in depth videos discussing the many permaculture systems to be found on the farm PLUS the odd photo from Rosa and James.

pop dried crushed oats into a muslin bag and then pop in the bath - great for dry skin and you can use the bag to scrub the body - then dump used oats into the compost pile or feed to chickens.

Growing my own food (for my kitchen) is something I aspire to. Even when I have my own family. Or buying from Organic farmers in the area.. Otherwise Monsanto will kill us all with oestrogenated food stuff. Watching this channel gives me much hope.

I love gooseberries, this year I bought a little bush in a pot that I'm hoping will produce a bit of fruit next year. I feel rather envious after seeing your daughter picking them at the start of this video!

Lovely video! Good to see all of you again! Thank you for the great ideas with the oat/clover bed. Hope to experiment with a similar bed and maybe tea & tincture as well. Blessings on your beautiful family and your lovely farm! 🥰🌻🐛🍁🍂

Excellent . . . thank you so much. I just want to let you guys know how much I appreciate what you are doing there. I watch every vid and gain so much helpful information from you. I have a place about 35 miles from you (Elgin) and find your planting schedules perfect for the little piece of land I have taken on this year. Although my land is quite poor in condition, it is producing more than enough for my family to eat and the grandkids to enjoy playing in . Keep on doing what you do. . . it's brilliant! Paul . :)

What a pleasant surprise a Team Tap vlog! Thanks for the updates.

If you're going to experiment with oats for food, I'd suggest trying naked oats. They separate easily from the hull, so you eliminate the most difficult part of the processing. We're also looking into a naked barley next year too.

Hi Laura, many thanks. Kitchen is pretty much completed, took much longer than planned and only just got water and our cook stove (heating) back in time before our daughter arrived!

Great video, very nice. Can I ask, where did you do your PDC? Was it one of the online courses with Geoff Lawton? Thanks!
@TapoNothFarm
@TapoNothFarm Год назад
Thanks! I (James) completed my PDC in 2003 when I was lucky enough to be living for a bit in Australia, with Robyn Francis of Djanbung Gardens. This was before online courses was a thing but I’d probably consider online now if I was starting over. I’d imagine Geoff ‘s course is very good. You looking into one?
