The mk1 X5 (E53) and X3 (E83) are such great designs imo, they're my favorite generations of each model

They are great looking cars and still retain that rugged look. I also like the design of the second generation BMW X5 (E70). Great looking cars. Thank you for your comment, and stay tuned for more videos.

Hello, I haven't seen enough of your videos to be able to address you by your name or know where you are in this country, But, I own that same 2007 (131K mi) BMW X3 3.0si. I've upgraded it to ($400) Cryo Rotors and ($100 plus install) Akebono Ceramic High Performance pads and Bilstein shocks. Plus, Continental "Extreme Contact" tires. This SAV is like a 125 GP race bike; take it to WOF and leave it there!!!!!!! I just took it out to my favorite riding road (having been a motorcycle road racer and rode it for 50 years) and this silly"Little" 4000lb SAV ran SO good, I'd hope I never saw it in my motorcycles mirrors, other than on the best bikes I ever rode out there (Campo Rd, highway 94, SE of San Diego). You said everything right, about this car, that I've now experienced . Thanks for a great and truthful review of a terrific car. cheers Boots Langley La Mesa, Ca

Boots, thank you for your post! I live in East Tennessee. If your travels ever bring you this way, I would definitely recommend exploring many of the awesome driving roads we have in these parts. Your X3 would be perfect for them. The X3 is an awesome car, and I wish more car manufacturers would focus on making fun to drive SAVs/SUVs/Crossovers like the X3 is. Thanks for your comment and stay tuned for more videos!

Loved the review and your points about the X3's impact on the car industry. One point of contention at 14:50-15 I must say they actually did beat the ride height of the jeep grand cherokee's ride height and included a very useful hill descent feature! In my opinion they predicted there would be crazy people like myself who off-road their E83s and take them where no 'luxury' suv should go. I've been down miles of twisty, rough and washed out powerline roads while making good use of the hill descent feature! Also take mine driving miles out on beaches with sand up to the underbelly. Never had an issue so long as DST is off and tires are aired down! In summary: I'd argue they are much more capable off-road than people give them credit for, even with 17in rims on mine. EDIT: forgot to mention part of my bias might stem from the fact that my 07 X3 has the 6 speed manual - currently at 262k miles *supposedly* on the original clutch (I bought at ~235k). I think the manual makes an E83 perfect - more offroad capable and addresses your concerns with the sluggish auto transmission.

@@GogoMotoring I had one issue - diesel smell inside the car. Solution - 1) check oil leakage. 2) clean injectors and install new copper rings + seal with proper o-rings (bottom - green 150C, upper can be black - up to 120C degrees). When I decided to use Silicon o-rings that can get up to 200C degrees, just in case... Otherwise, I am very happy with how this little truck with turbo drives :) cool one.

A lot of BMW designs are ahead of their time and look better with age. A perfect example of that is the E60 5-series. I didn't like them when they first came out, but I think they look awesome now. Thanks for your comment, and stay tuned for more videos!

2:37 / 22:07 I heard you said you had a BMW CX9, I am assuming it's a Mazda CX9, right? If so, what's your opinion between these two? I am thinking in getting an SUV, and I like these two particular ones, but I can decide. I know the CX9 is bigger than the X3, but other than that, what do you think about them?
@GogoMotoring
@GogoMotoring 3 года назад
Thanks for your comment, Luis. You are correct. I intended to say Mazda CX-9 instead of BMW X3. I make the same types of blunders in all of my videos where I intend to say one thing but end up actually saying something different. As you noted, the CX-9 is the bigger car and definitely feels like one. It has quite a bit of body roll in the corners, and, therefore, it doesn't handle as well as the X3. The X3 has a stiffer suspension, which may not be ideal for most people. The X3 feels like a more premium vehicle, which it is, but it will also likely be more expensive to maintain. In summary, when we decided to buy the CX-9, we were looking for a workhorse vehicle for our family. The CX-9 has served that function impeccably well. It is affordable, reliable, cheap to maintain, spacious, comfortable, and great with little kids. We cross-shopped it against the BMW X-5 and found that the CX-9 was a better car for the job because (1) it was bigger, (2) cheaper to purchase and maintain, (3) more comfortable, and (4) comparably quick in a straight line. Our other cars are BMWs, so we can have the BMW experience when we want to, which is why buying a CX-9 made sense for our family. It would have been a more difficult choice if our other cars were not BMWs. I may do a review on the CX-9 and address this topic in more detail. Thank you for your comment, and stay tuned for more videos.

@@GogoMotoring Thanks a lot for reply, I will definitely take this in consideration, and for the time being, I think I will go with the CX9 for now, as my needs are more for traveling long distances with the fam. Looking forward for the CX9 review and good luck with your channel!

@@GogoMotoring I just watched it, very nice review, and truly shows what this vehicle is, I ended up buying one CX-9 last month, and I am so far enjoying it, really nice ride, almost feels like you're driving a sedan, with a Crossover SUV advantages, like the space and power.

Very good review, congrats! I had before a Mercedes GL320, and when i drove it a bit fast in small mountain roads like in the video, it felt like driving the Titanic, even using the "rigid mode" on the suspension. Now i have an X3 2.0D 150 hp (if your are in doubt, as I was, go for te 177hp. 150 is not enough to move lightly the X3 ass on overtakings, for example). The GL320 and the X3 are obviously from different segments, but in therms of driving in mountain roads the X3 is much more precise and reliable. For easy off-roads, or (big) family travels the GL320 is much better, of course. Full of torque and space whatever the situation. Another point, as the X3 has smaller engine, wheels and weight, consumption is 1/2 of GL consumption!!
@GogoMotoring
@GogoMotoring 2 года назад
Thank you for your comment, 32pab! And everything you wrote above is 100% accurate. We recently purchased a GLE 350, and the X3 definitely better on the tight, twisty road. It is a smaller car, but I would probably feel the same way about the X5. I have uploaded the review of the Mercedes GLE 350 4MATIC on my channel, so check it out when you get a chance. All the best!

@GogoMotoring
@GogoMotoring 3 года назад
Arya, the car has been reliable for a BMW. It has a naturally aspirated engine, which is much more reliable than BMW's modern day turbo charged engines. You should consider getting a pre purchase inspection from an independent BMW mechanic, who can tell you what the condition of the car is. At $3,900, you are not paying a lot of money for it, and you'll get a lot of car for your money provided it is in good condition. Best of luck, and let me know how it goes. If you haven't already, please subscribe and stay tuned for more videos.

As I understand if you take care of the car and not drive crazy as on F1, this is a very solid car that can go up to 500-600k. Km. Right?
